Joining these two concepts of political science and philosophy (i.e. individual political identity and participatory political culture) is an attempt to explore their comprehensive potential, ...regarding the foundation of any democratic regime, namely the rule of law, civil society, a civilized global political world in which each individual can find his dignity, without being considered simply an anonymous in the great mass of people controlled and dominated through propaganda and restrictions by a relatively small number of people. The paper is structured on the main stated aspects: citizenship and political identity; identity, human dignity and the rule of law (as “medium term”); participative political culture. Participatory political culture is defining for the identity of a citizen in a state of law, but when the myths of democracy come into conflict with the political reality, indifference or absenteeism are also part of the cultural practices of citizenship and this is a challenge to political philosophy.
Dedicated especially to the idea of government by a moral elite, Chinese political culture is rooted in tradition, marked by the idea of harmony and realistic moralism, before it was marked in the ...twentieth century by propaganda, control, civic obedience, the cult of personality, concern for material welfare - to reach attempts to recover spiritual concerns in the beginning of the twenty-first century.
Faith as the main ”object” of religion and religion as a system of ”objects” of faith are interconditioned to the extent that these helps us to believe in the ”virtual” reality of another world, more ...and more foreign for us. But from a political perspective, religion no longer sends today to the sacred idea, but, in the best case, to a kind of respect for the historical “tradition”.The purpose of this study is to show that beyond cultural values indicating the permanence of an European spirit, the European Romania’s identity involves also questions about the meaning of faith and religion, about local forms of manifestation of the religious spirit which after 1989 became increasingly prominent. Whether works from the past or personalities who suffered in prisons for their faith are updated, whether new forms of manifestation of religious spirit or godliness appear, these are possible thanks to the freedom of expression which represents one of the most important democratic acquisitions after 1989. At the same time, this phenomenon involves questions about the creative potential of religion in the order of identity, but also about identification or distinction between faith and religion, taking into account the basic definitions according to which faith is the personal conviction in regard to the sacred thing, while the religion represents a system of religious beliefs.
In this paper I will refer to two composite and complex notions, narrative identity and political identity, which represent not only fundamental theoretical notions, but also components of an action ...that, integrated in the culture of dialogue, could lead to peace and balance in today’s world. The political identity – narrative identity distinction can be found both at the level of the individual (schematizing, the citizen has a political identity, the person has a narrative identity) and at that of society, if we accept on the one hand, that the basic meaning of the notion of political identity refers primarily to the citizens of a state (because starting with modernity, the free individual has power and political identity) or to certain groups organized on political criteria, and on the other hand that this notion also has the collective meaning of national-state identity, respectively cultural, which interacts both in content and form with that of civic identities. And because between the two composite notions, beyond the differences, there is above all cohesion, i.e. narrative identity contributes to the configuration and definition of political identity, just as political identity can represent a chapter or an important moment in a story, from a history, I will focus on the contribution of the narrative identity to the definition of the political identity, having as a theoretical reference the contribution of Paul Ricœur in this matter, because Ricœur’s political philosophy shows us how to read and interpret what happens to man not only as an amount of ever-changing data, more or less accurate, as a more or less significant statistic, but also as a meaningful story.
INDIVIDUAL, SUBJECTIVITY AND SELF-CREATION IN JEAN-PAUL SARTRE represents the attempt to reconstruct Jean-Paul Sartre’s conception about the individual as a ”rarity”, as an actor of a singular and ...unrepeatable life, as an ”expression of his own project”. In this respect, in the first part of the text, based on biographical references from the works that made the French existentialist philosopher famous, I refer to “The point of view on the historical concreteness. Several aspects”, and the second part of the text is centered on ”La Nausée, between a theory of emotions and ’a humanism’”.

As the coordinator of the Department of Political and Social Philosophy at the Institute of Social Theory of the Romanian Academy (now ISPRI), Carmen Diaconescu initiated and rigorously executed ...research programs. She supported her colleagues' projects, encouraged them to pursue PhDs, write and publish their books, and facilitated open dialogue on philosophical and cultural issues. Additionally, she provided books to her colleagues. She initiated the Encyclopedia of Fundamental Works of Political Philosophy project, which was published in several volumes by ISPRI.
Thanks to memory, the imagination can bring faces, events, facts from the past back into the present and, in this sense, memory as a "province of the imagination" beyond its temporalizing function ...could play a heuristic role, namely to discover the use of memory not only by ideology as an expression of the social imaginary, intended to legitimize power, but also to recognize and build an authentic identity, to understand human being..
Thirty years after the revolution of 1989, while the rule of law and political pluralism marked democracy identity of Romanians, cultural practices of the free citizens shows that how we think about ...citizenship defines us as civilized beings as well as the democratic performance of a social-political space. At the same time, the theoretical references of this subject are as current as possible.
