The proposed hypotheses are tested using structural equation modeling, hierarchical regression and mediation analysis.FindingsFindings suggest that ESM usage is positively related to communication quality and visibility. Communication visibility mediates the relationship between ESM usage and employee agility. ESM-related strain reduces the relationship between communication visibility and employee agility. However, ESM-related strain has an insignificant moderating effect on the relationship between communication quality and employee agility.Originality/valueThe present study examines how employee agility is associated with ESM usage in the workplace. The mediating effects of communication quality and visibility are explored using a theoretical foundation. This study provides empirical evidence on how the impact of ESM on employee agility is transmitted through communication visibility. Lastly, the current study quantifies the advantages of ESM for organizations and may motivate managers to confidently deploy ESM in the workplace.
The global crisis of COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the world economy and healthcare, igniting much fear, panic, and uncertainty among billions of people. As lockdowns being implemented in many ...places, panic buying has emerged as a reliable feature of the Coronavirus outbreak. Therefore, it is of urgent needs to examine consumers' panic buying behaviors during COVID-19 to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon and to provide managerial insights for policy-makers and marketers alike. In this study, under the theoretical guidelines of the Stimuli-Organism-Response model and the Competitive Arousal model, we investigate how in the panic situation created by the pandemic, external stimuli such as Limited Quantity Scarcity (LQS) and Limited Time Scarcity (LTS) affect the emotional arousal among people, which in turn influences consumers’ impulsive and obsessive buying behaviors. This study is conducted in a multi-country setting including the U.S., China, India, and Pakistan. Online surveys were conducted during the peak time of pandemic. Our findings show that LQS and LTS significantly increase perceived arousal in consumers, which further leads to more impulsive and obsessive buying. In addition, our results also reveal that excessive social media use intensifies the relationship between scarcity messages and perceived arousal whereas the urge to buy impulsively moderates the relationship between perceived arousal and behavioral outcomes in all selected countries except for India. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed in details.

Drawing upon the communication visibility theory, this study delves into the intricate dynamics of message transference and network translucence within the context of enterprise social media (ESM), ...unraveling their profound impact on information overload and social overload experienced by employees. Consequently, we examine the consequential relationship between these overwhelming cognitive burdens and the levels of work stress experienced by individuals in the organizational setting. Moreover, our study explores the moderating role of resilience, shedding light on how this intrinsic psychological trait can shape the connection among information overload, social overload, and work stress. Based on empirical analysis of the data collected from 351 ESM users, the findings demonstrate a significant positive association between message transference, network translucence, and the occurrence of information overload and social overload among employees. Furthermore, the results reveal a strong positive association among information overload and social overload over work stress. However, the salient contribution of this study lies in uncovering the pivotal moderating effect of resilience, revealing that high levels of resilience act as a buffer against the adverse impacts of information overload and social overload, leading to lower levels of work stress among individuals. By advancing our comprehension of communication visibility theory, this study adds to the theoretical underpinnings of communication visibility, resilience, and their interplay in the context of ESM while providing practical insights for employees and organizations to navigate the challenges posed by information overload, social overload, and work stress. Through its meticulous examination of these multifaceted phenomena, this study opens avenues for further research and invites scholars to probe deeper into the complex dynamics of communication visibility and resilience in the evolving landscape of contemporary organizations.
The significant effect of enterprise social media (ESM) usage has been extensively researched. However, recent studies and analysis have also emphasized the importance of understanding the negative ...aspects of ESM's use. By applying uses and gratifications theory (UGT), this study proposes a research model that tests how employees' ESM usage (hedonic, social, and information values) leads to ESM-related strain through perceived information overload. The study collected data from 315 Chinese employees using a survey method and analyzed the results using AMOS 21.0 software. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to analyze the proposed hypothesis. The results indicate that perceived hedonic, social, and information values are significant predictors of perceived information overload. Such overload is also significantly associated with ESM-related strain. The results also indicate that ESM visibility strengthens the significant relationship between perceived information overload and ESM-related strain. Furthermore, managers can also train individuals to use ESM appropriately. We recommend that employees can better control and manage their ESM usage by recognizing the causes of excessive use.
Enterprise social media (ESM) has been widely adopted by firms for employee work-related communication. However, it is still debatable how such usage benefits work stress and employee work ...efficiency. Applying the transactional theory of stress, this study examined the impact of resilience as a moderator on the link between work stressors and individual work efficiency. A total of 285 entries were used to analyze the proposed hypothesis, using structural equation modeling (SEM) technique and hierarchical regression analysis on SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 software. According to the findings, ESM use has a considerable impact on work stresses (challenge and hindrance). The findings also revealed that challenge stressors have a beneficial influence on employee work efficiency, while hindrance stressors have a negative impact on it. Furthermore, the results also indicated that resilience strengthens the positive relationship between challenge-stressed employees and work efficiency. However, the findings also revealed that resilience reduces the negative association between hindrance-stress and work efficiency. Finally, the author also explored the study's implications for theory and management.
This study uses the conservation of resource theory to examine the effects of psychopathic leadership on employee career satisfaction and turnover intention via self-efficacy. This study also ...examined the buffering effect of human resource practice (HRP) on career satisfaction and turnover intentions, which may be affected by the psychopathic leadership. This study used 298 employees and respective supervisors of tourism enterprises from southern China as a sample to collect research data at two different time intervals. The results show that by increasing the psychopathic leadership, career satisfaction declines. Moreover, the HRP's buffering effect reduces employee turnover intentions through self-efficacy, especially under the psychopathic leadership. This study provides an overview of the research on the psychopathic leadership and highlights areas where further investigation may yield benefits tourism industry.
Research on counterfeit purchase intention has attracted enough attention, and a number of studies have investigated various determinants of luxury counterfeit purchase intention in the offline ...context. However, less attention has focused on the underlying mechanism of the attitude toward luxury counterfeit purchase intention in the social commerce context. Moreover, extant literature has focused on the influence of compulsive internet use (CIU) on psychological well-being. Based on flow theory, this study examines the mediating role of CIU in the relationship between influencing factors (such as materialism, novelty-seeking behavior, and hedonic benefits) and consumers’ attitudes toward luxury counterfeit products. Additionally, the moderating role of product conspicuousness and positive online reviews also examined the direct effects. Data were collected from active online users of Taobao.com. Results show that materialism and novelty-seeking behavior are significantly related to CIU and subsequently influence the attitude toward luxury counterfeit goods. Furthermore, product conspicuousness and positive online reviews have moderated the direct effect of the conceptual framework. Therefore, the current research contributes to the existing literature by addressing the mediating CIU and moderating (product conspicuousness and positive online reviews) factors that played a significant role in promoting counterfeit purchase intention, comparing the direct effect to promote the counterfeit purchase intention. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed in detail.

Prior research has identified both positive and negative consequences arising from the widespread integration of social media within the organizations. The present research suggests that upward ...social comparison (USC) in social media is related to psychological disengagement resulting in knowledge hiding and lower innovative behavior of individuals. It further suggests that mindfulness mitigates the impact of USC in social media. A two-wave longitudinal survey reveals that individuals who engage in comparative self-assessment with friends projecting an aura of unattainable success on social media unwittingly cause psychological disengagement, a phenomenon which, in turn, precipitates a palpable decline in their innovative behavior and rise in knowledge hiding. Furthermore, our exploration unravels an intricate layer of this narrative – mindfulness of employees for online social interactions reduces this adverse cascade. This study draws attention to the necessity for vigilant managerial oversight. It serves as a clarion call, illuminating the concealed facets of social media, dappled with the intricate interplay of online social comparisons. This research transcends traditional paradigms by introducing a unique perspective on employee engagement with social media, contemplated in the context of online social comparison. It augments the current body of knowledge by shedding light on the complex interplay of these variables within the modern workforce.
The present research sheds light on how ESM (Enterprise Social media) usage (social, work) affects employee creativity through primary psychological standards (perceived relatedness, autonomy, and ...competence). Drawing on self-determination theory (SDT), current research also examines the mediating mechanism of basic psychological needs. Applying structural equation modeling (SEM), 415 samples were analyzed on AMSO 24.0 version. The results illustrated that social, and work-related ESM usage has a significant impact on basic psychological needs. Further, results revealed that perceived relatedness and competence are significant predictors of employee creativity. However, perceived autonomy has an insignificant effect on individual creativity. The present research also analyzed the mediating mechanism of basic psychological needs. Findings confirmed that perceived relatedness and competence mediate the connection between social, work-oriented ESM usage and individual creativity; whereas perceived autonomy did not mediate the link between social, work-oriented ESM usage and employee creativity. This study also has several implications in theory and practice.

The results show transactive memory system (TMS) as an important factor that can significantly contribute to knowledge creation in teams. Especially, the TMS strengthens the significant positive effect of enterprise social media (ESM) and insignificant positive effect of knowledge complementarity on knowledge creation. Furthermore, knowledge creation is found to be a significant predictor of team performanceOriginality/valueMuch of the knowledge management literature focuses on the ways to increase the quantity of accessible knowledge to organization members. Such knowledge management studies are more relevant to knowledge exchange among individual employees, teams and organizations. However, this study takes a nuanced approach to explore how knowledge creation can be increased in teams by implementing a knowledge integration mechanism. A general model of knowledge creation is proposed, but the strength of this model lies in the moderating effect of TMS which strengthens the effect of knowledge complementarity and ESM on knowledge creation in teams which eventually increases team performance.
