Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the most common cancer among head and neck cancers in Vietnam. We aimed to identify the rate of a 30 bp deletion mutation of the LMP1-EBV gene in nasopharyngeal ...biopsy tissue samples, the HLA genotypes of NPC patients, and the relationship between these two targets. Patients with NPC at Can Tho Oncology Hospital from September 2014 to December 2018 were selected. A length of 30 bp of the del-LMP1-EBV gene was analyzed using a PCR technique, and the HLA genotypes in patients' blood samples were analyzed with PCR-SSO technology. HLA-B*15 gene carriers had the highest risk of 30 bp LMP1-EBV gene deletion mutation, which was found in 51 out of 70 patients (72.9%). Carriers of the HLA-B*15 allele had a 4.6-fold increased risk of a 30 bp del-LMP1-EBV gene compared with non-carriers of this allele. The initial identification of NPC was related to the 30 bp del-LMP1-EBV gene and high frequencies of the -A*02, -B*15, -DRB1*12, -DQB1*03, and -DQA1*01 HLA alleles. Our study results suggest an association of the 30 bp del-LMP1-EBV gene and the HLA-B*15 allele with NPC susceptibility.
Background
Drug resistance has become a major concern for antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), leading to an increased risk of treatment failure. We aimed to identify the ...prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA polymerase mutations and to determine the frequency of HBV genotypes and subgenotypes in treatment-naive patients with CHB in Mekong Delta, Vietnam.
Methods
Of the 550 drug-naive CHB patients from Mekong Delta, their serum samples were analyzed for HBV DNA mutations, genotypes, and subgenotypes using polymerase chain reaction sequencing.
Results
Of the 550 patients who were infected with either HBV genotype B (72.9%) or genotype C (27.1%), the frequencies of subgenotypes were 19% B1, 3.6% B2, 10.3% B3, 39.8% B4, 0.4% C1, and 26.9% C2. The only mutation that was detected in 54 patients (10.7%) was rtV207M. The rtV207M mutation was found among 13.9% (51/368) of genotype B and among 2.2% (3/137) of genotype C (

< 0.0001).
Discussion
Genotype B and subgenotype B4 are predominant in Mekong Delta. Only 1 mutation rtV207M is discovered in our study. These findings suggest that it is unnecessary to test for HBV resistance mutation before delivering antiviral therapy.
Sự xuất hiện của bệnh lao đa kháng thuốc (MDR-TB) đã gây khó khăn trong kiểm soát bệnh lao, và việc chẩn đoán kịp thời MDR-TB là một thách thức đáng chú ý. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu là xác định đặc điểm ...phân tử của đột biến gen rpoB, katG, inhA liên quan đến khả năng kháng Rifampicin (RIF) và Isoniazid (INH) ở vi khuẩn lao kháng thuốc được phân lập ở tỉnh Đồng Tháp. Tổng cộng có 29 mẫu vi khuẩn lao kháng thuốc (n=29) đã được ly trích DNA bộ gen bằng kỹ thuật NGS từ đó xác định các đột biến trên gen rpoB, katG và inhA. Kết quả cho thấy đột biến Ser450Leu là phổ biến nhất (58,6%) trên gen rpoB. Ngoài ra, một đột biến mới, Ser254Pro, đã được xác định ở 3,4% số mẫu. Nghiên cứu cũng ghi nhận 7 đột biến khác trên gen rpoB: Gln432Lys, Asp435Tyr, Asp435Val, His445Tyr, His445Leu, Ser450Cys và Leu452Pro. Trên gen katG, hai đột biến đã được ghi nhận: Ser315Thr, với tỷ lệ phổ biến là 82,8% và Arg463Leu, được quan sát thấy ở 96,6% các chủng phân lập. Ngoài ra, gen inhA biểu hiện một đột biến đơn lẻ, Ile194Thr (chiếm 3,4%), có liên quan đến khả năng kháng Isoniazid (INH).
Các nghiên cứu đã chứng minh gen Latent Membrance Protein 1 (LMP1) của virus Epstein-Barr (EBV) (LMP1 EBV) và sự đột biến gen LMP1 EBV liên quan có ý nghĩa đến sự phát triển khối u ác tính tại biểu ...mô vòm mũi họng ở các BN có nhiễm EBV. Mục tiêu nghiên cứu là xác định tần suất và đột biến mất đoạn 30 bp trên gen LMP1 EBV ở mẫu mô sinh thiết vòm của BN UTVMH. Thiết kế nghiên cứu mô tả cắt ngang được thực hiện trên 65 mẫu mô sinh thiết vòm của BN được chẩn đoán xác định là UTVMH tại Bệnh viện ung bướu Cần Thơ. Kỹ thuật Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) - phản ứng chuỗi polymerase với cặp mồi LMP1 (168373-168174) được sử dụng để phát hiện gen LMP1 EBV và kỹ thuật giải trình tự gen LMP1 để xác định kiểu đột biến gen LMP1. Kết quả cho thấy 61,5% (40/65) có gen LMP1 EBV ở mô sinh thiết vòm và 57,5% (23/40) có kiểu đột biến mất đoạn 30 bp trên gen LMP1. Kết luận, tần suất gen LMP1 EBV trong mẫu mô sinh thiết vòm của BN UTVMH tại Cần Thơ là 61,5% và mất đoạn 30 bp là kiểu đột biến phổ biến trên gen LMP1.
