The paper gives a somewhat limited overview of the importance of the lexeme
buke (?bread?) in Albanian culture from the aspect of linguoculturology and
phraseology. The contrastive study is carried ...out from Albanian to Serbian
and is based on the recorded phraseologisms and paroemias from relevant
general and phraseological monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. The
mentioned lexeme is observed as primary, although in both languages native
speakers use a number of other secondary lexemes to designate a variety of
sorts and shapes of bread. Idiotypical phraseological units demonstrate that
the lexeme buke takes a special place and plays an important role in
developing and nurturing social and interpersonal relations. At the same
time, a series of identical or rather similar homotypical phraseologisms are
identified in Serbian, which speaks in favour of the existence of relatively
concordant ways of thinking, evaluating, and understanding the significance
and role of bread in human society.

Bearing in mind that every element of the linguistic system can be subordinated to the communicative function of language, the authors of this paper seek to provide a contrastive structural and ...semantic analysis of a particular lexico-semantic group of somatic idioms or phraseologisms (phraseological units containing the names of bodily organs) found in the Modern Greek and Serbian languages. This brief analysis, based on a corpus gathered from dictionaries and translated books, is a pioneer work in its field either in Greek or in Serbian literature on phraseology. Since somatic phraseologisms diverge in their structure and semantic features, the authors attempt to find parallels between the two languages in their use of concrete concept forms, with the ultimate aim of explaining and expressing their metaphorical meanings. This entails focusing on a selection of somatic phraseologisms which belong to separate phraseological inventories of the two languages.
Certain types of introductory formulas typical of klephtic epic songs are synoptically demonstrated and analyzed. The introduction outlines the historical development of this category of folk songs, ...based on occasionally opposing views of literary historians and scholars concerned with the study of Greek folklore. The analysis, performed on a selected corpus of Greek klephtic epic songs, reveals basic structural principles that the anonymous folk singer abided by whilst composing these songs.
The present paper deals with a comparative and contrastive analysis of a certain number of idiomatic expressions in three contemporary Balkan and unrelated languages Albanian, Romanian and Serbian ...containing one specific lexeme related to a traditional form of footwear – opanak, opinca, opinga – collected from different dictionary sources. According to the rich cultural material of these Balkan nations, this typical peasаnt shoe is still a representative part of their various national costumes, being at the same time one of the most recognizable elements of their cultural traditions.
Bearing in mind that only this kind of footwear has been known to these peoples for centuries and that it has not been changed in its shape or style a lot, we have tried to find out whether and to what extent these lexemes form phraseological constructions as their key constituents in the aforementioned languages. Each idiom is presented, then it is given its literal meaning and finally its translational equivalents in other languages.
Based on the performed analysis of all recorded idiomatic expressions (61) and upon comparison between the Albanian and Romanian and pertinent Serbian ones, only in Albanian idiomatic expressions created from this lexeme have been found to be dominant. On the other hand, an absolute high percentage (100%) of disconcordance has been recorded between the three phraseological images which draws attention to the fact that each language in question does express its indipendent, dissimilar and idiotypical idiomatic characteristics. In other words, no semantic and structural equivalences have been recorded between the three Balkan languages as the zero degree of concordance is predominant. Each and every idiom belongs to a special semantic and cognitive level in communicative and stylistic perspective thus reflecting just a small part of a greater mental and psycological comprehention of human inner and outer worlds as well as of his social behaviour.
In last decades a special attention has been paid to intercultural communication and its development in societies all around the world. A number of cultural anthropologists describe it as an informal ...face-to-face verbal/oral interaction between individuals representing different cultures (Asante-Gudykunst, 1989:14; Prosser, 1978:102). In addition, in a number of scientific papers one can read that this subtype of human communication can have its key success only if it is based on the premise of the equal use of different languages and of their respect. Article 2:3 of the Lisbon Treaty itself states that the European Union “shall respect its rich cultural and linguistic diversity, and shall ensure that Europe's cultural heritage is safeguarded and enhanced” (OJEU, 2007:11). The truth is that intercultural communication, as one part of communication in general, is a necessity for successfully bridging the gap between different cultures and languages.
In the European Union intercultural exchange and communication among the European nations are the imperative for a united international (economical, political, social etc.) cooperation in which foreign language learning has a special social and political priority. However, inside the borders of the European Union there is a large group of official languages which are lesser used and, consequently, not widely learnt (e.g. Polish, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Catalonian, Welsh etc.). In the Balkans all official national languages together with other spoken minority ones belong to this group according to Ferguson`s sociolinguistic classification. Viewing intercultural communication as a profound social phenomenon, Singer (1998:41) undoubtedly pointed out that when different groups encounter one another, a common problem is that people think differently. According to the theories of cognitive anthropology, this always occurs because of the existence of either slightly or completely different cultural models in societies. To be achieved a deeper and comprehensive intercultural communication and its effectiveness, which both involve reduction in a large measure of uncertainty and anxiety related to otherness and building a new perceptive scheme about others, learning lesser used languages, such as Greek in Serbia and Serbian in Greece, is considered a categorical request for any further constructive development of relations and cooperation between different nations within and outside the European Union.
The topic of this study is the factors that influence the consumption of traditional food products (TFPs) in tourism, as seen from the perspective of management-sector employees in food and beverage ...catering facilities. The paper aims to analyse the economic, environmental, social, and touristic factors that highly influence the consumption patterns of catering facilities which are significant providers of traditional gastronomic experiences in tourism, by using the specially designed TFPct scale. The study was conducted on a sample of 300 catering facilities in AP Vojvodina (the Republic of Serbia). An explanatory factor analysis was used to confirm the key factors that influence the consumption of traditional products used to prepare the meals that are a part of what catering facilities offer. Subsequently, a binary logistics regression model was used to establish which of the indicated factors has a statistically significant effect on the management's decision to purchase these products for their catering facility. The study showed that the TFPct scale is appropriate for this type of research, and that economic factors are key factors in the consumption of traditional products. Moreover, compared with other types of catering facilities, interest in the consumption of these products is clearly expressed by a la carte restaurants.
