Background
The prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR) has increased worldwide in recent decades. This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of self‐reported AR and profiles of AR‐related ...comorbidities in the adult population of China over time.
Methods
This study surveyed residents of 18 major cities in mainland China. Telephone interviews were conducted with study participants after sampling target telephone numbers by random digit dialing. The questions asked during telephone interviews were based on those included in validated questionnaires and focused on topics regarding AR, nonallergic rhinitis (NAR), acute/chronic rhinosinusitis (ARS/CRS), asthma, and atopic dermatitis (AD).
Results
During 2011, a total of 47 216 telephone interviews were conducted, and the overall response rate was 77.5%. When compared with the AR prevalence in 11 cities surveyed in 2005, there was a significant increase in self‐reported adult AR in eight of those cities (P < 0.01). In 2011, the standardized prevalence of self‐reported adult AR in the 18 cities was 17.6%. The concentration of SO2 was positively correlated with the prevalence of AR (r = 0.504, P = 0.033). A multiple regression model showed that the absolute change in household yearly income was significantly associated with the change in the prevalence of AR (R2 = 0.68), after adjusting for PM10, SO2, NO2, temperature, and humidity. The overall prevalences of NAR, ARS, CRS, asthma, and AD in the general population were 16.4%, 5.4%, 2.1%, 5.8%, and 14%, respectively.
Conclusion
During a 6‐year period, there was a significant increase in the prevalence of self‐reported AR in the general Chinese adult population. The incidence of AR being accompanied by rhinosinusitis, asthma, or AD was significantly higher among individuals having self‐reported AR compared with the general population.

Then a version of twisted Poincaré duality is proved between the Poisson homologies and cohomologies. Furthermore, a notion of pseudo-unimodular Poisson structure is defined. It is proved that the Poisson cohomology as a Gerstenhaber algebra admits a Batalin-Vilkovisky operator inherited from some one of its Poisson cochain complex if and only if the Poisson structure is pseudo-unimodular. This generalizes the geometric version due to P. Xu. The modular derivation and Batalin-Vilkovisky operator are also described by using the dual basis of the Kähler differential module.

ABSTRACT We present X-ray source catalogs for the 7 Ms exposure of the Chandra Deep Field-South (CDF-S), which covers a total area of 484.2 arcmin2. Utilizing wavdetect for initial source detection ...and ACIS Extract for photometric extraction and significance assessment, we create a main source catalog containing 1008 sources that are detected in up to three X-ray bands: 0.5-7.0 keV, 0.5-2.0 keV, and 2-7 keV. A supplementary source catalog is also provided, including 47 lower-significance sources that have bright ( ) near-infrared counterparts. We identify multiwavelength counterparts for 992 (98.4%) of the main-catalog sources, and we collect redshifts for 986 of these sources, including 653 spectroscopic redshifts and 333 photometric redshifts. Based on the X-ray and multiwavelength properties, we identify 711 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) from the main-catalog sources. Compared to the previous 4 Ms CDF-S catalogs, 291 of the main-catalog sources are new detections. We have achieved unprecedented X-ray sensitivity with average flux limits over the central 1 arcmin2 region of 1.9 × 10−17, 6.4 × 10−18, and 2.7 × 10−17 erg cm−2 s−1 in the three X-ray bands, respectively. We provide cumulative number-count measurements observing, for the first time, that normal galaxies start to dominate the X-ray source population at the faintest 0.5-2.0 keV flux levels. The highest X-ray source density reaches 50,500 deg−2, and 47% 4% of these sources are AGNs ( 23,900 deg−2).
Ambient air pollution is a known public health hazard that negatively impacts non‐cutaneous organs; however, our knowledge regarding the effects on skin remains limited. Current scientific evidence ...suggests there are four mechanisms by which ambient air pollutants cause adverse effects on skin health: (i) generation of free radicals, (ii) induction of inflammatory cascade and subsequent impairment of skin barrier, (iii) activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and (iv) alterations to skin microflora. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview on ambient air pollutants and their relevant sources, and highlight current evidence of the effects on skin.
Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) activated by tumour cells are the predominant type of stromal cells in breast cancer tissue. The reciprocal effect of CAFs on breast cancer cells and the ...underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully characterised.
Stromal fibroblasts were isolated from invasive breast cancer tissues and the conditioned medium of cultured CAFs (CAF-CM) was collected to culture the breast cancer cell lines MCF-7, T47D and MDA-MB-231. Neutralising antibody and small-molecule inhibitor were used to block the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signalling derived from CAF-CM, which effect on breast cancer cells.
The stromal fibroblasts isolated from breast cancer tissues showed CAF characteristics with high expression levels of α-smooth muscle actin and SDF1/CXCL12. The CAF-CM transformed breast cancer cell lines into more aggressive phenotypes, including enhanced cell-extracellular matrix adhesion, migration and invasion, and promoted epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Cancer-associated fibroblasts secreted more TGF-β1 than TGF-β2 and TGF-β3, and activated the TGF-β/Smad signalling pathway in breast cancer cells. The EMT phenotype of breast cancer cells induced by CAF-CM was reversed by blocking TGF-β1 signalling.
Cancer-associated fibroblasts promoted aggressive phenotypes of breast cancer cells through EMT induced by paracrine TGF-β1. This might be a common mechanism for acquiring metastatic potential in breast cancer cells with different biological characteristics.
Ergosterol biosynthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is complex and the underlying mechanism of regulation remains unclear. To clarify the influence of transcriptional regulation on the ergosterol ...content, transcription factor Ecm22 was overexpressed in S. cerevisiae. Results showed that the overexpression of ECM22 led to an increased invasive growth. Fluconazole susceptibility testing indicated that strains overexpressing ECM22 could grow at 20 μg(fluconazole) ml−1. By contrast, the control failed to grow at 16 μg(fluconazole) ml−1. Among truncated ECM22 fragments, only the 1440‐bp DNA fragment exerted almost the same impact on ergosterol content as that of the full‐length gene. In a 5‐l bioreactor, the highest ergosterol yield of the recombinant reached 32∙7 mg g(dry cell weight)−1, which was increased by about 20% compared with that of the control. In this work, a novel approach for enhancing the ergosterol production by overexpressing a transcription factor in S. cerevisiae was developed.
Significance and Impact of the Study: Ergosterol is widely utilized as a raw material for the production of sterol drugs and vitamin D2. Yeast fermentation is an efficient approach to obtain ergosterol at present. In this work, transcription factor Ecm22 was proved to enhance the ergosterol biosynthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Also, the truncated transcription factors with various activities could be a valuable tool to regulate the intracellular ergosterol level.

Due to the poor self-regeneration of brain tissue, stem cell transplantation therapy is purported to enable the replacement of lost neurons after traumatic brain injury (TBI). The ...main challenge of brain regeneration is whether the transplanted cells can survive and carry out neuronal functions in the lesion area. The brain is a complex neuronal network consisting of various types of cells that significantly influence on each other, and the survival of the implanted stem cells in brain is critically influenced by the surrounding cells. Although stem cell-based therapy is developing rapidly, most previous studies just focus on apply single type of stem cells as cell source. Here, we found that co-culturing human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) directly with the activated astrocytes benefited to the proliferation and neuron differentiation of hUC-MSCs in vitro. In this study, hUC-MSCs and the activated astrocytes were seeded in RADA16-BDNF peptide scaffold (R-B-SPH scaffold), a specifical self-assembling peptide hydrogel, in which the environment promoted the differentiation of typical neuron-like cells with neurites extending in three-dimensional directions. Moreover, the results showed co-culture of hUC-MSCs and activated astrocytes promoted more BDNF secretion which may benefit to both neural differentiation of ectogenic hUC-MSCs and endogenic neurogenesis. In order to promote migration of the transplanted hUC-MSCs to the host brain, the hUC-MSCs were forced with CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4). We found that the moderate-sized lesion cavity, but not the large cavity caused by TBI was repaired via the transplantation of hUC-MSCsCXCR4 and activated astrocytes embedded in R-B-SPH scaffolds. The functional neural repair for TBI demonstrated in this study is mainly due to the transplantation system of double cells, hUC-MSCs and activated astrocytes. We believe that this novel cell transplantation system offers a promising treatment option for cell replacement therapy for TBI.
In this reach, we specifically linked RGIDKRHWNSQ, a functional peptide derived from BDNF, to the C-terminal of RADARADARADARADA (RADA16) to structure a functional self-assembling peptide hydrogel scaffold, RADA16-BDNF (R-B-SPH scaffold) for the better transplantation of the double cell unit. Also, the novel scaffold was used as cell-carrier for transplantation double cell unit (hUC-MSCs/astrocyte) for treating traumatic brain injury. The results of this study showing that R-B-SPH scaffold was pliancy and flexibility to fit the brain lesion cavity and promotes the outgrowth of axons and dendrites of the neurons derived from hUC-MSCs in vitro and in vivo, indicating the 3D R-B-SPH scaffold provided a suitable microenvironment for hUC-MSC survival, proliferation and differentiation. Also, our results showing the double-cells transplantation system (hUC-MSCs/astrocyte) may be a novel cell-based therapeutic strategy for neuroregeneration after TBI with potential value for clinical application.
ABSTRACT
We present timing solutions and analyses of 11 pulsars discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). These pulsars were discovered using an ultrawide ...bandwidth receiver in drift-scan observations made during the commissioning phase of FAST, and were then confirmed and timed using the 64-m Parkes Radio Telescope. Each pulsar has been observed over a span of at least one year. Highlighted discoveries include PSR J0344−0901, which displays mode-changing behaviour and may belong to the class of so-called swooshing pulsars (alongside PSRs B0919+06 and B1859+07); PSR J0803−0942, whose emission is almost completely linearly polarized; and PSRs J1900−0134 and J1945+1211, whose well-defined polarization angle curves place stringent constraints on their emission geometry. We further discuss the detectability of these pulsars by earlier surveys, and highlight lessons learned from our work in carrying out confirmation and monitoring observations of pulsars discovered by a highly sensitive telescope, many of which may be applicable to next-generation pulsar surveys. This paper marks one of the first major releases of FAST-discovered pulsars, and paves the way for future discoveries anticipated from the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey.

, led to the discovery of four recycled pulsars. Such success underscores the immense potential of future surveys at intermediate Galactic latitudes. In order to assess the potential yield of MSPs, we conducted population simulations and found that both FAST and Parkes new phased array feed surveys, focusing on intermediate Galactic latitudes, have the capacity to uncover several hundred new MSPs.
