Utilization and transfer of nitrogen (N)in a strip intercropping system of garlic (Allium safivum L.) and broad bean (Vicia faba L.) have been investigated rarely. The objectives of this study were ...to quantify N uptake and utilization by intercropped broad bean and garlic and determine the magnitude of N transfer from broad bean to garlic. Field and pot trials were carried out in the Erhai Lake Basin in China using ^15N tracer applied to the soil or injected into broad bean plants. Strip intercropping of garlic and broad bean increased N absorption (47.2%) compared with sole crop broad bean (31.9%) or sole crop garlic (40.7%) and reduced soil residual N. Nearly 15% of 15N injected into petioles of broad bean intercropped with garlic was recovered in garlic at harvest, suggesting that N could be transferred from broad bean to strip intercropped garlic. The findings provide a basis for evaluating legumes' role in optimizing N fertilization when intercropped with non-legumes.

A new tintinnid ciliate, Tintinnopis estuariensis Zhang, Feng & Yu, sp. nov. was found in the estuary of Yangtze River, China. It was most abundant in September. Its arenaceous lorica is ...cylindro-conical in shape, (120-180)μm x (50-75)pm in size, agglutinated with mineral particles, and open at both ends. Two characters distinguish it from others: the unique lateral flattened posterior portion with a vertical aboral opening and wider oral diameter. It occurred in water with surface temperature of 14-27℃ and surface salinity of 3.9‰-29.8‰.
A series of novel bridged-neonicotinoid analogues were designed and synthesized, which were constructed by starting material 8 with cyclopentenone or cyclohexenone in the presence of catalyst ...aluminium chloride. All of the compounds were characterized and confirmed by~1H NMR,~(13)C NMR, HRMS and IR. The bioassay tests showed that compounds 5 and 6a showed higher bioactivities than imidacloprid against Aphis craccivora.

Marine planktonic ciliates are a link between microbial food web and classical food chain. They play a role in material cycling and energy flow in marine ecosystem. Since the 1970s, growth rates of ...marine planktonic have been studied in both laboratory and in situ. Only few laboratory studies on ciliate growth rates are available in China, and no field research has been carried out to determine the growth rates of planktonic ciliates. This review summarizes previous studies on the growth rates in both laboratory and in situ. Laboratory experiments show that the growth rates varies with food type and temperature. Under a certain temperature, ciliate would stop growing or die when food availability is below its threshold value. The growth rates could increase as food concentration increase over the threshold value, and then reach intrinsic growth rate (mu sub(max)), stay or drop slightly at a high food concentrations. Scientists estimated the mu sub(max) values of 34 oligotrichous ciliate species in laboratory; and the values ranged 0.1-3.05 d super(-1). Feeding on a given prey, ciliate would stop growing or die at low temperature. mu sub(max) increased linearly with temperature in the intermediate range. Higher pH will restrain mu sub(max). Size-fractionated seawater incubation was used to estimate in situ ciliate growth rate, from which the maximum growth rate was 3.3 d super(-1). Temperature, hypoxia, and prey (bottom up control) influenced the ciliate growth rate in different regions. Planktonic ciliate production, calculated according to ciliate abundance and growth rate, was higher than planktonic copepod production in most cases.
The goals of carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, and climate change mitigation have introduced new requirements for the development of our country's energy system. Transformation of the energy and ...power system is necessary, and disruptive technologies can play a significant role in facilitating a safe and low-carbon transition. This paper begins by analyzing the impact of the dual-carbon target on the development of disruptive technologies, drawing on the theory of techno-social system transformation. Subsequently, it examines the development process, characteristics, and future trends of pumped storage as a case study. Lastly, utilizing a multi-level analysis framework, it constructs a transformational development pathway for China's new power system. The analysis findings reveal that effective utilization of disruptive technologies is essential for the establishment of a new power system, while also emphasizing the need for improved coordination among the landscape, regime, and niche levels. At the landscape level, it is crucial to establish a national carbon emission budget system, set emissions budgets and decarbonization plans for the power sector, and develop industry-wide zero-carbon timelines. At the regime level, emphasis should be placed on building a new power market management mechanism and operational model that can adapt to high levels of renewable energy integration. Furthermore, at the niche level, accelerating research and development of new energy storage technologies and promoting the deep integration of energy and information technology are of utmost importance.

The vibration isolators have witnessed significant developments due to pressing demands for high resolution metrology and manufacturing, optical, physical and chemical experiments. In the view of ...these requirements, the engineers and physicists have exploited different types of vibration isolators. This paper firstly presents the recent developments on the passive vibration isolators. It finds that the passive vibration isolators can constrain the high frequency oscillation. The active control is the efficient method to cancel the low frequency vibration. Then, the paper is concerned with the recent advances on the active vibration isolator. The appropriate actuator, sensor and advanced control method are the key component of the active vibration isolator to enhance their vibration isolation properties. Finally, the author proposes that the magnetic suspension vibration isolator is a future research direction in the field of the vibration isolation.
In order to alleviate the damage of wheat under Cadmium Stress Condition, Using simulating actual pollution, the effects of spraying different concentration of 6-BA on protective enzymes system under ...Cd 2+ pollution were studied. The result showed that different concentration of 6-BA have the relieving effects on heavy metal injury. SOD, POD and CAT activities can be improved in different degree, and the increase of MDA content and electrolyte leakage become much slower. Various concentration 6-BA by spraying have different effects on wheat under Cd 2+ pollution: 2×10 -5 mol/L is the best dose of 6-BA for the changes of SOD, MDA and electrolyte leakage, on the other hand, CAT and POD are significantly affected under 3×10 -5 mol/L 6-BA. This proved that 6-BA can alleviate the injury of wheat caused by cadmium stress and improve the resistance of wheat seedling.
AIM:To investigate the inhibitory role of toxicarioside A on the gastric cancer cell line human gastric cancer cell line(SGC-7901) and determine the underlying molecular mechanism.METHODS:After ...SGC-7901 cells were treated with toxicarioside A at various concentrations(0.5,1.5,4.5,9.0 μg/mL) for 24 h or 48 h,cell viability was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl2H-tetrazolium bromide assay, and the motility and invasion of tumor cells were assessed by the Transwell chamber assay.Immunofluorescence staining, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were performed to detect the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) and fibroblast growth factor receptor-1(FGFR1),and nuclear factorkappa B(NF-κB) activation was examined by electrophoretic mobility shift assay.RESULTS:The results showed that toxicarioside A was capable of reducing cell viability, inhibiting cell growth, and suppressing cell migration and invasion activities in a time-and dose-dependent manner in SGC-7901 cells.Further analysis revealed that not only the expression of bFGF and its high-affinity receptor FGFR1 but also the NF-κB-DNA binding activity were effectively blocked by toxicarioside A in a dose-dependent manner compared with the control group(P 0.05 or P 0.01).Interestingly,application of the NF-κB specific inhibitor, pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate(PDTC),to SGC-7901 cells significantly potentized the toxicarioside A-induced down-regulation of bFGF compared with the control group(P 0.05).CONCLUSION:These findings suggest that toxicarioside A has an anti-gastric cancer activity and this effect may be achieved partly through down-regulation of NF-κB and bFGF/FGFR1 signaling.
