The paper deals with the method using the soil horizontal reaction modulus, or more genrally the math-y curves, used in the analysis of laterally loaded piles. The presentation proper of the analytical studies and of the results obtained is divided into two parts. A method of developing the math-y curves for rectangular piles and piers is presented, as well as the solutions for obtaining the soil-pile interaction parameters valid regardless the shape of the transverse area of piles. The comparison of the computed results with these obtained by field tests will make the object of a second paper.
In this paper we prove a Chen inequality involving the scalar curvature and a Chen-Ricci inequality for special contact slant submanifolds of Sasakian space forms, as the contact versions of the ...inequalities obtained by the first author in 15 and by both authors in 17, respectively.
B. Y. Chen proved in 4 an optimal inequality for Lagrangian submanifolds in complex space forms in terms of the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature, well-known as the Chen-Ricci ...inequality. Recently, the Chen-Ricci inequality was improved in 7, 11 for Lagrangian submanifolds in complex space forms. In this article we extend the improved Chen-Ricci inequality to Kaehlerian slant submanifolds in complex space forms. We also investigate the equality case of the inequality.

The Cyanobacterium Spirulina is commercialized for its use in health foods and for therapeutic purposes due to its valuable constituents particularly proteins and vitamins. The aim of the paper is to ...study the Spirulina platensis behaviour when it is electron beam irradiated for biological decontamination. Microbial load, antioxidant activity, enzymatic inhibition, electron spin resonance (ESR) and UV–Vis spectra were measured for doses up to 80kGy. The results were correlated with doses in order to find where decontamination is efficient, keeping the Spirulina qualities.
Powdered adsorbent obtained from bathurst burr biomass was tested for methylene blue removal from aqueous solutions. SEM and FTIR analyses were used to characterize the adsorbent before and after ...adsorption. The influence of contact time, adsorbent dose, pH, initial dye concentration, ionic strength and temperature on the process were investigated. Kinetic, equilibrium and thermodynamic studies were conducted to analyse the process. The Taguchi method was used to establish the most suitable conditions for the dye adsorption. The process is spontaneous, favourable, and exothermic and the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second order kinetic model best describe it. The Taguchi method indicate that the ionic strength is the factor with the greatest influence on the adsorption process.
"Lynch syndrome (LS) is one of the most common inherited cancer predisposition syndromes and the most important cause of hereditary colorectal and endometrial cancers. It is inherited in an autosomal ...dominant pattern, caused by a pathogenic germline variant in one of the mismatch repair (MMR) genes (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, or PMS2), which encode proteins responsible for maintaining genome stability. A defective MMR system confers an elevated risk of developing certain types of cancer, at a younger age than in the general population and at a high rate of multiple primary neoplasia. Lynch syndrome is not just one disease, but a collection of different subtypes of underlying molecular aspects with specific clinical implications. A better understanding of these subgroup profiles could offer better care for each patient, leading to more personalized risk-reduction and surveillance strategies. Lynch syndrome is a frequent but yet underdiagnosed condition that needs multidisciplinary increased awareness for correct diagnosis and management. The aim of this review is to provide a summary of available literature data on the genetic aspects of Lynch syndrome together with geno-type-phenotype correlations and its clinical implications in the detection, genetic counseling, genetic testing, risk stratification, and management of this condition."
Abstract
We live in a noisy world. We constantly undergoing in various types of noise that affect our quality of life. It is well known that noise is not only a problem but also a serious threat to ...health. The effects, that noise exposure has on health is a public serious problem, and is becoming more acute, which can occur at both, mentally and physically levels
