Skyrmions, magnetic textures with topological stability, hold promises for high-density and energy-efficient information storage devices owing to their small size and low driving-current density. ...Precise creation of a single nanoscale skyrmion is a prerequisite to further understand the skyrmion physics and tailor skyrmion-based applications. Here, we demonstrate the creation of individual skyrmions at zero-field in an exchange-biased magnetic multilayer with exposure to soft X-rays. In particular, a single skyrmion with 100-nm size can be created at the desired position using a focused X-ray spot of sub-50-nm size. This single skyrmion creation is driven by the X-ray-induced modification of the antiferromagnetic order and the corresponding exchange bias. Furthermore, artificial skyrmion lattices with various arrangements can be patterned using X-ray. These results demonstrate the potential of accurate optical control of single skyrmion at sub-100 nm scale. We envision that X-ray could serve as a versatile tool for local manipulation of magnetic orders.
The primary goal of the present study was to develop the nano-drug consisting of doxorubicin and exosome derived from mesenchymal stem cells, and to explore its effect on osteosarcoma in vitro.
The ...exosomes were isolated from bone marrow MSCs (BM-MSCs) by an Exosome Isolation Kit. The exosome-loaded doxorubicin (Exo-Dox) was prepared by mixing exosome with Dox-HCl, desalinizing with triethylamine and then dialyzing against PBS overnight. The nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used to characterize of the exosome and Exo-Dox. The cytotoxicity of Exo-Dox was determined by CCK-8 assay. Further, the cellular uptake of different drugs was analyzed using inverted fluorescence microscope and flow cytometry.
The typical exosome structures can be observed by TEM. After loading with doxorubicin, its size is larger than free exosome. Compared with the free Dox, the prepared Exo-Dox showed enhanced cellular uptake efficiency and anti-tumor effect in osteosarcoma MG63 cell line but low cytotoxicity in myocardial H9C2 cell line.
The prepared Exo-Dox could be used as an excellent chemotherapeutic drug for treatment of osteosarcoma in vitro. Considering the tumor-homing feature of BM-MSCs, the Exo-Dox may be a good candidate for targeted osteosarcoma treatment in future study.
Manipulation of magnetization by electric‐current‐induced spin–orbit torque (SOT) is of great importance for spintronic applications because of its merits in energy‐efficient and high‐speed ...operation. An ideal material for SOT applications should possess high charge‐spin conversion efficiency and high electrical conductivity. Recently, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) emerge as intriguing platforms for SOT study because of their controllability in spin–orbit coupling, conductivity, and energy band topology. Although TMDs show great potentials in SOT applications, the present study is restricted to the mechanically exfoliated samples with small sizes and relatively low conductivities. Here, a manufacturable recipe is developed to fabricate large‐area thin films of PtTe2, a type‐II Dirac semimetal, to study their capability of generating SOT. Large SOT efficiency together with high conductivity results in a giant spin Hall conductivity of PtTe2 thin films, which is the largest value among the presently reported TMDs. It is further demonstrated that the SOT from PtTe2 layer can switch a perpendicularly magnetized CoTb layer efficiently. This work paves the way for employing PtTe2‐like TMDs for wafer‐scale spintronic device applications.
PtTe2, a layered type‐II Dirac semimetal, is successfully synthesized in a scalable and controllable manner. High spin–orbit torque and large spin Hall conductivity are found in these PtTe2 thin films, which manifest the potential of PtTe2 thin film for energy‐efficient magnetization switching. The experiments establish a primary basis for further research on similar systems for high‐performance spintronic devices.
Room temperature magnetic skyrmions in magnetic multilayers are considered as information carriers for future spintronic applications. Currently, a detailed understanding of the skyrmion ...stabilization mechanisms is still lacking in these systems. To gain more insight, it is first and foremost essential to determine the full real‐space spin configuration. Here, two advanced X‐ray techniques are applied, based on magnetic circular dichroism, to investigate the spin textures of skyrmions in Ta/CoFeB/MgOn multilayers. First, by using ptychography, a high‐resolution diffraction imaging technique, the 2D out‐of‐plane spin profile of skyrmions with a spatial resolution of 10 nm is determined. Second, by performing circular dichroism in resonant elastic X‐ray scattering, it is demonstrated that the chirality of the magnetic structure undergoes a depth‐dependent evolution. This suggests that the skyrmion structure is a complex 3D structure rather than an identical planar texture throughout the layer stack. The analyses of the spin textures confirm the theoretical predictions that the dipole–dipole interactions together with the external magnetic field play an important role in stabilizing sub‐100 nm diameter skyrmions and the hybrid structure of the skyrmion domain wall. This combined X‐ray‐based approach opens the door for in‐depth studies of magnetic skyrmion systems, which allows for precise engineering of optimized skyrmion heterostructures.

Abstract
Exploring and controlling topological textures such as merons and skyrmions has attracted enormous interests from the perspective of fundamental research and spintronic applications. It has ...been predicted theoretically and proved experimentally that the lattice form of topological meron-skyrmion transformation can be realized with the requirement of external magnetic fields in chiral ferromagnets. However, such topological transition behavior has yet to be verified in other materials. Here, we report real-space observation of magnetic topology transformation between meron pairs and skyrmions in the localized domain wall of ferrimagnetic GdFeCo films without the need of magnetic fields. The topological transformation in the domain wall of ferrimagnet is introduced by temperature-induced spin reorientation transition (SRT) and the underlying mechanism is revealed by micromagnetic simulations. The convenient electric-controlling topology transformation and driving motion along the confined domain wall is further anticipated, which will enable advanced application in magnetic devices.

The exploration of non-collinear spin texture in the f-electron-based rare-earth magnets has attracted fascinating interest for its fundamental physics and potential spintronic applications. Here, ...the real-space observation of nanometric helical spin order with the period down to 20 nm in centrosymmetric TbGa magnets was presented by Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. It was found that the helical period and the initial temperature for the appearance of the periodic helix can be tuned by the thickness of single-crystal TbGa plates (71–169 nm). Furthermore, the domain evolution under the perpendicular magnetic fields and with the shape constriction reveals the high stability of the stripe domains.
Despite the development of diagnostic and treatment strategies, the survival outcome of patients with osteosarcoma remains poor. Nod-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) plays a crucial role in the ...inflammasome pathway, which is related to the progression of various tumors. However, the effect of NLRP3 on osteosarcoma has not yet been well explored. Our study aimed to investigate the role of NLRP3 in the malignant biological behavior of osteosarcoma as well as its therapeutic value. Immunohistochemistry was applied to investigate the NLRP3 expression in osteosarcoma and osteochondroma specimens. Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation, wound healing, transwell, and flow cytometry assays were used to explore the contribution of NLRP3 to the proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis and cell cycle distribution of osteosarcoma cells

. Western blot was performed to evaluate the expression of NLRP3 and the related proteins in osteosarcoma cell lines after the blockade of NLRP3 using CY-09 and lentivirus intervention. Furthermore, tumor formation assay was used to analyze the effect of NLRP3 on the growth of osteosarcoma

. The results showed that the NLRP3 protein was overexpressed in osteosarcoma, which was independently correlated with the poor prognosis of patients. Moreover, NLRP3 suppression by the inhibitor of CY-09 or lentivirus-induced gene knockdown inhibited the cell proliferation, migration, invasion and promoted the cell apoptosis and G1 cell cycle arrest in osteosarcoma via targeting the inflammasome pathway. results confirmed that the inhibition of NLRP3 suppressed the tumor formation of osteosarcoma. In conclusion, NLRP3 may be regarded as an independent prognostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for osteosarcoma.
