Making metal–organic cages into a cluster-organic framework is rarely known and may bring interesting functions. Ti4L6 (where L = embonate) is an ultrastable tetrahedron that can be used as a ...4-connecting crystal engineering tecton. In this work, we first obtain two unique Ti4L6 cage-supported cluster-organic frameworks including the globular Ba6(μ2–OH)84+ cluster and the hollow α-Keggin-type Zn12(μ3–OH)4(μ2–OH)128+ cluster, respectively. Such extraordinary assembly significantly enhances their structural stability, so that both of them have notable optical limiting performances.
OBJECTIVE：To investigate the effect of Ruyanneixiao cream（RYNX） on the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α（HIF-1α）, hexokinase 2（HK2）,phosphofructokinase（PFK）, and pyruvate kinase M2（PKM2） mRNA ...and protein in MCF-10 AT cells and in an animal model of precancerous mammary lesions.METHODS：Following treatment of MCF-10 AT cells with RYNX, tamoxifen（TAM） and YC-1 for 48 h,HIF-1α, HK2, PFK, PKM2 mRNA and protein expression was analyzed.Fifty female SD rats were randomly divided into control, model, TAM, and highand low-dose RYNX groups, with 10 rats in each group.A precancerous mammary lesion model was established for all groups except the control group.High-and low-dose RYNX cream containing TAM was coated on the breasts of animals in the corresponding groups.The rat mammary tissue was removed in the 10 th week and HIF-1α, HK2, PFK,PKM2 mRNA and protein was analyzed.RESULTS：In vitro analyses demonstrated that, compared with the matrix group, HIF-1α, HK2, PFK,PKM2 mRNA and protein expression was significantly decreased in the RYNX group（P 〈 0.05）.Compared with the YC-1 ＋ RYNX group, HK2, PFK,and PKM2 protein expression was significantly reduced in the RYNX group.HIF-1α, HK2, PFK, and PKM2 protein expression was increased significantly in the model group（P 〈 0.05） compared with the control group, while HIF-1α, HK2, PFK, and PKM2 mRNA and protein expression was significantly decreased in both the high-and low-dose RYNX groups（P 〈 0.05）, with the effect being greater in the high-dose group.CONCLUSION：RYNX can block precancerous breast lesions by decreasing the expression of HK2,PFK, and PKM2 mRNA and protein via inhibition of HIF-1α mRNA and protein overexpression in a dose-dependent manner.
Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of a novel biodegradable polymer and rapamycin-coating stent, the EXCEL stent, in the treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD), as compared with the ...CypherTM stent. Methods In this prospective, non-randomized study, 60 consecutive patients with symptomatic CAD received either an EXCEL stent (n=32), or a CypherTM stent(n=28),according to their respective treatment intention. Follow-up angiography was performed at a mean of 180±40 days. The primary endpoint of the study was the occurrence of a major adverse cardiac event (MACE), including death, myocardial infarction, or target-vessel revascularization during the 6 months after stenting. The secondary end points included the in-stent late luminal loss (LLL), percentage of in-stent stenosis of the luminal diameter, and the rate of restenosis (luminal narrowing of 50 percent or more) at 6 months. Results There were no significant differences between the two groups in baseline characteristics, including the distribution of target vessel and lesion types. During the follow up period of 6 months, there were no occurrences of MACE in either group. Twenty-seven patients(84%) in the EXCEL group and 10 (36 %) in the CypherTM group underwent quantitative coronary angiography at 6 months. For these patients, no restenosis occurred, and there were no differences in the in-stent stenosis of the luminal diameter (5.98±5.52% vs 5.21 ±6.3%,P＞0.05) and the LLL (-0.02±0.09 mm vs -0.01±0.07 mm, P＞0.05). Conclusions Compared with the CypherTM stent, the EXCEL Stent with biodegradable polymer and rapamycin-coating showed similar efficacy in the prevention of neointimal proliferation, restenosis, and associated clinical events in CAD patients.
Two types of crylAc/cpti transgenic rice （GM1 and GM2） and their parental non-crylAc/cpti rice （CK1 and CK2） were planted in the field at Wufeng, Fhjian Province, China for four years to investigate ...the influence of genetically modified rice on diversity of bacterial and fungal community in the paddy soil. The community composition and abundance of bacteria or fungi in the paddy soil were assessed at different growth stages of rice by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and real-time polymerase chain reaction based on 16S rRNA gene or SSU rRNA gene in the 4th year after the experimental establishment. The composition of bacterial or fungal community changed during rice growth, while no significant differences were observed between the fields cultivated with GM1 and CK1, or between the fields cultivated with GM2 and CK2 in either bacterial or fungal community composition. The copy numbers of bacterial 16S rRNA gene in the soils with CK1, CK2, GM1 and GM2 ranged from 5.64 x 10i1 to 6.89 x 10li copies g-1 dry soil at rice growth stages, and those of fungal SSU rRNA gene from 5.24 x 10s to 8.68 x l0s copies g-1 dry soil. There were no marked differences in the copies of bacterial 16S rRNA gene or fungal SSU rRNA gene between CK1 and GM1 or between CK2 and GM2 at any growth stage of rice. Planting crylAc/cpti transgenic rice had no significant effect on composition and abundance of bacterial and fungal community in paddy soil during the rice growing season at least in the short term.

Controlling and manipulating the fluorescence of single fluorophores is of great interest in recent years for its potential uses in improving the performance of molecular photonics and molecular ...electronics, such as in organic light-emitting devices, single photon sources, organic field-effect transistors, and probes or sensors based on single molecules. This review shows how the fluorescence emission of single organic molecules can be modified using local electromagnetic fields of metallic nanostructures and electric-field-induced electron transfer. Electric-field-induced fluorescence modulation, hysteresis, and the achievement of fluorescence switch are discussed in detail.
Rice blast caused by Magnaporthe oryzae (M. oryzae) is one of the most destructive diseases, which causes significant rice yield losses and affects global food security. To better understand genetic ...variations among different isolates of M. oryzae in nature, we re-sequenced the genomes of two field isolates, CH43 and Zhong-10-8-14, which showed distinct pathogenecity on most of the rice cultivars. Genome-wide genetic variation analysis reveals that ZHONG-10-8-14 exhibits higher sequence variations than CH43. Structural variations (SVs) detection shows that the sequence variations primarily occur in exons and intergenic regions. Bioinformatics analysis for gene variations reveals that many pathogenecity-related pathways are enriched. In addition, 193 candidate effectors with various DNA polymorphisms were identified, including two known effectors AVR-Pik and AVR-Pita1. Comparative polymorphism analysis of thirteen randomly selected effectors suggests that the genetic variations of effectors are under positive selection. The expression pattern analysis of several pathogenecity-related variant genes indicates that these genes are differentially regulated in two isolates, with much higher expression levels in Zhong-10-8-14 than CH43. Our data demonstrate that the genetic variations of effectors and pathogenecity-related genes are under positive selection, resulting in the distinct pathogenicities of CH43 and Zhong-10-8-14 on rice.
Objective To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the assessment of plaque characteristics and drug eluting stent deployment quality in the ...elderly patients with unstable angina (UA) and non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Methods OCT was used in elderly patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions.Fifteen patients, 9 males and 6 females with mean age of 72.6±5.3 years (range 67-92 years) were enrolled in the study. Images were obtained before initial balloon dilatation and following stent deployment. The plaque characteristics before dilation, vessel dissection,tissue prolapse, stent apposition and strut distribution after stent implantation were evaluated. Results Fifteen lesions were selected from 32 angiographic lesions as study lesions for OCT imaging after diagnostic coronary angiography. There were 7 lesions in the left anterior descending artery, 5 lesions in the right coronary artery and 3 lesions in the left circumflex coronary artery. Among them,12 (80.0%) were lipid-rich plaques, and 10 (66.7%) were vulnerable plaques with fibrous cap thickness 54.2±7.3 μm. Seven ruptured culprit plaques (46.7%) were found; 4 in UA patients and 3 in NSTEMI patients. Tissue prolapse was observed in 11 lesions (73.3%).Irregular stent strut distribution was detected in 8 lesions (53.3%). Vessel dissections were found in 5 lesions (33.3%). Incomplete stent apposition was observed in 3 stents (20%) with mean spacing between the struts and the vessel wall 172±96 mm (range 117-436 mm).Conclusions 1) It is safe and feasible to perform intravascular OCT to differentiate vulnerable coronary plaque and monitor stent deployment in elderly patients with UA and USTEMI. 2) Coronary plaques in elderly patients with UA and USTEMI could be divided into acute ruptured plaque, vulnerable plaque, lipid-rich plaque, and stable plaque. 3) Minor or critical plaque rupture is one of the mechanisms of UA in elderly patients. 4) Present drug eluting stent implantation is complicated with multiple tissue prolapses which are associated with irregular strut distributions. 5) The action and significance of tissue prolapse on acute vessel flow and in-stent thrombus and restenosis need to be further studied.
Objective： Alzheimer＇s disease and vascular dementia are responsible for more than 80% of dementia cases. These two conditions share common risk factors including hypertension. Cerebral small vessel ...disease （CSVD） is strongly associated with both hypertension and cognitive impairment. In this review, we identify the pathophysiological changes in CSVD that are caused by hypertension and further explore the relationship between CSVD and cognitive impairment. Data Sources： We searched and scanned the PubMed database for recently published literatures up to December 2017. We used the keywords of＂hypertension＂, ＂cerebral small vessel disease＂, ＂＇white matter lesions＂, ＂enlarged perivascular spaces＂, ＂lacunar infarcts＂, ＂cerebral microbleeds＂, and ＂cognitive impairment＂ in the database of PubMed. Study Selection： Articles were obtained and reviewed to analyze the hypertension-induced pathophysiological changes that occur in CSVD and the correlation between CSVD and cognitive impairment. Results： In recent years, studies have demonstrated that hypertension-related changes （e.g., small vascular lesions, inflarnmator3, reactions, hypoperfusion, oxidative stress, damage to autoregulatory processes and the blood-brain barrier, and cerebral amyloid angiopathy） can occur over time in cerebral small vessels, potentially leading to lower cognitive function when blood pressure （BP） control is poor or lacking. Both isolated and co-occurrent CSVD can lead to cognitive deterioration, and this effect may be attributable to a dysfunction in either the cholinergic system or the functionality of cortical and subcortical tracts. Conclusions： We explore the currently available evidence about the hypertensive vasculopathy and inflammatory changes that occur in CSVD. Both are vital prognostic indicators of the development of cognitive impairment. Future studies should be performed to validate the relationship between BP levels and CSVD progression and between the nunabers, volumes, and anatomical locations of CSVD and cognitive impairment.
