Abstract Coalition politics is gaining critical attention across the social sciences, and in feminist studies more precisely, since it promises a feasible solution to social issues for scholars ...concerned with social justice. Such political alliances with an emphasis on the feminist concept of sisterhood have proved a gateway to female freedom. However, while the merit of sisterhood is recognized mostly in terms of women in conflict with male tyranny, the feminist political agenda advanced through empowering women as best friends, supporters, and benefactors is less understood. Focusing on Sefi Atta’s Everything Good Will Come (2005), this paper advances intimate and political associations as proactive ways through which feminist partnership-building is attained, stressing women in rapport with themselves rather than in struggle with men as the hallmark of feminist desire, purpose, and politics.

Acute febrile illness in children is frequently treated with antibiotics. However, the inappropriate use of antibiotics has led to the emergence of multidrug-resistant pathogens.
We measured use of ...antibiotics for fever in 4 pediatric cohorts that were part of the Surveillance for Enteric Fever in India (SEFI) network. In this network, 24 062 children were followed up weekly, capturing information on fever and other morbidity between October 2017 and December 2019.
An antibiotic was given in 27 183 of the 76 027 (35.8%) episodes of fever. The incidence of fever-related antibiotic use was 58.0 (95% confidence interval CI, 57.2-58.6) per 100 child-years. The median time to initiation of antibiotics was 4 days, and in 65% of those who received an antibiotic it was initiated by the second day. Antibiotics were continued for <3 days in 24% of the episodes. Higher temperature, younger age, male sex, joint family, higher education, internet access, and availability of personal conveyance were associated with antibiotic treatment for fever.
In developing countries where antibiotic use is not regulated, broad-spectrum antibiotics are initiated early, and often inappropriately, in febrile illness. Frequent and inappropriate use of antibiotics may increase risk of antimicrobial resistance.

We review ionizing radiation effects in Flash memories, the current dominant technology in the commercial non-volatile memory market. A comprehensive discussion of total dose and single event effects ...results is presented, concerning both floating gate cells and peripheral circuitry. The latest developments, including new findings on the mechanism underlying upsets due to heavy ions and destructive events, are illustrated.
Of Sefi Atta's expanding oeuvre, which includes Swallow, A Bit of Difference, News from Home: Short Stories, Lawless and Other Stories, and Everything Good Will Come, centralizes the debate over the ...female body more than any other precisely because it demonstrates the extent to which some women's introjection of society's models of bodies affirms that the body is never a neutral object, but one that exists within a sphere of patriarchal power. yet, an evaluation of this novel's engagement with the body is often missing from its rich corpus of criticism. Its general reception as feminist text tends to concentrate on the patriarchal repression and social devaluation of women. The initial violence of rape that structures the plot of the novel looms so large that other subject matters escape visibility, especially the relentless microaggression that the protagonist experiences for not possessing society's idealized body. The fact that other issues tend to become marginalized does not imply that the rape is not crucial to the criticism of the text but that its connection to other pertinent issues, such as sexual objectification, microaggression, and trauma, should also enjoy sustained critical attention.
This article presents a platform and design appr- oach for enabling radiation-tolerant deep learning acceleration on static random access memory (SRAM)-based 20-nm Kintex UltraScale ...field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), for terrestrial and high-radiation environments. The presented platform is suitable for deep neural network (DNN) implementations with an emphasis on image classification and includes the solutions to mitigate both radiation-induced single-event functional interrupts (SEFIs) and network datapath corruptions. The radiation-tolerant deep learning platform combines Xilinx's deep learning processing unit (DPU) IP, triple modular redundancy (TMR) MicroBlaze soft processor IP, and soft error mitigation (SEM)-IP to mitigate SEFIs. Furthermore, a technique known as fault aware training (FAT) was applied to effectively mitigate single-event effects in the datapath. Test results from a high-energy proton beam (<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">> </tex-math></inline-formula>60 MeV) experiment using the ResNet-18 convolutional neural network (CNN) for image classification are presented. The single-event upset (SEU) rate, system-level SEFI rate, and neural network classification/datapath performance are compared between the radiation-tolerant platform and a standard, nonmitigated approach. Results show that datapath classification errors dominate the system response (90%) versus SEFIs (10%). When compared to standard nonmitigated training techniques, the radiation-tolerant platform using FAT methods shows dramatic improvements in overall system response: the overall single-event cross Section was reduced by half and 40% reduction in misclassification errors was observed. Also, datapath events with classification accuracy degradation larger than 5% were completely mitigated. The SEFI rate was reduced by <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">100\times </tex-math></inline-formula> with implemented solutions and can be further reduced by optimizing the physical separation between TMR modules.
This article mainly focuses on the single event function interruption (SEFI) and single event latch-up (SEL) of 90 nm NOR flash memories. Devices were irradiated by ions with different linear energy ...transfer (LET) values from 12.9 to <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">65.8~MeV\cdot cm^{2} </tex-math></inline-formula>/mg. SEFI observed in the device is further divided into bit SEFI, column SEFI, and sector SEFI by severity of data corruption. Under irradiation with low LET value ions, SEL propagation-like phenomena were observed in this work, which was recognized as the process from local latch-up to global latch-up in the peripheral circuits. The underlying mechanisms for SEFI and SEL in NOR flash are discussed. Results indicate that the radiation-induced transient current should be responsible for SEFI, and different forms of SEFI depend on in which part of the circuit that transient current occurred. Besides, SEL in NOR flash is considered to be triggered from the peripheral circuits.
