This paper presents a simple circuit for balancing series-connected battery cells. The circuit is composed of one low-voltage metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) for each cell ...and a symmetrical multiwinding transformer for a group of cells. Only one control signal is needed for all MOSFETs, and energy can be directly transferred from higher voltage cells to lower voltage cells. A small capacitor is added to form a resonant circuit with the transformer magnetizing inductance so that soft switching can be achieved in some operation range to obtain high efficiency. The circuit balance function and soft-switching condition are analyzed and verified by simulation and experiments. A circuit for balancing a 4- and 12-cell battery group is tested. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of the circuit. The energy transfer efficiency between cells can reach up to 93%. The circuit can be easily scaled to battery strings containing up to 12 battery cells, directly applicable to consumer electronics application where the number of cells is typically less than 12. A battery pack containing a large number of battery cells, such as the ones used in electric vehicles, can be balanced in groups, for example, in modules containing 12 cells each and with one additional circuit to balance among the modules.

Using a saddle point approximation, we determine our defect index in the large

limit as a simple function of the chemical potentials and show independently that it is reproduced by the renormalized action of the brane in the black hole background. Along the way, we also comment on the Cardy limit and the thermodynamics of the D3-brane in the generalized ensemble. The defect index sharply distinguishes between the confining and the deconfining phases of the gauge theory and thus is a supersymmetric non-perturbative order parameter for these large
N
phase transitions which deserves further investigation. Finally, our work provides an example where the properties of a black hole coupled to an external system can be analyzed precisely.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most prevalent cancer globally and stands as the second principal contributor to cancer-related fatalities. Recently, emerging research has emphasized the ...role of pan apoptosis (PANoptosis) in tumor development and anti-tumor therapy. In the course of this investigation, we meticulously identified and conducted a correlation analysis between differentially expressed genes associated with PANoptosis in CRC (CPAN_DEGs) and the proportion of immune cells. Subsequently, we formulated a prognostic score based on the CPAN_DEGs. Further our analysis revealed a noteworthy reduction in UNC5D mRNA expression within HCT116, HT29 and SW480 cells, as validated by qRT-PCR assay. Furthermore, scrutinizing the TCGA database unveiled a distinctive trend wherein individuals with the low UNC5D expression exhibited significantly reduced overall survival compared to their counterparts with the high UNC5D levels. The drug susceptibility analysis of UNC5D was further performed, which showed that UNC5D was corassociated with the sensitivity of CRC to 6-Thioguanine. The outcomes of our investigation underscore the mechanisms by which PANoptosis influences immune dysregulation as well as prognostic outcome in CRC.
Biochar and chemical fertilizer have been widely used in agriculture. Most studies have proved that they not only alter soil nutrient content, but also have an impact on soil microbial communities. ...However, the effects of biochar and chemical fertilizer application on the overall bacterial community in different soil types under rainfall conditions are not yet understood. We took rainfall as a fixed influencing factor and selected four typical soils of China to investigate the bacterial effects of biochar and chemical fertilizer at 25 mm rainfall, and to identify specific differential bacteria and their functions, and to explore the changes of the bacterial community structure of different soil types. The depth of simulated rainfall was 25 mm each time. Yellow-brown soil, fluvo-aquic soil, lou soil, and black soil were chosen for experiment and each soil was divided into four treatments, included non-biochar and non-fertilizer (CK), fertilizer alone (F), biochar alone (C), and combination of biochar and fertilizer (FC). The capability of object search is a prerequisite for mobile robot to perform everyday tasks in the home environment. Due to the dynamic nature of object and the particularity of home environment, it ...still remains a challenging problem for mobile robot to find the dynamic target object with the low total cost. To address this problem, a priori knowledge-based approach for dynamic object search is presented in this paper. Inspired by human search process, the common sense knowledge about typical spatial location and the relationship between objects is modeled as a priori knowledge. On this basis, we propose a novel search strategy to improve the search efficiency of mobile robot at the scale of the entire home environment. Unlike the existing methods, a trade-off between the inferred spatial location knowledge and the distance of robot position and candidate room is considered, which permits robot to prioritize the search effort for the candidate room in which the target object is most likely to be found. Also, the search space inside the room is further reduced by using a priori knowledge-guided search heuristics. Meanwhile, the update of knowledge is also investigated to maintain its reliability. The proposed approach is implemented in both simulation and real environments, and evaluated through extensive experiments. The experimental results are provided to demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of our proposal.
Efficient dual‐single‐atom catalysts are crucial for enhancing atomic efficiency and promoting the commercialization of fuel cells, but addressing the sluggish kinetics of hydrogen oxidation reaction ...(HOR) in alkaline media and the facile dual‐single‐atom site generation remains formidable challenges. Here, we break the local symmetry of ultra‐small ruthenium (Ru) nanoparticles by embedding cobalt (Co) single atoms, which results in the release of Ru single atoms from Ru nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide (Co1Ru1,n/rGO). In situ operando spectroscopy and theoretical calculations reveal that the oxygen‐affine Co atom disrupts the symmetry of ultra‐small Ru nanoparticles, resulting in parasitic Ru and Co dual‐single‐atom within Ru nanoparticles. The interaction between Ru single atoms and nanoparticles forms effective active centers. The parasitism of Co atoms modulates the adsorption of OH intermediates on Ru active sites, accelerating HOR kinetics through faster formation of *H2O. As anticipated, Co1Ru1,n/rGO exhibits ultrahigh mass activity (7.68 A mgRu−1) at 50 mV and exchange current density (0.68 mA cm−2), which are 6 and 7 times higher than those of Ru/rGO, respectively. Notably, it also displays exceptional durability surpassing that of commercial Pt catalysts. This investigation provides valuable insights into hybrid multi‐single‐atom and metal nanoparticle catalysis.

This study serves the purpose of assisting users in selecting a comfortable seat surface material for office chairs and enhancing users' comfort while using office chairs. To address the issue that ...the selection of traditional seat surface material is too subjective and that the prediction effect is poor, an improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA) optimized least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) method for office chair seat surface material comfort prediction has been proposed. Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA) was optimized with Sobol sequences, nonlinear inertial weights, and a crisscross optimization algorithm to produce the Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm (ISSA), and then the relevant parameters of the LSSVM algorithm were optimized with the modified algorithm to improve its prediction performance. The prediction accuracy of the ISSA-LSSVM model is as high as 95.75% by combining the body pressure distribution experiments; the root mean square error (RMSE) is 0.29; the goodness of fit (R
) is 0.92; the mean absolute error (MAE) is 0.24; the standard deviation (RSD) is 5.99%. The ISSA-LSSVM model predicts seat surface material comfort more accurately and reliably. This strategy can assist consumers to narrow down their seat surface material choices and even suggest an optimal selection. In this way, it can boost users' pleasure with office chairs, which has great potential for wide application.
This paper investigates the fuel consumption minimization problem of a blended-mode plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). A simplified mathematical model of the PHEV was constructed to obtain ...optimal solutions for depleting the battery to a given final state of charge (SOC) under constant vehicle speed. An optimal power strategy was constructed from theoretical analysis and simulation for constant speed cases and then applied to typical drive-cycle simulations for a middle-size plug-in sport utility vehicle in the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency US06 (Supplemental Federal Test Procedure), and the CR-City drive cycles. Simulation results indicate that the proposed control strategy is more efficient than other strategies of interest. Only the electric system loss characteristics, vehicle power demand, total battery energy, and trip distance are needed to implement the proposed control strategy in a PHEV. It does not rely on the detailed trip information other than the total trip distance. Therefore, it is possible to implement the control strategy in real time if the total trip distance is known before the trip.
