Background: Despite the improvement in the health care industry, the rates of undetected, untreated, and uncontrolled hypertension (HTN) are still very high, especially in rural areas of China. The ...aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and efficiency of a guideline-based HTN management (novel therapy) in population of rural areas of Guangdong Province. Methods: Totally, 3113 patients with essential HTN in a rural area of Guangdong Province were enrolled and assigned to two groups, named traditional (n = 372) and novel therapeutic (n = 2741 ) groups, respectively. Patients in the traditional group were treated routinely, and patients in the novel group were treated in a novel model characterized by regular educational programs for hypertensive populations, close monitoring of blood pressure in combination with finely tuned antihypertensive medications, strict implementation of lifestyle modification and improving medical knowledge and skill of local medical staff efficiently. After 2 years of follow-up, primary endpoints including magnitude of systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP and DBP) decrease, treated and controlled rates, as well as secondary endpoints, were evaluated in both groups. Results: Initially, the treated rate was significantly higher in traditional group than that of novel group (71.15% vs. 64.99%, P 〈 0.05), while the controlled rates were comparable and insignificant difference between baseline BP in both groups (31.07% vs. 26.88%, P 〉 0.05). Four variables were significantly different, namely smoking rate, daily vegetable consumption (VC), and serum levels of low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and fasting blood glucose between these two groups. After 2 years of follow-up, decreases in SBP and DBP were more prominent in the novel group (P 〈 0.001). Treated and controlled rates in both groups were both increased. Nevertheless, in comparison to the traditional group, controlled rate increased more significantly in the novel group (64.31% vs. 37.85%, P 〈 0.001). Variables indicating lifestyle modification such as high sodium consumption, percentages of alcohol abuse, daily VC were profoundly improved in the novel group. Conclusions: The guideline-based HTN management implemented in the current study was beneficial for HTN control in rural areas of Guangdong Province.
AIM To determine whether fructo-oligosaccharide(FOS) affects visceral sensitivity, inflammation, and production of intestinal short-chain fatty acids(SCFA) in an irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) mouse ...model.METHODS Mice were randomly assigned to daily oral gavage of saline solution with or without FOS(8 g/kg body weight) for 14 d. Mice were further assigned to receive either daily one-hour water avoidance stress(WAS) or sham-WAS for the first 10 d. After 2 wk, visceral sensitivity was measured by abdominal withdrawal reflex in response to colorectal distension and mucosal inflammation was evaluated. Gas chromatography, real-time reverse transcription PCR, and immunohistochemistry assays were used to quantify cecal concentrations of SCFA, intestinal cytokine expression, and number of intestinal mast cells per high-power field(HPF), respectively.RESULTS Mice subjected to WAS exhibited visceral hypersensitivity and low-grade inflammation. Among mice subjected to WAS, FOS increased visceral hypersensitivity and led to higher cecal concentrations of acetic acid(2.49 ± 0.63 mmol/L vs 1.49 ± 0.72 mmol/L, P < 0.05), propionic acid(0.48 ± 0.09 mmol/L vs 0.36 ± 0.05 mmol/L, P < 0.01), butyric acid(0.28 ± 0.09 mmol/L vs 0.19 ± 0.003 mmol/L, P < 0.05), as well as total SCFA(3.62 ± 0.87 mmol/L vs 2.27 ± 0.75 mmol/L, P < 0.01) compared to saline administration. FOS also increased ileal interleukin(IL)-23 mR NA(4.71 ± 4.16 vs 1.00 ± 0.99, P < 0.05) and colonic IL-1β mR NA(2.15 ± 1.68 vs 0.88 ± 0.53, P < 0.05) expressions as well as increased mean mast cell counts in the ileum(12.3 ± 2.6 per HPF vs 8.3 ± 3.6 per HPF, P < 0.05) and colon(6.3 ± 3.2 per HPF vs 3.4 ± 1.2 per HPF, P < 0.05) compared to saline administration in mice subjected to WAS. No difference in visceral sensitivity, intestinal inflammation, or cecal SCFA levels was detected with or without FOS administration in mice subjected to sham-WAS.CONCLUSION FOS administration intensifies visceral hypersensitivity and gut inflammation in stress-induced IBS mice, but not in the control mice, and is also associated with increased intestinal SCFA production.
The vibrating electrode method was proposed in the electro-slag remelting (ESR) process in this paper, and the effect of vibrating electrode on the solidification structure of ingot was studied. A ...transient three- dimensional (3D) coupled mathematical model was established to simulate the electromagnetic phenomenon, fluid flow as well as pool shape in the ESIR process with the vibrating electrode. The finite element volume method is developed to solve the electromagnetic field using ANSYS mechanical APDL software. Moreover, the electromagnetic force and Joule heating are interpolated as the source term of the momentum and energy equations. The multi-physical fields have been investigated and compared between the traditional electrode and the vibrating electrode in the ESR process. The results show that the drop process of metal droplets with the traditional electrode is scattered randomly. However, the drop process of metal droplets with the vibrating electrode is periodic. The highest temperature of slag layer with the vibrating electrode is higher than that with the traditional electrode, which can increase the melting rate due to the enhanced heat transfer in the vicinity of the electrode tip. The results also show that when the amplitude and frequency of the vibrating electrode increase, the cycle of drop process of metal droplets decreases significantly.
Curcumin has been shown to significantly improve spatial memory impairment induced by HIV-1 gp 120 V3 in rats, but the electrophysiological mechanism remains unknown. Using extracellular ...microelectrode recording techniques, this study confirmed that the gp120 V3 loop could suppress long-term potentiation in the rat hippocampal CA1 region and synaptic plasticity, and that curcumin could antagonize these inhibitory effects. Using a Fura-2/AM calcium ion probe, we found that curcumin resisted the effects of the gp120 V3 loop on hippocampal synaptosomes and decreased Ca2+ concentration in synaptosomes. This effect of curcumin was identical to nimodipine, suggesting that curcumin improved the inhibitory effects of gpl20 on synaptic plasticity, ameliorated damage caused to the central nervous system, and might be a potential neuroprotective drug.
Quantitative prediction of deep orebody based on 3D visualization technology is of great significance in mineral exploration. Based on the 2D traditional quantitative predicting method, the ...geoanomaly theory and the mineral exploration model idea, we constructed 3D models of the topography, strata, structure, magmatite and prospecting engineering of the study area using the commercial 3D modeling software Micromine, delineated eight prospective areas and estimated the gold resources amount with methods of Abundance Estimation and Volume Estimation. Then, we compared and counted the known ore blocks and the predicted blocks, which quantitatively explains this prediction's validity. The results show that Xiaoqinling gold belt in Tongguan has convincing potential for gold development and utilization and the prediction method based on 3D visualization technology proves to be effective.
The main purpose of this study is to examine the fluctuation characteristics of natural Karelinia caspica community from the year of 2007 to 2008 in desert riparian forest under surface ...water-overflowing disturbance in the lower reaches of the Tarim River, China. According to the representative sampling method method, sampling sites were conducted and investigated. In this paper, community structure, species diversity and dominant species were chosen as the indictors which could reflect the characteristics of community fluctuation. And then the fluctuation process of K. caspica community was studied. The main results are shown as follows. The species composition is changed a lot in K. caspica community under surface water-overflowing disturbance. The Sorensen similarity coefficient of plant species is 12.50% in community under the disturbance and non-disturbance, indicating that species composition is very similar and main structure of the community hasn't changed on these two different treatments. Species numbers and richness are increased in community under the effect of the disturbance. On the other hand, community structure transform simple into power to complex. Under the disturbance, species diversity of K. caspica community has great change. And the species richness, species evenness and species diversity are increased obviously while ecological dominance of species is appreciably decreased in K. caspica community. Based on the data, the dominant species is selected from community. During the fluctuation process of community, species composition and community structure transform simple into complex significantly in K. caspica community under disturbance. Species diversity is increased during the process of community change. It shows that the surface water supplement is an effective measure to make K. caspica community positively fluctuate.
Background: Trichophyton rubrum represents the most common infectious fungus responsible for dermatophytosis in human, but the mechanism involved is still not completely understood. An appropriate ...model constructed to simulate host infection is the prerequisite to study the pathogenesis of dernlatophytosis caused by T.. rubrum. In this study, we intended to develop a new T. rubrum infection model in vitro, using the three-dimensional reconstructed epidermis - EpiSkin, and to pave the way for further investigation of the mechanisms involved in T. rubrum infection. Methods: The reconstructed human epidermis (RHE) was infected by inoculating low-dose (400 conidia) and high-dose (4000 conidia) T. rubrum conidia to optimize the infection dose. During the various periods after infection, the samples were processed for pathological examination and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation. Results: The histological analysis of RHE revealed a fully differentiated epidermis with a functional stratum corneum, which was analogous to the normal human epidermis. The results of hematoxylin and eosin staining and the periodic acid-Schiff staining showed that the infection dose of 400 conidia was in accord with the pathological characteristics of host dermatophytosis caused by T. rubrum. SEM observations further exhibited the process of 77 ruhrum infection in an intuitionistic way, Conclusions: We established the T. rubrum infection model on RHE in vitro successfully. It is a promising model fbr further investigation of the mechanisms involved in T. rubrum infection.

As the qualitative assessment does not objectively reflect the nature characteristics of the data model, it is also necessary to establish a quantitative evaluation method in order to scientifically ...reflect the performance computing space of X3D-based ORGDM. However, other professional model for reflecting the objective laws of nature, its quantitative evaluation method does not apply to the quantitative evaluation on X3D-based ORGDM. On the basis of database research, combining with the characteristics of geospatial data model, put forward that use the superimposed calculation efficiency based on X3D-based ORGDM to quantitatively evaluate its performance space under the two different management style between comparing file system and database systems in this paper. Then, design the experiment according to the method. The experimental results objectively reflect the performance computing space of X3D-based ORGDM really. At last, we introduce the application of X3D-based ORGDM for the specific project briefly.
