Drawing on affective events theory and the unfolding model of voluntary turnover, the dynamic nature of emotional dissonance, job autonomy, subjective well-being (SWB), and turnover intention are ...examined in a daily diary study. The study's design employs an experience sampling method. Participants are full-time employees in guest-facing positions in full-service or luxury hotels in the United States. Sixty-five participants completed a one-time baseline survey and a daily diary study twice per day for at least five working days, resulting in a total of 416 day-level observations. Within-person variance in turnover intention is predicted by day-level within-person SWB and emotional dissonance. This study shows that SWB and turnover intention are not stable phenomena among frontline hotel employees. Moreover, the study emphasizes the important moderating role of daily job autonomy and the moderating effects of person-level trait resilience. The theoretical and practical implications of these results are also discussed.

All‐inorganic CsPbX3 (X=I, Br, Cl) perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have been investigated because of their optical properties, such as tunable wavelength, narrow band, and high quantum efficiency. ...These features have been used in light emitting diode (LED) devices. LED on‐chip fabrication uses mixed green and red quantum dots with silicone gel. However, the ion‐exchange effect widens the narrow emission spectrum. Quantum dots cannot be mixed because of anion exchange. We address this issue with a mesoporous PQD nanocomposite that can prevent ion exchange and increase stability. We mixed green quantum‐dot‐containing mesoporous silica nanocomposites with red PQDs, which can prevent the anion‐exchange effect and increase thermal and photo stability. We applied the new PQD‐based LEDs for backlight displays. We also used PQDs in an on‐chip LED device. Our white LED device for backlight display passed through a color filter with an NTSC value of 113 % and Rec. 2020 of 85 %.
Points of light: Green CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs), embedded in mesoporous silica (MP), were mixed with red CsPb(Br0.4I0.6)3 quantum dots in a silicone resin and placed on an InGaN blue chip. The green and red QDs were excited by blue light with λ=450 nm. The resulting PQD white light emitting diode (LED) exhibits a wide color gamut because of its narrow emission wavelength.

Purpose
This paper aims to examine whether employee subjective well-being acts as a mediator in the relationship between perceived supervisor support and turnover intention within the context of ...select-service hotels.
Design/methodology/approach
The sample included hourly employees in select-service hotels in the Midwest USA. The significance of the relationships was assessed using regression, and both the Sobel test and bootstrapping methods were performed to test the mediating effect of subjective well-being on the relationship between perceived supervisor support and turnover intention.
Findings
The results confirm subjective well-being acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between supervisor support and turnover intention. Employees who perceive higher levels of support from their supervisors are less likely to leave their organizations. At the same time, supervisor support also positively affects subjective well-being, which reduces turnover intention.
Practical implications
Actions by supervisors’ impact the well-being of their employees, which in turn may influence whether an employee stays with the organization. Organizations could use management training and employee feedback on supervisor support to improve employee support mechanisms. Organizations should also pay attention to improving employee subjective well-being beyond the work place. Improving the well-being of employees and supporting employees can help reduce turnover and may increase employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction and profits.
Originality/value
This study is the first to show that subjective well-being mediates the relationship between supervisor support and turnover intention; and one of the few within the hospitality context to examine the constructs of subjective well-being, supervisor support and turnover together.
•Hotel attributes performance, prior eWOM experience, and platform convenience are the drivers of eWOM behaviors.•Demographics, lodging preference, and economic incentives have no effects on eWOM ...behaviors.•Core attribute performance and facilitating attribute performance do not have a uniformed influence on eWOM behaviors.•Facilitating attributes can only improve eWOM behaviors when core attribute performance is positive.
We treated electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) behavior as a multidimensional construct and investigated the salient predictors for each individual eWOM behavior in this study, with an emphasis on hotel attribute performance. The results show that hotel attribute performance, previous eWOM experience, and platform convenience are the drivers of eWOM behaviors in general. Demographics and lodging preference do not affect eWOM behaviors. Economic incentives also have no effect on eWOM behaviors, which suggests that good reviews cannot be bought. The performance of core attributes can improve eWOM activities and eWOM praise, but the performance of facilitating attributes helps only with eWOM praise.
This study analyzes the relationships between the performance of four tourism related industries (airlines, casinos, hotels, and restaurants) and GDP in the U.S., using cointegration and Granger ...causality tests. The results show no cointegration between economic growth and industry performance in the U.S. This suggests that mechanisms to increase the revenue of tourism related industries can potentially be successful in the long-run, even in the face of sustained economic stagnation. The results also indicate a temporal causal hierarchy among industry performance, which could be a good tool for timing and prioritizing the allocation of resources among industries to ensure better overall tourism and economic outcomes. Investors and managers could also use this temporal hierarchy to identify the best timing for investments and business strategies by observing performance trends of industries higher on the temporal hierarchy.
The objectives of this study are to match the motivations for posting about hotel experiences with the online media chosen and to identify the electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) motivations that are ...affected by hotel attribute performance. The results show that altruism and platform assistance motivations were positively correlated with consumer opinion sites. Extraversion, social benefits, and dissonance reduction were positively correlated with social network sites. Economic incentives did not improve the likelihood of posting eWOM on consumer opinion sites but reduced the likelihood of posting on social network sites. Finally, hotel attribute performance had a significant effect only on extraversion and dissonance reduction motivations.
Dual-branded hotels have received great attention in the industry recently. Our study uniquely examines the dual branding effects in two dimensions of synergy (operation and marketplace) and the role ...of dual branding composition in creating synergy. Based on the property-level data, this study conducts a systematic analysis to verify these benefits using a fixed-effects model and a matched-sample analysis. There are three key findings. First, the benefit of dual branding mainly comes from operating synergy. Dual branding could lower revenue volatility for all dual-branded hotels and reduce operating costs for those paired with the same-class hotels. Second, dual branding on marketplace performance varies by property characteristics. Third, the anchoring effect is asymmetric. In a different-class dual-branded hotel pair, the higher-class hotel’s occupancy is anchored down but the lower-class hotel’s occupancy is not anchored up.
•The present study extends the synergy literature by investigating hotels’ dual branding synergy in two dimensions: operating synergy and marketplace synergy.•The benefit of dual branding mainly comes from operating synergy, especially in same-class pairs.•The dual branding’s anchoring effect in marketplace performance is asymmetric. The higher-class hotel’s occupancy is anchored down but the lower-class hotel’s occupancy is not anchored up.•Dual branding could lower revenue volatility in both same-class dual-branded hotels and different-class dual-branded hotels.•The type of hotel that could benefit most from dual branding is chain-owned or managed, located in urban, with more than 500 rooms, and upscale or upper midscale.
Anaerobic fermentative biohydrogen production, the conversion of organic substances especially from organic wastes to hydrogen gas, has become a viable and promising means of producing sustainable ...energy. Successful biological hydrogen production depends on the overall performance (results of interactions) of bacterial communities, i.e., mixed cultures in reactors. Mixed cultures might provide useful combinations of metabolic pathways for the processing of complex waste material ingredients, thereby supporting the more efficient decomposition and hydrogenation of biomass than pure bacteria species would. Therefore, understanding the relationships between variations in microbial composition and hydrogen production efficiency is the first step in constructing more efficient hydrogen-producing consortia, especially when complex and non-sterilized organic wastes are used as feeding substrates. In this review, we describe recent discoveries on bacterial community composition obtained from dark fermentation biohydrogen production systems, with emphasis on the possible roles of microorganisms that co-exist with common hydrogen producers.
The literature investigating the role emotions play on patrons’ casino gambling behavior within the theory of planned behavior (TPB) framework have primarily focused on anticipated emotions. However, ...anticipated emotions are more unstable compared to experienced emotions with predicting responses to behaviors that have a high degree of uncertainty in the outcomes such as casino gambling. This study investigates the role of experienced emotions within the TPB framework for predicting casino visitation intentions and attitudes via Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM). The results show that positive experienced emotions along with subjective norms and attitudes significantly influenced the casino visitation intentions. Additionally, while positive emotions significantly influenced casino visitation attitudes, negative emotions did not. Alternatively, negative emotions were positively correlated with casino visitation intentions. Moreover, the analysis also revealed that respondents from diverse backgrounds varied greatly in their responses of how their experienced emotions and cognitive determinants influenced their casino visitation intentions. Casino marketers can utilize the results to fine-tune their marketing initiatives for eliciting increased visitation amongst their patron databases.
