We present a catalog of Galactic star clusters, associations and candidates with 10978 entries. This multi-band catalog was constructed over 20 years, starting with visual inspections on the Digital ...Sky Survey and incremented with the 2MASS, WISE, VVV, Spitzer, and Herschel surveys. Large and small catalogs, as well as papers on individual objects have been systematically cross-identified. The catalog provides Galactic and equatorial coordinates, angular diameters, and chronologically ordered designations, making it simple to assign discoveries and verify how often the objects were cataloged by different authors, search methods, and/or surveys. Detection in a single band is the minimum constraint to validate an entry. About 3200 objects have measured parameters in the literature. A fundamental contribution of the present study is to present an additional 7700 objects for the first analyses of nature, photometry, spectroscopy and structure. The present focus is not to compile or determine fundamental parameters, but to provide a catalog uniformly characterizing the entries. A major result is that now 4234 embedded clusters are cataloged, a factor of 1.5 larger than open clusters. In addition to cross-identifications in different references and wavelength domains, we also communicate the discovery of 638 star clusters and similar objects. The present general catalog provides previously studied objects and thousands of additional entries in a homogeneous way, a timely contribution to Gaia-related works.
Nos últimos anos, o debate sobre questões de gênero tem se tornado foco de interesse da pesquisa em educação em ciências no Brasil. No entanto, existe uma escassez de artigos na literatura nacional ...que apresentem uma base teórica para os estudos de gênero na educação em ciências. Assim, apresentamos neste trabalho as maneiras de conhecer das mulheres, segundo a abordagem de Mary F. Belenky e suas colaboradoras, como possível referencial teórico para os estudos nessa área. São delineadas cinco perspectivas através das quais as mulheres tiram conclusões sobre verdade, conhecimento e realidade: o Silêncio; o Conhecimento recebido; o Conhecimento subjetivo; o Conhecimento processual; e o Conhecimento construído. Após descrever as cinco posições epistemológicas, mostramos como o estudo dessas autoras tem sido utilizado na pesquisa em educação em ciências e como suas ideias podem contribuir para o planejamento de intervenções em sala de aula que busquem promover um ensino de ciências que seja mais equitativo com relação ao gênero.
We present flux-calibrated integrated spectra in the optical spectral range of Galactic open clusters (GOCs) and Magellanic Cloud (MC) stellar clusters (SCs) obtained at CASLEO (Argentina). The SC ...parameters were derived using the equivalent-width (EW) method and the template-matching procedure by comparing the line strengths and continuum distribution of the cluster spectra with those of template spectra with known parameters. MC cluster reddening values were also estimated by interpolation between the available extinction maps. The derived ages for the GOCs range from 3 Myr to 4 Gyr, while those of the MC SCs vary from 3 Myr to 7 Gyr. E(B−V) colour-excess values in the MCs appear to be all lower than 0.17 mag, while those of the GOCs range from 0.00 to 2.40 mag. The present data led us to upgrade the spectral libraries of reference spectra or templates of solar and MC metallicities.

...The paperwork deals with offices, in particular, the limits imposed by legal system about at-will appointment to their candidate. The study starts from the analysis of public administration in Brazil, its characteristics and the implemented reforms over the years in order to improve it and to overcome rooted patrimonial practices in the Brazilian state. After examining the offices in general, the approach rests on the at-will appointments, the reason for its existence, the discipline afforded to them under national legal system, as well as the limits prescribed by law or arising from the constitutional principles on the appointment to their future occupants. This term paper deals with the control being exercised by the Public Administration itself, the Legislative (either directly or with the aid of the Court of Auditors) or by the Judiciary in relation to the appointment act and it seeks to identify possibilities of illegality (in the broadest sense) of that act, either for an offense against law or principles. The study points out that, unlike the understanding enshrined in binding precedent n. 13 of the Supreme Court, the appointment of relatives to offices, a practice known as nepotism, does not necessarily imply in offense to constitutional principles. The conclusion reached is in the sense that, in the absence of a formal law about the requirements to be met by the future occupant of an office, only the examination of the case peculiarities allows identifying potential harm to the Federal Constitution.
O trabalho aborda os cargos públicos de provimento em comissão, em especial, os limites impostos pelo ordenamento jurídico quanto à nomeação dos seus titulares. O estudo tem início a partir da análise da Administração Pública no Brasil, suas características e as reformas implementadas ao longo dos anos com o propósito de aprimorá-la e de superar práticas de natureza patrimonialista enraizadas no Estado brasileiro. Após o exame dos cargos públicos de uma forma geral, a abordagem recai sobre os cargos comissionados, a razão de sua existência, a disciplina a eles conferida pelo ordenamento jurídico nacional, bem como os limites previstos em lei ou decorrentes dos princípios constitucionais à nomeação dos seus futuros ocupantes. O trabalho trata do controle a ser exercido pela própria Administração Pública, pelo Poder Legislativo (diretamente ou com o auxílio do Tribunal de Contas) ou pelo Poder Judiciário em relação ao ato de nomeação, e busca identificar as hipóteses de ilegalidade em sentido amplo de tal ato, seja por ofensa à lei ou a princípios jurídicos. O estudo aponta que, diferentemente do entendimento consagrado na Súmula Vinculante n. 13 do Supremo Tribunal Federal, a nomeação de parentes para cargos de provimento em comissão, prática conhecida como nepotismo, não implica, necessariamente, ofensa a princípios constitucionais. A conclusão a que se chega é no sentido de que, inexistindo lei em sentido formal a respeito dos requisitos a serem atendidos pelo futuro ocupante de um cargo comissionado, apenas o exame das peculiaridades do caso concreto permite identificar eventual ofensa à Constituição Federal.
When we use optical isochrone-fitting solutions from the literature to 2mass CMDs, they are often not the best solutions in the infrared domain. We analysed 10 open clusters with 2mass, nine of them ...previously studied with optical photometry (NGC 1245, NGC 1342, NGC 1502, NGC 2104, NGC 2204, NGC 2243, NGC 2281, NGC 6709 and NGC 744) and one using integrated spectroscopy (BH 132). The study involved the classical (by eye) and a semi-automated method of isochrone fitting. We used the solutions of the first method as input for the second, looking for refined solutions. The semi-automated method uses a synthetic color–magnitude diagram (CMD), based on different Padova isochrones, to compare with the observed CMDs by means of likelihood statistics. The derived astrophysical parameters are age, distance and reddening values. The present results show better fits than those implied by the optical values. We also show that the semi-automated method decreases the parameter uncertainties.
No presente trabalho estudamos aglomerados abertos e/ou grupos estelares não tão densos com o objetivo de identificar prováveis estágios dinâmicos evoluídos de aglomerados abertos. A seleção dos ...grupos estelares partiu de uma lista de candidatos relativamente concentrados mas pouco povoados que seriam prováveis candidatos ao fenômeno dinâmico buscado (Bica et aI. 2001 7). Estes candidatos estão localizados a latitudes Galáticas relativamente altas (Ibl > 15°). Os grupos estelares NGC 1252 e NGC 1901 foram estudados nas bandas B e V através de fotometria CCD. O aglomerado aberto clássico velho M67 (NGC 2682) e o grupo estelar NGC 2664 foram estudados nas bandas J e H com dados do catálogo infravermelho 2MASS. NGC 1252 é uma concentração com aproximadamente 20 estrelas localizada a 20' ao norte das coordenadas originais no New General Catalogue, e a sudoeste da extensa região previamente indicada como sendo o objeto na literatura. O diagrama cor-magnitude de NGC 1252 sugere um turnoff e uma sequência principal, e um total de 12 prováveis membros. Simulamos um diagrama cor-magnitude do campo Galático na direção de cada um dos grupos estelares. Para NGC 1252 a simulação não apresentou semelhanças com o mesmo, e sugere que NGC 1252 não se trate de uma flutuação de campo. O ajuste de isócronas para os prováveis membros é consistente com um avermelhamento E(B-V) = 0.02, uma distância ao Sol d0 = 0.64 ± 0.07 kpc (Z = -0.46 kpc) e uma idade de 3 ± 1 Gano. Os dados disponíveis indicam que não podemos descartar a possibilidade de NGC 1252 ser um grupo físico, e se o for as evidências apontam não para um aglomerado aberto clássico mas sim um aglomerado aberto remanescente. NGC 1901 é freqüentemente descrito como um aglomerado aberto, encontramos uma clara sequência principal e similaridade com as Hyades. Obtivemos um avermelhamento de E(B-V) = 0.04, d0 = 0.45 ± 0.04kpc (Z = -0.23 kpc) e uma idade de 0.6 ± 1Gano. NGC 1901 é conclusivamente um sistema físico, dinamicamente comparável ou mais evoluído que as Hyades. Como análises com o catálogo 2MASS apenas começam a ser feitas, utilizamos M67 como objeto de comparação. Investigamos também se existe alguma relação entre M67 e NGC 2664, pois estão projetados próximos (~ 1°). Para obtenção dos parâmetros fundamentais de M67 partimos de valores presentes na literatura, que constatamos não estarem perfeitamente estabelecidos. Obtivemos para M67 um avermelhamento E(J-H) = 0.0, d0 = 0.72 ± 0.07kpc, e idade de 3.5 ± 0.5Ganos. Para NGC 2664 obtivemos um diagrama cor-magnitude sugerindo uma sequência principal, e a ocorrência pelo menos de 9 prováveis membros. O ajuste de isócronas é compatível com um avermelhamento E(J-H) = 0.0, d0= 0.69 ± 0.1kpc e idade de 1.5 ± 0.5 Gano. Subtrações estatísticas no diagrama cormagnitude de estrelas de campos circundantes dão apoio a NGC 2664 como um sistema físico. Ele parece ser um remanescente de aglomerado aberto do disco velho com aproximadamente metade da idade de M67. Para uma análise conclusiva são necessários astrometria, velocidades radiais e tipos espectrais para todos os prováveis membros.Aglomerados abertos evoluemdinamicamente e modelos de N-corpos têm indicado que um grande número de remanescentes são esperados próximos à dissolução. Só recentemente iniciaram-se esforços sistemáticos para detectá-Ios observacionalmente. O presente estudo, baseado no diagrama cor-magnitude indica que NGC1252 e NGC 2664 são prováveis candidatos ao fenômeno. NGC 1901 parece ser um elo entre um aglomerado aberto clássico e seus remanecentes.
ln the present work we study open clusters andjor loose stelIar groups in view of identifying probable late stages of open cluster dynamical evolution. The selection of stelIar groups was from a list of relatively concentrated and poorly populated probable candidates to open cluster remnants (Bica et aI. 2001 7). These candidates are located at relatively high galactic latitudes (lbl > 15°). The stelIar groups NGC 1252 and NGC 1901 are studied in the B and V bands with CCD photometry. The classical old open cluster M67 (NGC 2682) and the stelIar group NGC 2664 are studied in the J and H bands from the 2MASS survey. NGC 1252 consists of a concentration of about 20 stars centered ~ 20' north of the original New General Catalogue coordinates, and at the southwest edge ofthe large region previously assigned to this object in the literature. The colour-magnitude diagram of NGC 1252 suggests a turnoff and main sequence, and a total of 12 probable members.We simulated the Galactic field colour-magnitude diagrams in the directions of both stelIar groups. The field simulation for NGC 1252 is a poor match, suggesting that NGC 1252 is not a field fluctuation. lsochrone fitting to the probable members is consistent with a reddening E(B- V) = 0.02, a distance from the Sun de:)= 0.64 ± 0.07 Kpc (Z = -0.46 kpc) and an age 3 ± 1 Gyr. NGC 1252 connot be ruled out as a physical group with the available data. If so, evidence is found that it is not a classical open cluster, but rather an open cluster remnant. NGC 1901 is often described as an open cluster. We find a clear main sequence and NGC 1901 shares similarities with the Hyades. We derive E(B- V) = 0.04, de:)= 0.45 ± 0.04 kpc (Z= -0.23 kpc) and an age 0.6 ± 1 Gyr. NGC 1901 is conclusively a physical system, dynamicalIy comparable to or more evolved than the Hyades. The 2MASS infrared photometry is very recent, so we explore it by means of M67, which is used as comparison object. We investigate whether M67 and NGC2664 are related owing to the their angular proximity (~1°). To derive fundamental parameters for M67 we tested literature values, which we realized not to be perfectly established. We obtained for M67 E(J-H) = 0.0, de:) = 0.72 ± 0.07 kpc, and an age 3.5 ± Gyr. For NGC 2664 the colour-magnitude diagram suggests a main sequence, and 9 probable members. lsochrone fitting is compatible with E(J-H) = 0.0, de:)=0.69 ± 1, and an age 1.5 ± 0.5 Gyr. Statistical subtractions of surrounding field color-magnitude diagrams further support NGC 2664 as a physical stelIar group. If so, it appears to be an old disc open cluster remnant with about half the age of M67. For a more conclusive analysis astrometry, radial velocities and spectral types for alI probable members are required. Open clusters dynamically evolve and N-body simulations suggested that many remnants are expected close to dissolution. Only recently more systematic efforts have been made to observationalIy detect open cluster remnants. The present study based on the analysis of colour-magnitude diagrams indicates that NGC 1252 and NGC 2664 are probable candidates to the phenomenon. NGC 1901 appears to be a link between classical open clusters and their remnants.

o presente trabalho busca ampliar o conhecimento das relações entre aglomerados abertos de estrelas e seus remanescentes. Do ponto de vista observacional, um remanescente pode ser definido como uma ...concentração pouco povoada de estrelas resultante da evolução dinâmica de um sistema inicialmente mais massivo. Apesar do avanços no conhecimento teórico a respeito desses objetos e, nos últimos anos, da busca pela identificação observacional dos mesmos ter aumep.tado, muitas questões permanecem em aberto. Assim, no presente estudo serão analisados 23 candidatos a remanescentes através de dados fotométricos, espectroscópicos e de movimentos próprios. Esses dados fornecem informações sobre os objetos e seus campos. Por meio destas, buscam-se estabelecer critérios de definição de remanescentes de aglomerados abertos, levando-se em conta incertezas observacionais. Os dados fotométricos no infravermelho oriundos do catálogo The Two Micron Ali sky Survey possibilitam, nesse estudo, (i) estudar as propriedades estruturais dos objetos por meio dos perfis de densidade radial de estrelas; (ii) testar a semelhanças entre objetos e campos através de um método estatístico de comparação entre distribuições de estrelas no plano do diagrama cor-magnitude e, (iii) obter idades, avermelhamentos e distâncias com o uso de diagramas cor-magnitude, além de distinguir os objetos em função de um índice de ajuste de isócronas. Os dados espectroscópicos obtidos através de observações óticas no Complejo Astronómico EI Leoncito (Argentina) fornecem para 12 objetos da amostra informações adicionais de avermelhamentos e idades. Os dados cinemáticos extraídos do The Second U. S. Naval Observatory CCD Astrograph Catalog permitem, por sua vez, uma comparação objetiva entre a distribuição de movimentos próprios dos objetos e campos próximos de grande ângulo sólido O emprego desses métodos complementares se mostra essencial no estudo em função da carência de dados completos para os candidatos a remanescentes. No que diz respeito à amostra, em geral não é possível afirmar individualmente qual objeto caracteriza-se de forma definitiva como um remanescente de aglomerado aberto devido à incompleteza dos dados, às incertezas observacionais e à baixa estatística. Entretanto, os métodos desenvolvidos permitem uma análise objetiva e sugerem a presença de remanescentes de aglomerados abertos na amostra. Além disso, há evidência da presença de binarismo, o que é esperado para sistemas evoluídos dinamicamente. Portanto, pode-se inferir sobre estágios evolutivos para remanescentes a partir das distribuições de movimento próprio de suas estrelas e de seu mapeamento no diagrama cor-magnitude.
Astron.Astrophys. 427 (2004) 485-494 The spatial dependence of luminosity and mass functions of evolved open
clusters is discussed in this work using J and H 2MASS photometry. The target
objects are ...the overlooked open cluster NGC2180 and the intermediate-age open
cluster NGC3680. We conclude that, although in an advanced dynamical state
(mass segregated), NGC3680 does not present strong signs of dissolution. On the
other hand, NGC2180 presents flat, eroded LFs throughout its structure,
indicating that in addition to mass segregation, Galactic tidal stripping has
been effective in depleting this cluster of stars. Accordingly, NGC2180 may be
the missing link between evolved open clusters and remnants. We study both
clusters in the context of dynamical states estimated from diagnostic-diagrams
involving photometric and structural parameters. Both clusters are dynamically
evolved systems. In particular, NGC2180 is closer to open cluster remnants than
NGC3680.
ESO Messenger 155, (2014), 29-32 The VISTA Variables in the V\'ia L\'actea (VVV) survey is one of six public
ESO surveys, and is now in its 4th year of observing. Although far from being
complete, ...the VVV survey has already delivered many results, some directly
connected to the intended science goals (detection of variables stars,
microlensing events, new star clusters), others concerning more exotic objects,
e.g. novae. Now, at the end of the fourth observing period, and comprising
roughly 50% of the proposed observations, the actual status of the survey, as
well some of the results based on the VVV data, are presented.
