Abstract
Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) is designed as a fourth-generation light source based on the diffraction-limited storage ring (DLSR). The pre-research for this design is complete. Due ...to the smaller beam dynamic aperture, about 6 mm, a novel dual-channel kicker has been purposed and designed, with other two traditional kicker, combined the new injection system bump system. This paper presented the principle and layout and the detail of the novel dual-channel kicker.
This article describes the mercury contaminated sites in Asia. Among the various regions, Asia has become the largest contributor of anthropogenic atmospheric mercury (Hg), responsible for over half ...of the global emission. Based on different emission source categories, the mercury contaminated sites in Asia were divided into various types, such as Hg pollution from Hg mining, gold mining, chemical industry, metal smelting, coal combustion, metropolitan cities, natural resources and agricultural sources. By the review of a large number of studies, serious Hg pollutions to the local environment were found in the area influenced by chemical industry, mercury mining and gold mining. With the probable effects of a unique combination of climatic (e.g. subtropical climate), environmental (e.g. acid rain), economic (e.g. swift growth) and social factors (e.g. high population density), more effort is still needed to understand the biogeochemistry cycle of Hg and associated health effects in Asia. Safer alternatives and cleaner technologies must be developed and effectively implemented to reduce mercury emission; remedial techniques are also required to restore the historical mercury pollution in Asia.
In yeast, activation of ATG1/ATG13 kinase complex initiates autophagy. This mechanism of autophagy initiation is conserved, as unc-51-like kinase 1 (ULK1) and unc-51-like kinase 2 (ULK2) are two ...mammalian functional homologues of ATG1 and form similar complex with mammalian ATG13. Here, we report that both ULK1 and ULK2 are transcriptional targets of tumor suppressor p53. In response to DNA damage, ULK1 and ULK2 are upregulated by p53. The upregulation of ULK1 (ULK2)/ATG13 complex by p53 is necessary for the sustained autophagy activity induced by DNA damage. In this context, elevated autophagy contributes to subsequent cell death. These findings suggest that ULK1 and ULK2 may mediate part of tumor suppression activity in mammalian cells and contribute to the efficacy of genotoxic chemotherapeutic drugs.
Abstract
Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) uses a grid-controlled thermionic cathode gun as its electron source of the linear accelerator. The nanosecond grid-controlled power supply is an ...important part of the electron gun power supply system, and its performance will affect the quality of the beam. To achieve the requirements of the electron gun for nanosecond pulse power supply, we use the series-parallel multi-stage avalanche transistor scheme to achieve nanosecond fast pulse output. The test results show that the power supply not only can meet the requirements of HALF for its electron gun but also have good waveform repeatability and amplitude stability.
In an effort to establish a scientific foundation for the computational development of advanced Mg-based alloys, a systematic study of the generalized stacking fault (GSF) energy curves has been ...undertaken. Additionally, the associated stable and unstable stacking and twinning fault energies, ideal shear strengths, and comparative twinnability have been investigated in terms of first-principles calculations for dilute Mg-based alloys of type Mg95X. These GSF properties are predicted using the simple and especially the pure alias shear deformations on the basal (0001) plane and along the 101¯0 direction of the hexagonal close-packed (hcp) lattice. Fourteen alloying elements (X) are considered herein, namely Al, Ca, Cu, La, Li, Mn, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ti, Y, Zn and Zr. The following conclusions are obtained: (i) the fault energies and the ideal shear strengths of Mg95X alloys decrease approximately linearly with an increasing equilibrium volume of X (or Mg95X), with the exceptions being for alloying elements Al, Cu, Si and Zn; (ii) alloying elements Sr and La greatly increase the twin propensity of hcp Mg, while Mn, Ti and Zr exhibit opposite trends; and (iii) the observed variation in GSF properties for hcp Mg caused by alloying elements X can be directly traced to the distribution of the differential charge density (Δρ)—a spherical distribution of Δρ facilitates the redistribution of charge and shear deformation, resulting in lower shear-related properties, such as stacking fault energy and ideal shear strength. Computed GSF properties of Mg95X are shown to agree with available experimental and other theoretical results in the literature.

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at higher risk of thrombotic complications. Studies have indicated that patients with T2DM have impaired ...clopidogrel‐induced antiplatelet effect. Ticagrelor and prasugrel are two latest generation P2Y12 inhibitors with advantageous platelet inhibitory profiles. However, the pharmacodynamic differences between the two drugs in patients with T2DM remain poorly explored.
Methods
This study, involving 140 patients with T2DM following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), evaluated the efficacy of aspirin upon concomitant use of prasugrel (10 mg/d) or ticagrelor (90 mg/d). Platelet reactivity was assessed by value of ADP‐induced light transmittance aggregometry (LTA) and vasodilator‐stimulated phosphoprotein phosphorylation‐platelet reactivity index (VASP‐PRI) at baseline, 7 and 30 days after randomized P2Y12 inhibitor treatment.
Results
The study showed a decreased platelet reactivity after use of P2Y12 inhibitors (both P < .001). On the basis of comparison between regimens, apart from the prasugrel group having a significantly higher LTA value at the 30‐day time point (P = .043), there existed no significant differences in platelet reactivity at separate time points (all P > .05). As for intragroup measurements, when compared with 7‐day and 30‐day time points, similar platelet reactivity was documented in the ticagrelor group (both P > .05), but LTA tests showed a significant increase with time (days 7‐30) in the prasugrel group (P = .050).
What is new and conclusion
Although ticagrelor and prasugrel have similar platelet inhibitory effects in patients with T2DM, if a P2Y12 inhibitor is necessitated in patients with T2DM, ticagrelor might exert a more stable antiplatelet effect with 30‐day short‐term treatment.

The influence of different alloying elements on the lattice parameters and elastic properties of Mg solid solution has been studied using first-principles calculations within the generalized gradient ...approximation. The solute atoms employed herein are Al,
Ba,
Ca,
Cu,
Ge,
K,
Li,
Ni,
Pb,
Si,
Y and Zn. A supercell consisting of 35 atoms of Mg and one solute atom is used in the current calculations. A good agreement between calculated and available experimental data is obtained. Lattice parameters of Mg–X alloys are found to be dependent on the atomic radii of the solute atoms. A correlation between the bulk modulus of Mg–X alloys and the nearest-neighbor distance between Mg and X is shown. Addition of solute atoms belonging to the
s-block and
p-block of the periodic table results in a lower bulk moduli than d-block elements. A strong dependence of the elastic modulus of Mg–X alloys on the elastic properties of the solute atoms is also observed. Using the bulk modulus/shear modulus ratio (
B/
G), the change in the ductility of Mg due to the addition of the solute atom is briefly described. Linear regression coefficients for the elastic constants of each of the alloys are obtained as a tool for predicting the trend in the elastic properties of Mg as a function of concentration of the solute atoms.
