Purpose: To evaluate the incidence of strabismus in congenital and developmental cataract surgery in patients with a follow-up longer than five years. Methods: All patients with congenital and ...developmental cataracts observed from 1996 to 2013 with a follow-up longer than five years were retrospectively included. Results: We included 117 patients (58 females and 59 males, mean age 0.62±0.3 years, 160 eyes) with congenital cataracts and 73 patients (32 females and 41 males, mean age 6.63±0.7 years, 121 eyes) with developmental cataracts. Before cataract surgery, strabismus was present in 88 patients with congenital cataracts (75.2%) and in 30 patients with developmental cataracts (41.1%) (p=0.01). After a follow-up of 9.26±1.3 years (range, 5-14 years), a significantly greater incidence of strabismus was observed after surgery only in patients with unilateral congenital cataracts who underwent cataract removal and primary IOL implantation (p=0.02). Distance BCVA and near BCVA were better after surgery for developmental cataracts (p<0.05). Presence of binocular vision was more frequent after surgery for developmental cataracts (p=0.001). Conclusion: Incidence of strabismus and postsurgical onset of strabismus at long-term follow-up was greater in patients with congenital cataracts.

Methods: In this retrospective interventional study, patients with congenital and ...developmental cataracts observed from 1996 to 2013 were included. Traumatic cataracts and cataracts secondary to other pathologies were excluded from the study. Minimum follow-up for inclusion was five years. Results: We included 117 patients operated on for congenital cataracts (58 females and 59 males, mean age 0.59 ± 0.2 years, 160 eyes) and 73 patients operated on for developmental cataracts (32 females and 41 males, mean age 6.63 ± 0.7 years, 121 eyes). Mean postsurgical follow-up was 9.26 ± 1.3 years (range, 5-14 years). After surgery for developmental cataracts, both distance and near BCVA were greater (p = 0.001), as was the presence of binocular vision (p = 0.001), while incidence of strabismus and myopic shift was lower (p = 0.001 and p = 0.02, respectively). Conclusion: Postsurgical data showed better functional outcomes in developmental cataracts when compared to congenital cataracts.

L’utilisation de cette catégorie en termes essentiellement visuels ...et symboliques de la part des historiens et des géographes peut être mise en relation avec l’influence de la géographie culturelle. Cet article essaie d’identifier quelques-unes des discussions théoriques qui ont donné naissance à cette démarche méthodologique, et en particulier sa distance par rapport à l’analyse localisée des processus. Enfin, l’auteur propose une lecture alternative de la notion de paysage grâce aux méthodes de l’écologie historique, dont il illustre les possibilités explicatives à travers un exemple d’analyse localisée des pratiques d’utilisation des ressources végétales dans les montagnes de Ligurie.

The recent success of the category of landscape in history allows to question forms and contents of the so-called ‘Spatial turn’. Historians and Geographers seem to use the category of landscape exclusively in a visual and symbolic perspective, an attitude which can be related to the influence of cultural geography. Then the article tries to sort out some of the theoretical discussions from which cultural geography was born, and their indifference to the localised analysis of processes of change. Finally an alternative reading of landscape is proposed, which is based on methods deriving from historical ecology. An example of a localised analysis of practices of utilisation of vegetal resources in Ligurian rural society helps to show the explanatory potentiality of this approach.

L’article analyse un miracle qui s’est passé dans la chapelle d’une institution charitable dans la ville d’Asti au début du xviiie siècle. L’événement prodigieux - une hostie qui saigne après la ...consécration - est l’objet d’une série de témoignages donnés par les différents protagonistes : un jeune prêtre, un chanoine, un notaire et un fonctionnaire de l’état savoyard.à partir d’un « texte » qui signale les négociations de sens qu’un événement prodigieux peut assumer, l’article montre qu’une direction d’interprétation féconde est constituée par la perspective juridictionnelle, qui situe les actions dans l’enchevêtrement des pouvoirs locaux. Cette perspective déplace notre représentation du sacré, puisque souligne constamment le lien étroit entre sacré et action. N’importe quel phénomène religieux existe et se développe à l’intérieur d’un enchevêtrement de juridictions et, en vertu de ses dynamiques intérieures, le modifie à son tour. Cette pluralité de juridictions, de systèmes juridiques et d’ actions change notre représentation du local. Il s’agit d’observer les actions (et les textes qui en parlent) à une « échelle » (rapport) cartographique, topographique. C’est la dimension où l’on peut observer la présence simultanée des différentes prérogatives institutionnelles et de leurs tensions et compétitions. D’où la nécessité de l’analyse topographique pour dresser cette pluralité, et expliquer les possibles relations entre action, texte et lieu. La lecture « dense » des textes qu’on propose renvoie à des actions qui en constituent le contexte, ou qui constituent un contexte tout court. Il s’agit de contextes rhétoriques, bien sûr, mais qui font référence à des dimensions qui ne sont exclusivement, et peut être ne sont nullement, textuelles.

A bleeding host in a charitable institution in Asti at the beginning of the Eighteenth century, allows us to understand the processes of genesis of space which marked the Old Regime society: by these ...terms here the creation of discontinuous spaces in juridical and topographical terms is meant. A number of witnesses, of different social statuses, point to different cultural aspects of the episode: prophecy and guilt, competence of the clergy and control of the sacred, local political factions, melancholy, the religious orders and the roman inquisition. But all the witnesses share the jurisdictional meaning of the wonder, which implies the creation of a sacred and henceforth an ecclesiastical space. A specific object, a lamp, is therefore designed to mark the juridical nature of this space which changes the status of the charitable institution, transforming its inner space in a space of immunity. This tension helps us to analyse the episode at the topographical level, linking this jurisdictional transformation to the conflicts which marked the urban space of Asti at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

L’article aborde l’étude des procédures de généralisation à partir des conditions de production de sources dans la société d’Ancien Régime. L’imbrication des juridictions et une culture ...juridique de la possession donnent lieu à des transcriptions visant à la légitimation des pratiques des acteurs sociaux. Cette approche conduit à proposer une nouvelle interprétation de la confrérie du Saint-Esprit, une association à base territoriale et segmentaire qui gaspillait ses modestes revenus en nature en banquets traditionnels de la Pentecôte. Si on lit ces associations à l’échelle topographique et si on les met en relation avec la morphologie polycentrique et fragmentaire des villages, on s’aperçoit que ce type de confrérie était utilisé par des populations alpines du Piémont du XVIII
e
siècle pour la « production de lieux ». À travers les pratiques de la charité et le langage du droit commun, les confréries du Saint-Esprit institutionnalisaient les relations entre proches et contrôlaient les relations sociales dans une région caractérisée par la migration saisonnière. Pour ses membres, la confrérie constituait le moyen de généraliser la singularité d’une organisation institutionnelle et sociale.
Abstract
The article studies procedures of generalization starting from the processes of production of Old Regime documentation. Most of it was produced through the transcription of social practices by intertwining jurisdictions in order to legitimate specific social actors. This methodological stance leads to reinterpret the fraternities of the Holy Spirit of a Piedmontese valley in 18th century as a territorial and segmentary body rather than the matrix of the rural commune. Their traditional Whitsun banquets may be read as elements of the process of “production of locality” expressed through the practices of charity and the language of Continental common law. If we analyse them at the topographical scale and if we put them in relationship with the polycentric and fragmentary structure of the villages, the fraternities can be understood as means to institutionalise the relationships between the hamlets’ neighbours and to control larger social relations by a population marked by seasonal migration. In this light, the fraternities allowed their members to claim the legitimacy of their local relationships, and henceforth to generalize them without abstracting them from the world of practices.
