To investigate the effects of various monochromatic lights on T lymphocytes proliferation and serum nitric oxide production in chicken vaccinated with infectious bursal disease and newcastle disease ...vaccines, a total of 60 one-day-old broilers were exposed to red, green, blue, white and yellow light by using a light-emitting diode system for 6 weeks. The results indicated that the proliferation of peripheral blood T lymphocytes in the chickens exposed to white and green lights significantly increased when compared with other groups at 37 days of age (P < 0.05). In the early days, the results were different. The enhancement of T lymphocytes proliferation with green and yellow lights occurred at 18 days, whereas the enhancement with green light was less than other lights at 30 days. Red light promoted NO (nitrix oxide) production at maximum level in the chickens, while green light suppressed it at minimum level after 37 days. These results suggested that green and white lights had strong effects on immunity, especially at the last days of rearing.
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is among the most common and preventable cancers, the incidence and risk factors of which are different in various populations. Objectives: The present study aims ...at assessing incidence rate, risk factors, and symptoms of CRC among the populations aged 50 to 70 years old covered by the health centers in Arak, as well as evaluating participation rate in the CRC screening program. Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted from 2016 to 2019 among all of the individuals aged 50 to 70 years old, who were referred to rural, urban, and suburban health centers in Arak for CRC screening, and their data were recorded in the Sib system. The participation rate, risk factors (family and individual history of CRC, colorectal adenoma, and inflammatory bowel disease), symptoms (lower gastrointestinal bleeding, constipation with or without diarrhea, and weight loss), and crude incidence rate of CRC were calculated in the age range. Results: The mean (SD) age of the CRC was 59.72 (5.56) years. In addition, the individuals’ participation rate in the program was about 44.2%, which was more among women (55.5%) and villagers (93.7%). Most subjects complained of constipation in the last month and CRC family history. The CRC crude incidence rates were 35.93 (95% CI: 25.55 - 50.54), 40.96 (95% CI: 29.81 - 56.29), 43.76 (95% CI: 32.22 - 59.43), and 52.84 (95% CI: 40.05 - 69.71) per 100000 individuals during 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively. Conclusions: The participation rate in the CRC screening program was low, and the trend of the cancer crude incidence rate increased among the populations aged 50 to 70 years. Finally, informing about the recognition of the risk factors and symptoms of cancer, as well as the timely referral for screening was considered essential.
Background
Gastrointestinal cancers are considered as the most common type of cancer among men and the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer in Iran. This study was performed to ...investigate the epidemiology of gastrointestinal cancer in Markazi Province.
Methods
This is an epidemiological study in which data was gathered from the population-based cancer registry program in the Markazi province of Iran during the years 2010–2014. Data were recorded in Excel software and coded based on ICD-O. All cases out of Markazi provinces were excluded from study, and cases with code C-15-C20 were included in this study. Stata 11 was used to analyze the data.
Results
In this study, 2975 new cases of gastrointestinal cancer in Markazi province were included in the analysis. The highest number of cancers was stomach (with 1595 cases), followed by colorectal cancer (980 cases), esophageal cancer (318 cases), and finally small bowl cancer (82 cases). The mean age of gastro-intestinal cancer diagnosis was 65.07 years. The results showed that with increasing age, the incidence of gastro-intestinal cancers increased, and in all sites and both sexes, the highest incidence of gastro-intestinal cancer was in the age group above 70 years. In both sexes, the age specific rate of stomach cancer was higher than other sites (with highest incidence in 2013) followed by colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, and small bowl cancer.
Conclusions
The results showed similar incidence rate of gastrointestinal cancer in Markazi province to other provinces in Iran. This study found that stomach cancer is the most common cancer in the Markazi province; therefore, identifying effective and preventing factors is necessary

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most burdensome cancers worldwide. Despite advancements in diagnostic and treatment modalities, developing countries are still dealing with increasing burdens and ...existing disparities. This study provides estimates of BC burden and associated risk factors in Iran at the national and subnational levels over 30 years (1990-2019).
Data on BC burden for Iran were retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study from 1990 to 2019. GBD estimation methods were applied to explore BC incidence, prevalence, deaths, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and attributable burden to risk factors based on the GBD risk factors hierarchy. Moreover, decomposition analysis was performed to find the contribution of population growth, aging, and cause-specific incidence in the total incidence change. Age-standardized rates (per 100,000 population) and 95% uncertainty intervals (UI) were reported based on sex, age, and socio-demographic index (SDI).
Age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR) increased from 18.8 (95% UI 15.3-24.1)/100,000 in 2019 to 34.0 (30.7-37.9)/100,000 in 2019 among females and from 0.2/100,000 (0.2-0.3) to 0.3/100,000 (0.3-0.4) among males. Age-standardized deaths rate (ASDR) increased slightly among females from 10.3 (8.2-13.6)/100,000 in 1990 to 11.9 (10.8-13.1)/100,000 in 2019 and remained almost the same among males-0.2/100,000 (0.1-0.2). Age-standardized DALYs rate also increased from 320.2 (265.4-405.4) to 368.7 (336.7-404.3) among females but decreased slightly in males from 4.5 (3.5-5.8) to 4.0 (3.5-4.5). Of the 417.6% increase in total incident cases from 1990-2019, 240.7% was related to cause-specific incidence. In both genders, the BC burden increased by age, including age groups under 50 before routine screening programs, and by SDI levels; the high and high-middle SDI regions had the highest BC burden in Iran. Based on the GBD risk factors hierarchy, high fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and alcohol were estimated to have the most and the least attributed DALYs for BC among females, respectively.
BC burden increased from 1990 to 2019 in both genders, and considerable discrepancies were found among different provinces and SDI quintiles in Iran. These increasing trends appeared to be associated with social and economic developments and changes in demographic factors. Improvements in registry systems and diagnostic capacities were also probably responsible for these growing trends. Raising general awareness and improving screening programs, early detection measures, and equitable access to healthcare systems might be the initial steps to tackle the increasing trends.

Our aim was to investigate the ...clinical and para-clinical manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 in children in the Central province of Iran. Materials and Methods We investigated the clinical and para-clinical manifestations of children referred to all hospitals in the Central Province of Iran from March 2019 to June 2020. Results We surveyed 96 pediatric patients hospitalized in hospitals in the Central Province of Iran. The average age of the patients was 110 months. 53% of patients (51 people) were male. The analysis did not show a significant relationship between the laboratory results and the gender of the patients. Conclusion Male and female pediatric patients had the same condition in terms of clinical manifestations, laboratory results and antibiotic use.
Abstract
An updated exploration of the burden of thyroid cancer across a country is always required for making correct decisions. The objective of this study is to present the thyroid cancer burden ...and attributed burden to the high Body Mass Index (BMI) in Iran at national and sub-national levels from 1990 to 2019. The data was obtained from the GBD 2019 study estimates. To explain the pattern of changes in incidence from 1990 to 2019, decomposition analysis was conducted. Besides, the attribution of high BMI in the thyroid cancer DALYs and deaths were obtained. The age-standardized incidence rate of thyroid cancer was 1.57 (95% UI: 1.33–1.86) in 1990 and increased 131% (53–191) until 2019. The age-standardized prevalence rate of thyroid cancer was 30.19 (18.75–34.55) in 2019 which increased 164% (77–246) from 11.44 (9.38–13.85) in 1990. In 2019, the death rate, and Disability-adjusted life years of thyroid cancer was 0.49 (0.36–0.53), and 13.16 (8.93–14.62), respectively. These numbers also increased since 1990. The DALYs and deaths attributable to high BMI was 1.91 (0.95–3.11) and 0.07 (0.04–0.11), respectively. The thyroid cancer burden and high BMI attributed burden has increased from 1990 to 2019 in Iran. This study and similar studies’ results can be used for accurate resource allocation for efficient management and all potential risks’ modification for thyroid cancer with a cost-conscious view.
The present study investigates the implantation of political science terminology approved by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature (APLL) in the Hamshahri corpus made up of news text from ...Hamshahri newspaper and their acceptability among MA students of English translation studies (ETS), English literature (EL), and Political science (PS). To conduct this research the frequencies of the political terms approved by the APLL with their competing terms were compiled from the corpus. For analyzing another group of terms without competing terms, 90 MA students were purposively selected from the abovementioned majors. Accordingly, a 60-item 5-point Likert Scale questionnaire (including 60 political terms) along with an open-ended question were administered. The implantation coefficients (IC) of the first group of the terms with competing terms indicate that the factors such as conciseness and derivative capabilities result in higher IC. The descriptive results indicated that around two third of the ETS and EL students agree with the APLL-approved political science terms, while less than half of the PS students accept these neologisms. Moreover, the Chi-Square test (value of 92.000, p= 0.000 < 0.05) revealed that there is a correlation between the level of agreement and the major. In addition, Cramer’s V test result with the value of 0.092 indicated a weak correlation between the academic major and the attitude. Finally, analysis of the open-ended question showed that conciseness, transparency, morphological well-formedness, and familiarity with neologisms were the main reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with them.
