This paper deals with the enantioseparation of phenylsuccinic acid(H2A)enantiomers by liquid-liquid reactive extraction usingβ-CD derivatives as aqueous selectors.Cyclodextrin and its derivatives can ...interact with guest molecules selectively to form complexes with different stabilities.Cyclodextrin derivatives are not soluble in organic liquids, but highly soluble in water. In this work,hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin(HP-β-CD),hydroxyethyl- β-cyclodextrin(HE-β-CD)and methyl-β-cyclodextrin(Me-β-CD)were selected as chiral selectors in aqueous phase for the reactive extraction of phenylsuccinic acid enantiomers from organic phase to aqueous phase. The results show that the efficiency of the extraction depends, often strongly,on a number of process variables, including the types of organic solvents andβ-CD derivatives, the concentrations of the extractants and H2A enantiomers,pH and temperature.HP-β-CD,HE-β-CD and Me-β-CD have stronger recognition abilities for R-phenylsuccinic acid than for S-phenylsuccinic acid.Among the three kinds ofβ-CD derivatives,HP-β-CD has the strongest separation ability. Excellent enantioseparation was achieved under the optimal conditions of pH of 2.5 and temperature of 5°C with a maximum enantioselectivity(a)of 2.38.Reactive extraction of enantiomers with hydrophilicβ-CD derivatives is of strong chiral separation ability and can be hopeful for separations of various enantiomers at a large-scale.
To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of the Flow-through chimeric anterolateral thigh perforator (ALTP) flap for one-stage repair and revascularization in complex defects of the extremities.
...Between May 2014 and June 2017, 6 patients with soft tissue defects on the limbs combined with dead space, bone defects, or tendon and joint exposure, were reconstructed with the Flow-through chimeric ALTP flap. All 6 patients were male. The patients' mean age was 44 years (range, 26-60 years). The mechanisms of injury were traffic accidents in 4 cases, wringer injury in 1 case, and bruise injury caused by heavy object in 1 case. The defects located at the lower extremity in 5 cases and at the upper extremity in 1 case. The area of the wound ranged from 7 cm×4 cm to 26 cm×10 cm. There were 3 cases of bone defect, 3 cases of joint and tendon exposure, 2 cases of chronic osteomyelitis, and 2 cases of main artery injury. The muscle flap was inserted into the deep dead space, with perforator flap for superficial defect
Because the association between soy consumption and gastric cancer is inconsistent, we evaluated the putative preventive effect of soy food on gastric cancer risk in the Shanghai Women's and Men's ...Health Studies, comprising a total of 128,687 participants. Intake of nonfermented soy foods was estimated using 2 validated food-frequency questionnaires. HRs were calculated with 95% CIs for intake amounts of total nonfermented soy food intake, soy protein, and isoflavones as well as individual soy food groups using Cox proportional hazards regression. A total of 493 distal gastric cancer cases were identified by 2010. Although all risk estimates for summary measures of soy food intake above the lowest quartile (quartile 1) were suggestive of a protective effect, no statistically significant associations with risk of distal gastric cancer were found. Among the separate soy food groups, significant reductions in risk of distal gastric cancer by increasing intake of tofu were found in men in quartile 2 (HR: 0.59; 95% CI: 0.40, 0.86), quartile 3 (HR: 0.62; 95% CI: 0.44, 0.88), and quartile 4 (HR: 0.64; 95% CI: 0.42, 0.99), resulting in a significant trend (P-trend = 0.02). Dry bean intake was also inversely associated with decreased risk of gastric cancer, but in postmenopausal women only quartile 2 (HR: 0.54; 95% CI: 0.30, 0.96); quartile 3 (HR: 0.90; 95% CI: 0.64, 1.27); and quartile 4 (HR: 0.63; 95% CI: 0.43, 0.91), resulting in a significant trend (P-trend = 0.03). Overall, our study found no statistically significant association between nonfermented soy food intake and distal gastric cancer risk, though the data supported the hypothesis that tofu may protect against distal gastric cancer in men and dry bean consumption may decrease the risk of gastric cancer in postmenopausal women. Because the association between soy consumption and gastric cancer is inconsistent, we evaluated the putative preventive effect of soy food on gastric cancer risk in the Shanghai Women’s and Men’s ...Health Studies, comprising a total of 128,687 participants. Among the separate soy food groups, significant reductions in risk of distal gastric cancer by increasing intake of tofu were found in men in quartile 2 (HR: 0.59; 95% CI: 0.40, 0.86), quartile 3 (HR: 0.62; 95% CI: 0.44, 0.88), and quartile 4 (HR: 0.64; 95% CI: 0.42, 0.99), resulting in a significant trend (

This paper attempted to prepare hybrid particles in which the inorganic and organic components were chemically bonded in simplification. The polymethacryloxypropylsilsesquioxanes-polyacrylate ...(PMPS-PA) latex particles were prepared through seeded emulsion polymerization using polymethacryloxypropylsilsesquioxanes (PMPS) as seed. As a reference, silica-polyacrylate (S-PA) latex particles were obtained with similar method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy were used to characterize the chemical composition and morphology of the resultant hybrid particles. The results showed that PMPS-PA particles were uniformly spherical with core-shell morphology and possessed narrow size distribution, whereas S-PA hybrid particles were not uniform as PMPS-PA particles and had bimodal size distribution. The surface properties, optical properties and thermal stability of the corresponding films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Comparatively, PMPS-PA film exhibited smoother surface, larger optical transmittance and better thermal stability than S-PA film. These could be attributed to PMPS that were chemically bonded with PA phases, whereas weak interactions between silica and PA phases in S-PA, where silica surface modification was usually required to increase the surface interactions. Thus, PMPS particles containing reactive carbon-carbon double bond could be prospective and be directly used as seeds in the following emulsion polymerization to prepare chemically bonded hybrid particles.
To observe the expression of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) and FGFR4 in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and its relationship with atrial fibrosis.
Fifty-one patients with rheumatic heart ...disease undergoing cardiac surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from October 2016 to April 2017 were divided into two groups according to whether they were complicated with atrial fibrillation: 39 patients with persistent AF(AF group), and 12 patients with sinus rhythm (SR group). The right atrial appendage was cut out during cardiac surgery. The expression of FGF23 and FGFR4 mRNA was detected by quantitative real-time PCR. The expression of FGFR4 protein was detected by Western blot. Atrial structure was evaluated by echocardiography. Masson staining was used to evaluate the degree of atrial fibrosis. The expression of FGF23 and FGFR4 was compared between the two groups.Additionally, the relationship between FGF23 and FGFR4 expression and atrial fibrosis was evaluated.

β‐Cyclodextrin (β‐CD) is negligibly soluble in organic liquids and can be modified to achieve a higher solubility in water. In this paper, racemic α‐cyclohexyl‐mandelic acid (α‐CHMA) was separated by ...chiral reactive extraction with aqueous β‐cyclodextrin derivatives. Hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HP‐β‐CD), hydroxyethyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HE‐β‐CD), and methyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (Me‐β‐CD) were selected as chiral selectors for reactive extraction of α‐CHMA enantiomers from organic phase to aqueous phase. Factors affecting the extraction efficiency were investigated, including the types of organic solvents and β‐CD derivatives, the concentrations of the chiral selector and α‐CHMA enantiomers, pH and temperature. The experimental results demonstrate that HP‐β‐CD, HE‐β‐CD, and Me‐β‐CD have stronger recognition abilities for S‐α‐CHMA than for R‐α‐CHMA. Among the three derivatives, HP‐β‐CD shows the strongest separation factor for α‐CHMA enantiomers. A high enantioseparation efficiency with a maximum separation factor (α) of 2.02 is observed at pH 2.5 and 5°C.
α‐Cyclohexyl‐mandelic acid enantiomers were extracted from organic phase to aqueous phase with hydrophilic hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclo‐dextrin as chiral selector, which has stronger recognition ability for S‐enantiomer than for R‐enantiomer.
