This scientific monograph ('Wars in the Territory of Slovenia. Testimonies, Memories, and Images') examines the life of the civilian population in Slovenia in times of war. Although most of its ...authors are not historians they frequently encounter testimonies of suffering, wartime events, and post-war developments during their research of the dwelling culture, folk creativity, urban life, the family, and the village community. In the course of their work they have discovered a number of records, memoirs, diaries, photographs, letters as well as lesser-known stories about the life of the civilian population in Slovenia, particularly from the interwar period. The first four papers examine the life during the First World War~different destinies of Slovene families~the devastation of Vipavska Dolina~and famine, deprivation, and hardship on the front, all of which are also reflected in Slovene military folk songs. The following two articles deal with the fate of Jewish families in Prekmurje and with the civilian life in Goričko during the Second World War. The last contribution looks at Slovenes in the 16th and the 17th century during military conflicts in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Gorizia and its vicinity.
As a result of opening of internal borders within the EU and rapid development of affordable navigation technology, there is a constantly increasing number of people in the Mediterranean who have ...adopted a lifestyle that revolves around living working and traveling on sailing boats. On the ground of ethnography among liveaboards in Greece the book discusses the following questions: How can we conceptualise these novel forms of movements that seem to sit uncomfortably in between the standard dichotomized division of work within migration studies and wider social sciences: internal/international migration, temporary/permanent, migration/tourism? How do we theoretically and methodologically situate these individuals that are statistically often invisible and seem to evade the common categories of describing a mobile person, such as migrant or tourist? In order to answer these questions, the author explores ethnographically the connection between the maritime environment, sea imaginaries and lifestyle migration. It puts forward six crew portraits in order to highlight details from individuals’ lives on a longer time perspective but also to place the individual stories, sea imaginaries and people’s experiences with the maritime environment in dialogue with each other. This makes it possible to better understand the expectations, aspirations and experiences of maritime lifestyle migrants and to discuss further the idea of temporarily unbelonging in practice.
The scientific monograph (' Late Gothic winged altar of St. Cross of Kojsko (1515) and life in the Brda region of the 16th century') is dedicated to the 500 th anniversary of the unique late Gothic ...winged altar which dates back to 1515. The anniversary has offered numerous opportunities to illuminate the importance of this medieval cultural monument, which boasts not only Goriška Brda, but all Slovenia. Individual contributions in the book deal with the broader historical and social context of life in the Brda region of the 16th century.
Besedilo poskuša odpreti razmišljanje o učenju v obdobju žalovanja ...in dodati drobec k razumevanju učenja kot vseživljenjskega procesa. S pomočjo analize življenjskih zgodb ugotavljamo, kako se posamezniki spreminjajo ob doživljanju smrti. Učenje poteka na telesni, duševni in duhovni ravni. Ljudje spreminjajo svoje odnose in vrednote. Pripovedovanje življenjske zgodbe ni le raziskovalna metoda, temveč je tudi odkrivanje samega sebe, kar omogoča spreminjanje samega sebe in samovzgojo.
This paper provides a discussion about the relevance of medical terminology within the social work context. The authors use the example of dual diagnoses to argue for less stigmatised attitudes ...toward people who become, in the process of help, labelled as people with dual diagnoses. It sets out that using medical terminology in the field of social work is more often a strategy to exclude people from the system of help than as a moment of providing adequate help. It is concluded that social workers do not need the knowledge about diagnoses - knowing the diagnosis is important only as information that illustrates users' specific experience and perception of reality, the available resources and obstacles that people face in their everyday life. The planning of a social work intervention should be based on an operational definition of everyday life, e.g. how people live through the day, what are the important and valued roles they play in life, what are their wishes and needs.
This paper explores the problems caused by human impact with settlements and infrastructure in the surface water bodies, especially in potential flood plans. Moreover, the principles and obligations ...of the EU Flood Directive (2007/60/EC), which supplements the Water Frame Directive, are discussed. The principles and obligations of this directive have been introduced in Slovenia by local legislation: Decree on conditions and limitations for constructions and activities on flood risk areas (OG RS, No. 89/2008) and Rules on methodology to define flood risk areas and erosion areas connected to floods and classification of plots into risk classes (OG RS, No. 60/2007). Some features and obligations of state-ofthe-art hydraulic mathematical models for surface water dynamics simulation are described. Several problems encountered in developing the models and simulating problems are described; these involve using temporarily available geodetic data of the river beds and flood plans and some suggestions for improving of the modelling are made.
