Commercial polyolefin separators exhibit problems including shrinkage under high temperatures and poor electrolyte wettability and uptake, resulting in low ionic conductivity and safety problems. In ...this work, core–shell silica-polyphosphazene nanoparticles (SiO2@PZS) with different PZS layer thicknesses were synthesized and coated onto both sides of polyethylene (PE) microporous membranes to prepare composite membranes. Compared to pure silica-coated membranes and PE membranes, the PE-SiO2@PZS composite membrane had higher ionic conductivity. With the increase in the SiO2@PZS shell thickness, the electrolyte uptake, ionic conductivity and discharge capacity gradually increased. The discharge capacity of the PE-SiO2@PZS composite membrane at 8 C rate was 129 mAh/g, which was higher than the values of 107 mAh/g for the PE-SiO2 composite membrane and 104 mAh/g for the PE membrane.
The visual ability factors of peripheral perception, visual reaction and visual pursuit ability are important for safe driving. Thus, this study explored the influence of driving experience on these ...visual ability factors. Sixty-five drivers, including novice and experienced drivers, participated in this study. The visual ability levels of the three factors were measured by the Vienna Test System. In addition, driver's awareness of the three factors' importance for safe driving was measured by questionnaire items. Results showed that out of the three factors, drivers' peripheral perception ability was correlated significantly with their driving experience. Experienced drivers had higher peripheral perception ability than that of novice drivers. In addition, compared with novice drivers, experienced drivers believed that peripheral perception was more important whereas visual reaction was less important. It is suggested that higher attention should be paid to peripheral perception in driving training and novice drivers should increase their importance awareness for this factor.

Non-conventional fluorescent materials without aromatic structures have attracted much research attention in recent years. However, the working mechanism responsible for their fluorescence remains ...mysterious. Here we decipher the origin of fluorescence by studying the photophysical properties of a series of non-aromatic biogenic and synthetic peptides. An experimental study suggests that the turn-on fluorescence in the aggregation state/condensed phase is associated with the communication of amide groups, where hydrogen bonds are playing a critical role in bringing these functionalities into close proximity. This explanation is further justified by the study of the hierarchical influence on fluorescence and applied to biomimetic polymers in a more general content. This discovery provides a more comprehensive insight into the bioluminescence system. It may stimulate future development of new fluorescent materials, and inspire research on disease diagnostics, biomechanics measurements, etc . that are associated with protein morphology.
Development of fifth‐generation technology leads to a growing demand for materials with exceptional thermal property, mechanical strength, and low dielectric loss. However, ensuring the broad ...application of such materials by comprehensively investigating their aging mechanisms and service lifetimes remains a challenge. In this work, we have developed a glass fiber (GF) reinforced liquid crystal polymer composite (GF/LCP) and conducted a thorough exploration of its aging mechanism, behavior, and service lifetime under thermal and oxidative conditions. On the basis of the general Arrhenius model, the composite maintains a high level of functionality for a remarkable 18 years at 150 °C and 1.5 years at 200 °C. Despite the extremely high thermal resistance of GF/LCP composite, the LCP matrix exhibits localized brittle fracture, and the main chains still undergo gradual degradation to generate phenolic groups, which ultimately leads to severe pulverization and mass loss. However, a high degree of connection maintenance between GF and LCP components is still reserved. This work provides a valuable reference for the reliable application of 5G materials under thermal and oxidative conditions.

The globularization of the lamellar α phase by thermomechanical processing and subsequent annealing contributes to achieving the well-balanced strength and plasticity of titanium alloys. A ...high-throughput experimental method, wedge-shaped hot-rolling, was designed to obtain samples with gradient true strain distribution of 0~1.10. The samples with gradient strain distribution were annealed to obtain the gradient distribution of globularized α phase, which could rapidly assess the globularization fraction of α phase under different conditions. The static globularization behavior under various parameters was systematically studied. The applied prestrain provided the necessary driving force for static globularization during annealing. The substructure evolution and the boundary splitting occurred mainly at the early stage of annealing. The termination migration and the Ostwald ripening were dominant in the prolonged annealing. A backpropagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN) model for static globularization was developed, which coupled the factors of prestrain, annealing temperature, and annealing time. The average absolute relative errors (AARE) for the training and validation set are 3.17% and 3.22%, respectively. Further sensitivity analysis of the factors shows that the order of relative importance for static globularization is annealing temperature, prestrain and annealing time. The developed BP-ANN can precisely predict the static globularization kinetic curves without overfitting.
The historic Yinggelike nephrite jade deposit in the Altyn Tagh Mountains (Xinjiang, NW China) is renowned for its gem-quality nephrite with its characteristic light-yellow to greenish-yellow hue. ...Despite the extraordinary gemological quality and commercial significance of the Yinggelike nephrite, little work has been done on this nephrite deposit, due to its geographic remoteness and inaccessibility. This contribution presents the first systematic mineralogical and geochemical studies on the Yinggelike nephrite deposit. Electron probe microanalysis, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and isotope ratio mass spectrometry were used to measure the mineralogy, bulk-rock chemistry and stable (O and H) isotopes characteristics of samples from Yinggelike. Field investigation shows that the Yinggelike nephrite orebody occurs in the dolomitic marble near the intruding granitoids. Petrographic studies and EMPA data indicate that the nephrite is mainly composed of fine-grained tremolite, with accessory pargasite, diopside, epidote, allanite, prehnite, andesine, titanite, zircon, and calcite. Geochemical studies show that all nephrite samples have low bulk-rock Fe/(Fe + Mg) values (0.02–0.05), as well as low Cr (0.81–34.68 ppm), Co (1.10–2.91 ppm), and Ni (0.52–20.15 ppm) contents. Chondrite-normalized REE patterns of most samples exhibit strong to moderate negative Eu anomalies (0.04–0.67), moderate LREE enrichments, nearly flat HREE patterns, and low ΣREE contents (2.16–11.25 ppm). The nephrite samples have δ18O and δD values of 5.3 to 7.4‰ and –74.9 to –86.7‰, respectively. The mineralogy, bulk-rock chemistry, and O–H isotope characteristics are consistent with the dolomite-related nephrite classification. Based on mineral paragenetic relationships, three possible mineral crystallization stages are recognized: (1) diopside formed by prograde metasomatism; (2) nephrite jade formed by retrograde metasomatism and replacement of Stage I anhydrous minerals; (3) hydrothermal alteration after the nephrite formation. Features of transition metal contents indicate that the color of the Yinggelike nephrite is likely to be controlled by the Fe2+, Fe3+, and Mn. Yellowish color is related to Mn and especially Fe3+, while greenish color is related to Fe2+. Our new mineralogical and geochemical results on the Yinggelike nephrite provide better constraints on the formation of other nephrite deposits in the Altyn Tagh Mountains, and can facilitate future nephrite prospecting and research in the region.
A multifunctional microwave absorber with high thermal conductivity for 5G base station packaging comprising silylated GO/FeSiAl epoxy composites were fabricated by a simple solvent-handling method, ...and its microwave absorption properties and thermal conductivity were presented. It could act as an applicable microwave absorber for highly integrated 5G base station packaging with 5G antennas within a range of operating frequency of 2.575-2.645 GHz at a small thickness (2 mm), as evident from reflection loss with a maximum of -48.28 dB and an effective range of 3.6 GHz. Such a prominent microwave absorbing performance results from interfacial polarization resonance attributed to a nicely formed GO/FeSiAl interface through silylation. It also exhibits a significant enhanced thermal conductivity of 1.6 W/(mK) by constructing successive thermal channels.
