Quality in health care has traditionally been dominated by medical profession, where patients’ opinions were labelled as lay evaluation. Patients’ views and opinions are important because they give ...us an insight into dimensions of quality that are not evaluated by medical profession and often seem to be more important. In health care quantitative methodology is often used to address these quality dimensions and introduce patients’ views and opinions. There are various benefits using quantitative research instruments, such as a detailed analysis of the importance of various quality dimensions for patients and an analysis of factors influencing patients’ satisfaction. On the other hand serious deficiencies can be tackled too, that are usually dealt with qualitative research instruments, because they go deeper into people’s motives and feelings. However, health care service is specific—it is very important to patients (health is one of the most important values), but their participation in health care service is rather low. They also don’t always say and do what they mean. In such a context combination of quantitative and qualitative research instrument does not give satisfactory answers. The importance of complaints is stressed and rewards for taking them seriously and acting upon them is discussed.
Metode: Izveden je bil integrativni pregled literature v digitalni zbirki podatkov PubMed, spletnem iskalniku Google učenjak in vzajemnemu bibliografskemu sistemu COBISS s pomočjo besednih zvez: »cannabis AND medical use«, »marihuana AND medical use« in »raba konoplje v medicinske namene«.

Premature death, chronic disease, and productivity loss can be reduced with the help of programs that promote a healthy lifestyle. Workplace health promotion programs have been shown to be an ...efficient way of improving employee health. These can also benefit employers by improving retention, reducing worker turnover, and lowering healthcare costs. In Slovenia, a workplace health promotion program called "STAR-VITAL-Joint Measures for the Vitality of Older Workers" targeting small- and medium-sized enterprises has been ongoing since September 2017. We hypothesize that this workplace health promotion program will yield long-term health changes for the included employees and employers.
The manuscript presents a workplace health promotion program design that introduces some novel approaches and solutions to workplace health promotion program implementation. It also introduces a measurement of their effects that address the problem of low participation rates and the effectiveness of workplace health promotion programs, as follows: (1) the multifaceted and individualised approach to implementation, (2) customer relationship management (CRM) -based interaction management with program participants, and (3) impact evaluation based on employee health and labour market data observing both intermediate outcomes and the final outcomes based on national micro administrative data.
Although the novel approaches introduced with the STAR-VITAL program proved to be effective during the COVID-19 pandemic, they deserve the attention of scholars and practitioners. Further research is called for to further explore the potential of CRM in health promotion contexts, the effectiveness of multifaceted and individualised workplace health promotion program interventions, and micro administrative data-based impact evaluations.
The STAR-VITAL program introduces several new approaches addressing the problem of low participation rates and the effectiveness of WHPPs. Further research is called for to discover and explore the potential of those novel approaches.
Debates on gambling and related policy-making are rarely based on conclusive and reliable data about this sector's social effects. The said is also true for Slovenia. In this paper, we are ...calculating social costs of gambling in Slovenia and in the Goriska region in view of plans of possible investments into new resort casinos. In the first section, we review the gambling history and the current gambling market. After that we estimate the extent of the current problem and pathological gambling on the basis of the limited available data and develop scenarios of possible future trends. After that we examine strategies used in Slovenia to help and care for pathological and problem gamblers, and evaluate existing mechanisms. At the end of the paper we present two conclusions. Firstly, preventing gambling addiction is a difficult task, although expansion of the gambling sector does not necessarily imply a steep increase in social costs of gambling. Comprehensive system of responsible gambling including preventive measures and treatment of gambling addiction is the key issue. Secondly, available data on trends and developments regarding problem gambling in Slovenia is insufficient. Therefore, it is vital that we establish an observatory for longitudinal research on these issues and it should become part of a comprehensive system of socially responsible gambling.
