The distribution of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) was determined in water, sediment and pore water of the ...Jiulong River Estuary and Western Xiamen Sea, China. Total PAH concentrations varied from 6.96 to 26.9 μg/l in water, 59–1177 ng/g dry weight in surficial sediments, and 158–949 μg/l in pore water. The PAHs were present in higher levels in pore water than in surface water, due possibly to higher concentrations of dissolved organic carbon or colloids with which the hydrophobic pollutants were strongly associated. Such a concentration gradient implies a potential flux of pollutants from sediment pore water to overlying water. The levels of PAHs in water and pore water were significantly higher than those found in 1998, suggesting recent inputs of these compounds into the area and re-working of sediment phase. The composition pattern of PAHs in the three phases was dominated by high molecular weight PAHs, in particular 5-ring PAHs. The salinity profile of dissolved PAHs suggested that they all behaved non-conservatively due to deviation from the theoretical dilution line. No correlation was found between PAH concentrations in sediment and those in pore water, and the correlation between the partition coefficients of PAHs and sediment organic carbon content was not significant, suggesting the complexity of the partition behaviour of PAHs. As a result of high PAH concentrations in water and pore water, it is likely that they may have caused mortality to certain exposed organisms.

Three host-guest complexes of phthalocyanines (Pc) with α-, β- or γ-cyclodextrins (CDs) were prepared and their interaction modes, reactive oxygen species (ROSs) generation ability and in vitro anticancer activities were studied and compared. After forming complex with CD, the aggregation degree of Pc was greatly decreased and the water solubility and photodynamic activity was sharply increased. Computer modeling results indicated that the interaction modes between Pc and CDs were varied with different kinds of CD. Especially, the complex of Pc and β-CD has superior stability, ROSs generation ability, and anticancer activity to other complexes.
In this paper, we are presenting a revised chronology of the best developed, longest (100 m) LPS in Hungary dating back 1.1 Ma: borehole Udvari-2A. It is based on a non-tuned age-depth model, built ...on the position of the Matuyama-Brunhes Boundary, Jaramillo and Olduvai Subchrons. Furthermore, on the assignment of formerly recorded uninterpreted geomagnetic reversals in both chrons. Other chronometric tools (AMS 14C dating, biostratigraphy, tephrostratigraphy) yielding absolute ages and/or ensuring validation of these were also used. Records of a Middle Pleistocene gastropod index fossil Neostyriaca corynodes (400 -140 ka) facilitated verification of ages between MIS 10 and MIS 6. Multiple age control points at 15, 25, 27, 45, 120, 191, 362, 430, 670, 780, 900, 990, 1070 ka were established for the last ca. 1.1 Ma. The resulting chronology is the best resolved independent one so far among Danubian Basin LPSs. In light of our data, the S3-S4 units were fused as S3 in all Serbian, and some Romanian sites and re-correlated with MIS 9. The results also point to a misassignment of the S5 units at these sites to MIS 13–15 leading to erroneous conclusions regarding paleoclimatic conditions and cyclicity. In our new stratigraphic scheme, these S5 paleosols were taken to represent the S4 paleosol and recorrelated with MIS 11. Finally, an ideal stratigraphic column dating back 1.1 Ma for SW Hungary was constructed and correlated with the Chinese loess/paleosol sequence of Xifeng and the benthic oxygen isotope record down to MIS 31.

To report the initial experiences with functional cine magnetic resonance urography (cine MRU) and assess its usefulness as a novel postoperative evaluation method of ileal ureter substitution.
The ...medical records of 17 patients from who underwent cine MRU during June 2010 to December 2019 during their follow-up after ileal ureter substitution were collected. The cine MRU videos of reconstructive urinary tract were observed, and the luminal diameter, contraction ratio, peristaltic waves, and ureteral jets were measured.
Seventeen patients underwent cine MRU after ileal ureter substitution during their follow-up. Based on their cine MRU videos assessing the morphology and the peristaltic motility of the reconstructive urinary tract, there was resolution of preoperative hydronephrosis, which matched their ameliorative renal function. Clearly, peristaltic motility of the ileal graft was observed in 14 patients with obvious peristaltic waves and ureteral jets.
This study is the first to assess the clinical utility of functional cine MRU during the patient follow-up after ileal ureter substitution. Cine MRU is a radiation-free, non-invasive imaging method that can clearly show the morphology and the peristaltic motility of the ileal graft. Therefore, cine MRU, as a novel technique, will be extremely useful in the postoperative evaluation of patients after ileal ureter substitution.

Background
Owing to the low prevalence of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) in lupus nephritis (LN), there is no study about the differences between proteinase 3 (PR3)-ANCA positivity and ...myeloperoxidase (MPO)-ANCA positivity in LN until now.
Methods
Here we perform a retrospective study to determine whether there are differences in clinic-pathological characteristics and renal outcomes between PR3-ANCA-positive LN patients and MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients.
Results
A total of 26 (27.4%) PR3-ANCA-positive LN patients and 69 (72.6%) MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients (p < 0.001) were eligible for this study. Compared with PR3-ANCA-positive LN patients, MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients had significantly higher levels of serum creatinine (109.6 µmol/l vs. 74.3 µmol/l, p = 0.02), lower titers of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) (128 vs. 256, p = 0.01), and higher serum concentrations of C3 and C4 (0.54 g/l vs. 0.36 g/l, p = 0.002; 0.12 g/l vs. 0.06 g/l, p < 0.001; respectively). Furthermore, the MPO-ANCA-positive group had higher scores for chronicity index (p = 0.007), including interstitial fibrosis (p = 0.001) and tubular atrophy (p = 0.03) on biopsy specimens. The renal survival rates for MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients were 94.1% at 1 year, 83.2% at 5 years and 79.6% at 10 years; these values were worse when compared with those of the PR3-ANCA-positive group, which were 100%, 100% and 100%, respectively.
Conclusion
MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients had more severely impaired baseline renal function and less active lupus serology. More severely chronic pathological changes, including interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy on renal specimens, occurred in MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients. We found that MPO-ANCA-positive LN patients had worse renal outcomes.
Synovial sarcomas are tumors typically located in the extremities and characterized by a t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2) chromosomal translocation. With only around 100 cases reported in the literature, cardiac ...synovial sarcomas are extremely rare.
We describe a case of a 59-year-old male who presented to his primary care physician with chest pain, palpitations, and dyspnea and was diagnosed with atrial flutter. Following atrial ablation, a transthoracic echocardiogram incidentally revealed a 5.5 × 5.0 cm heterogeneous mass. Further workup found a heterogeneous mass with mild fluorodeoxyglucose uptake that was abutting the left atrium, left ventricle, and left pulmonary veins. The tumor was resected and confirmed to be a monophasic synovial sarcoma with a SS18-SSX gene fusion. Four months post-operative, the patient had recovered well from surgery. He is currently undergoing concurrent radiation and chemotherapy.
Due to the rarity of this tumor, guidelines on diagnosis and treatment come only from case reports. Our case describes a primary cardiac synovial sarcoma arising from the left atrium in the atrioventricular groove in which diagnosis of atrial flutter preceded detection of the mass.

A laminar kinetic energy transition model appropriate for hypersonic flow heat transfer is proposed in this paper. Based on the laminar kinetic energy transition model at low speed, three rectifications are made to make it possess the ability to predict hypersonic flow transition. Firstly, turbulence length scale is revised to consider boundary layer information directly and reflect the kinematic wall effect correctly at hypersonic speed. Secondly, large-scale eddy viscosity is reconstructed to take hypersonic unstable modes into account to describe the procedure of flow instability. Additionally, for the sake of a better results of the full-turbulence simulation and to be compatible with the revised transition model, the eddy viscosity in sheer stress transport model is adopted to substitute for small-scale eddy viscosity. The model has been applied to a number of relevant test cases, including flat plate boundary layers and boundary layer transition over a blunt cone at different Reynolds numbers. The test cases demonstrate the capacity of the model to reproduce transition flow behavior with a reasonable degree of accuracy and reflect the effect of Reynolds number successfully. While it still needs further investigation to capture the overshoot of heat transfer and take more factors showing significant influence on transition into consideration.
The aim of this study was to examine the role of lncRNA-differentiation antagonizing non-protein coding RNA (DANCR) and its underlying mechanisms in chondrogenesis, more specifically in synovial ...fluid-derived mesenchymal stem cell (SFMSCs).
The expression levels of DANCR in SFMSCs were measured by qRT-PCR. Luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay were used to investigate the direct target of DANCR and miR-1275 in SFMSCs. The expression of matrix metallopeptidase 13 (MMP13, also known as chondrogenic marker) protein was examined by Western blot. Cell proliferation was analyzed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, while chondrogenic differentiation was explored by sGAG assay.
Our data indicated that DANCR can promote SFMSCs proliferation and chondrogenesis. In addition, miR-1275 was indicated as a direct target of DANCR. MiR-1275 was negatively regulated by DANCR via competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism. Moreover, our data revealed that miR-1275 could bind to MMP13 and regulate its expression.
Our findings suggested that DANCR was involved in SFMSCs proliferation and chondrogenesis. Mechanistically, DANCR functions as a sponge RNA for miR-1275 that regulates the expression of target gene MMP13. These data provide a therapeutic option for Osteoarthritis (OA).
Multivariate volume visualization is important for many applications including petroleum exploration and medicine. State‐of‐the‐art tools allow users to interactively explore volumes with multiple ...linked parameter‐space views. However, interactions in the parameter space using trial‐and‐error may be unintuitive and time consuming. Furthermore, switching between different views may be distracting. In this paper, we propose GuideME: a novel slice‐guided semiautomatic multivariate volume exploration approach. Specifically, the approach comprises four stages: attribute inspection, guided uncertainty‐aware lasso creation, automated feature extraction and optional spatial fine tuning and visualization. Throughout the exploration process, the user does not need to interact with the parameter views at all and examples of complex real‐world data demonstrate the usefulness, efficiency and ease‐of‐use of our method.
