This article analyzes the relationship between economic cycle and
inequality in the Spanish regions in the period 2003-2011. The results indicate
that inequality presents a clearly cyclical behavior: ...During the expansionary phase
(2003-2007) the inequality and polarization decrease meanwhile during the recessionary
phase (2008-2011) a clear increase of inequality has occurred. Also the
increase of poverty has been observed. At a regional level, these regions with lower
GDP per capita experience higher increases of inequality as a consequence of the
crisis, so the welfare gaps between regions becomes larger.
En este artículo se estudia la relación entre ciclo económico y desigualdad
a través de las regiones en España en el periodo 2003-2011. Los resultados
muestran que la desigualdad presenta un marcado comportamiento cíclico:
en el periodo expansivo (2003-2007) la desigualdad y la polarización disminuye,
mientras que en la fase recesiva (2008-2011) existe un aumento en la desigualdad.
También se ha observado que ha aumentado la intensidad de la pobreza. A nivel
regional se nota que aquellas regiones con menor PIB per cápita presentan mayores
incrementos en la desigualdad a causa de la crisis, con lo cual las brechas en bienestar
entre regiones crecen considerablemente
Este artículo surge de una experiencia y reflexión personal como artista y profesora en formación, que plantea la crisis cultural y educativa en Chile como el contexto donde opera el sistema tanto ...artístico como educacional, y que ante la emergencia cultural, desde el rol social del artista surge la necesidad de educar como la única solución. A raíz de esto, posteriormente se aborda el límite difuso entre el rol del artista y el rol del educador estableciendo un paralelo de factores que constituyen una metodología compartida en el modo de operar de ambos roles, que reflexiona en torno al constante diálogo y tránsito entre estos quehaceres. Finalmente se exponen las fortalezas y debilidades de ambas disciplinas que confirman la interdependencia de los roles en virtud de la misión social compartida.
This document analyzes the problems of the departmental convergence in Colombia between the periods of 1975-2005. A study does not exist where there shows the possible formation of clubs or groups of ...convergence at departmental level. For that is proposed the estimation of convergence equation with individual effect fixed, calculating stationary state from equilibrium to each department to pay attention to valor of this individual effect fixed and to define convergence clubs to pay attention the similarity of each stationary state. Among the main findings we can mention the following: there exists evidence to suggest a process of formation of four regional clubs characterized by similar economic factors. The first two groups make up the most developed departments, while the last two make up poorest regions.

The main aim of this article is to analyse the change of adult skills, as captured by cognitive skills assessed in PIAAC, across age cohorts, taking into account that the quality of schooling may ...change from one cohort to another. We estimate a model that relates numeracy and literacy skills to age, schooling, gender and variables related to both family background and labour market performance. The specification allows us to control for changes in the efficiency of the transformation of schooling into skills when drawing age‐skill profiles. Our results show that the effect of ageing on skills, once isolated from cohort effects related to schooling, decreases monotonically across consecutive cohorts. The change of the efficiency of the transformation of schooling into both numeracy and literacy skills shows a remarkably similar pattern. Nonetheless, this change differs substantially between education levels, with the efficiency of the transformation of schooling into skills showing a steadier profile for intermediate than for higher education. Finally, empirical evidence is provided for the decomposition of the differences in the skill levels of the older vs. the prime age generations. The results suggest that the progressive expansion of schooling across younger generations partially offsets the negative effect of the irrepressible ageing of society on skills.
El objetivo de este trabajo es contribuir a cubrir el déficit de información respecto a la estimación del PIB municipal presentando un método de cálculo basado en la estimación de la productividad ...sectorial diferencial de la ciudad respecto a su Comunidad Autónoma. Se utilizan los diferenciales salariales sectoriales entre las ciudades y las Comunidades Autónomas estimados a partir de la Muestra Continua de Vidas Laborales para el período 2010-2016. Los resultados parecen indicar que se están recogiendo aspectos relevantes de la economía de las ciudades como, entre otros, potenciales economías de aglomeración.
This paper analyses the effect of job accessibility on job‐education mismatch in the metropolitan area of Barcelona with regard to both public and private transport. Transit accessibility is defined ...in terms of the spatial distribution of employment relative to travel time by public transport, whereas accessibility by private transport is approximated by car availability. The results obtained from a joint model for car ownership, employment selectivity and mismatch confirm that car availability matters for job‐education mismatch. Moreover, public transport connectivity to job locations favours the matching between schooling and occupation in the urban labour market.
Resumen
Este artículo analiza el efecto del acceso al empleo en la disparidad entre trabajo y educación en el área metropolitana de Barcelona en materia de transporte público y privado. La accesibilidad del tránsito se define en términos de la distribución espacial del empleo en relación con el tiempo de viaje en transporte público, mientras que la accesibilidad mediante transporte privado se estima mediante la disponibilidad de automóvil. Los resultados obtenidos a partir de un modelo conjunto para la propiedad de un automóvil, la selectividad del empleo y la disparidad confirman que la disponibilidad de un automóvil influye en la disparidad entre educación y trabajo. Por otra parte, la conectividad del transporte público a los lugares de trabajo favorece la relación positiva entre educación y puesto de trabajo en el mercado laboral urbano.

本稿では、バルセロナの大都市圏における職業と学歴のミスマッチに対する通勤の利便性(job accessibility)の影響を、公共輸送機関と個人輸送の両方の観点から分析する。乗り継ぎの利便性は、個人輸送の利便性は自家用車の利用可能性により近似されるため、公共輸送機関での移動時間に関連する空間的な雇用の分布によって定義する。自家用車の所有、雇用の選択性、雇用のミスマッチに関するジョイントモデルから得られた結果から、自家用車の利用可能性が職業と学歴のミスマッチに影響することが確認される。さらに、都市部の労働市場では、公共輸送機関で職場に通えることが、学校で受けた教育と職業のマッチングにプラスの効果を与える。
El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en aportar elementos para tratar de desentrañar la aparente relación paradójica entre la educación y la distribución del ingreso durante el período 1984-2000. ...Para ello nos servimos de una descomposición de las funciones de ingreso de los hogares, que aisla el efecto de cada una de las variables incluidas en este tipo de funciones, poniendo particular atención a las variables de capital humano En general se constata que la escolaridad del cabeza de familia tiene un papel cada vez más importante en la determinación del nivel de desigualdad del ingreso. Posteriormente, se lleva a cabo un análisis de carácter dinámico, en cuanto se evalúa cómo los cambios experimentados en determinadas variables (educación, experiencia laboral, género del cabeza de familia, tamaño de la misma, etc.) inciden sobre los cambios en la distribución del ingreso. La conclusión básica es que, no obstante que los niveles de educación son importantes en la explicación del nivel de desigualdad del ingreso, la evolución de los rendimientos del capital humano determina claramente la evolución de la desigualdad del ingreso: cuando los rendimientos en los niveles elevados de formación se incrementan la desigualdad del ingreso tiende a empeorar, y viceversa. The objective of this research is to contribute in the effort to explain the seemingly paradoxical relation between education and income distribution during the period 1984-2000. For that purpose we use a decomposition of households' income functions, that isolates the effect of each of the variables included in this kind of functions, focusing on the human capital variables. Generally, it is checked that the family head's schooling plays each time a more important role in determining the level of income inequality. Subsequently, an analysis of dynamic nature is carried out to assess how the changes on certain variables (schooling, work experience, family head's gender, family size, etc.) affect income distribution. The basic conclusion is that despite of the importance of schooling levels to explain income inequality, the evolution of the human capital yields clearly determines the evolution of income inequality: when yields in high schooling levels are increased, income inequality tends to get worse and vice versa.

This article analyzes the evolution of regional differences in Spain and emphasizes the importance of a disaggregate analysis at a sectoral level. In particular, the authors observe convergence in ...productivity at the aggregate regional level but not at the sectoral level. Aggregate convergence seems to be due to the gradual homogenization of regional productive structures. This result may modify some of the conclusions drawn in the recent literature regarding the mechanisms that have generated convergence. In addition, we examine the so-called beta convergence hypothesis using a fixed-effects model. The results show the importance of regional specificity captured by the fixed effects and have implications that are very different from those of beta convergence analyses with cross-section data.
