The evolution of Idrija, the oldest mining town in Slovenia, has always been affiliated with the extraction of mercury-rich ore, which is why the settlement was shaped as an agglomeration alongside ...the mining shafts and objects. The extraction of mercury also brought about the flow of knowledge. Knowledge, as well as attitudes towards it, gained great importance in the town, being considered a technological capital, and one of the founding characteristics of the Idrija habitus, which also encompasses a wide spectrum of the town’s imaginarium. Parts of this are definitely the heritage of mining, architectural heritage, and non-material (living) heritage, represented primarily by Idrija lace, the Miners’ Brass Band, and culinary specialties (žlikrofi). The characteristics and achievements of the mining activity, local culture and community are all listed on the UNESCO world heritage list. The most important places of the imaginarium of the town are the restored individual important objects and machinery, and certain places which held an important historical memory and thus became the founding identity of the network. Everything that was left out, and remained unrestored, dislocated from the visual field, is slowly fading from the consciousness of the community, despite the fact that some of these places held an important historical value, and thus they are losing an identifying role and symbolic meaning to the community. The image of the town has, for centuries, been dual: the mining and bourgeois bottom of the valley and the miners’ dwellings in the margins. Such a memory of the town is slowly fading away, although individual exceptional buildings and devices, in which the heritage of the town and mining are concentrated, still stand out.

The primary issue that most Unmanned aerial System (UAS) face is their low situational awareness due to a lack of an onboard pilot. This makes UASs an increased mid-air collision risk while operating ...in the same air space as other UASs and other manned systems. Many UASs compensate for a lack of situational awareness by using one or more sensors to detect possible collisions. While some UAS platforms are large and powerful enough to carry high Size , weight , and Power (SWaP) such as Radio Frequency (RF) sensors however , the majority of platforms lack the ability to implement these high SWaP usage sensors. However, with the advent of improved RF systems such as Software Defined Radar (SDR), and RF Systems on Chips (RFSoC), RF sensors are becoming a viable option for use in sense and avoid systems for smaller UAS platforms. This thesis describes the implementation of a real time Radio Frequency (RF) detection processing algorithm onto a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) logic included for use in a low Size, weight, and Power (SWaP) usage Sense and Avoid (SaA) system. The detection processing system is shown to be capable of processing the RF data in realtime and is able to generate detections from the processed RF data.
Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a problem of increasing significance, but has been a long-standing concern in the treatment of tuberculosis (TB) infection. The liver has a central role in drug ...metabolism and detoxification, and is consequently vulnerable to injury. The pathogenesis and types of DILI are presented, ranging from hepatic adaptation to hepatocellular injury. Knowledge of the metabolism of anti-TB medications and of the mechanisms of TB DILI is incomplete. Understanding of TB DILI has been hampered by differences in study populations, definitions of hepatotoxicity, and monitoring and reporting practices. Available data regarding the incidence and severity of TB DILI overall, in selected demographic groups, and in those coinfected with HIV or hepatitis B or C virus are presented. Systematic steps for prevention and management of TB DILI are recommended. These include patient and regimen selection to optimize benefits over risks, effective staff and patient education, ready access to care for patients, good communication among providers, and judicious use of clinical and biochemical monitoring. During treatment of latent TB infection (LTBI) alanine aminotransferase (ALT) monitoring is recommended for those who chronically consume alcohol, take concomitant hepatotoxic drugs, have viral hepatitis or other preexisting liver disease or abnormal baseline ALT, have experienced prior isoniazid hepatitis, are pregnant or are within 3 months postpartum. During treatment of TB disease, in addition to these individuals, patients with HIV infection should have ALT monitoring. Some experts recommend biochemical monitoring for those older than 35 years. Treatment should be interrupted and, generally, a modified or alternative regimen used for those with ALT elevation more than three times the upper limit of normal (ULN) in the presence of hepatitis symptoms and/or jaundice, or five times the ULN in the absence of symptoms. Priorities for future studies to develop safer treatments for LTBI and for TB disease are presented.
RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) regulate genetic diversity, but the degree to which they do so in individual cell types in vivo is unknown. We developed NOVA2 cTag-crosslinking and immunoprecipitation ...(CLIP) to generate functional RBP-RNA maps from different neuronal populations in the mouse brain. Combining cell type datasets from Nova2-cTag and Nova2 conditional knockout mice revealed differential NOVA2 regulatory actions on alternative splicing (AS) on the same transcripts expressed in different neurons. This includes functional differences in transcripts expressed in cortical and cerebellar excitatory versus inhibitory neurons, where we find NOVA2 is required for, respectively, development of laminar structure, motor coordination, and synapse formation. We also find that NOVA2-regulated AS is coupled to NOVA2 regulation of intron retention in hundreds of transcripts, which can sequester the trans-acting splicing factor PTBP2. In summary, cTag-CLIP complements single-cell RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) studies by providing a means for understanding RNA regulation of functional cell diversity.
