The ESCP disappointing results, the scarce interconnection between Reg. 861/2007, ADR legislation and Directives 2019/2161 and 2020/1828, as well as the suboptimal functioning of the ODR platform ...urge for a global rethinking. The Author points out some possible interventions to implement consumers’ and users’ protection in relation to small and homogenous claims, hoping that the European Institutions will soon consider a reform aimed at establishing an online integrated justice service in which court procedures merge with mechanisms of amicable solution.
'If ever there was a book calculated to make a man in love with its author, this appears to me to be the book.'
William Godwin, the author's future husband, was not alone in admiring Letters written ...during a short residence in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, Wollstonecraft's most popular book during her lifetime. Not easy to categorize, it is both an arresting travel book and a moving exploration of her personal and political selves. Wollstonecraft set out for Scandinavia just two weeks after her first suicide attempt, on a mission from the lover whose affections she doubted, to recover his silver
on a ship that had gone missing. With her baby daughter and a nursemaid, she travelled across the dramatic landscape and wrote sublime descriptions of the natural world, and the events and people she encountered. What emerges most vividly is Wollstonecraft's courage and ability to look beyond her own
suffering to the turmoil around her in revolutionary Europe, and a better future.
This edition includes further material on the silver ship, Wollstonecraft's personal letters to Imlay during her trip, an extract from Godwin's memoir, and a selection of contemporary reviews.

The present study aims at extracting the fossil database www.paleodb.org to compare extinct megafauna genera, Mammuthus Brookes, 1828 and Mammut Blumenbach, 1799 along with its close reletive, ...Zygolophodon (Vacek, 1877). Taxon count indicated 9 species for the former genus, and a dozen species for the latter two genera taken together. Mammuthus scored higher than Mammut and Zygolophodon in occurrences. They were found in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa but additionally, Mammuthus was found in South America as well. As two families diverged about 27 m years ago, these differences are important.
This study analyzes American presidential campaign posters from 1828 to 2012 using the Functional Theory of Political Campaign Discourse. It advances the theory by investigating a hitherto unexplored ...medium, posters; more importantly, visual elements (e.g., the bald eagle) were analyzed along with words. Acclaims were more frequent than attacks; no difference occurred in the functions of early and recent posters. Visual symbols used acclaims even more than verbal symbols. Character was a more frequent topic than policy; the relative proportion of these two topics did not change over time. Visual symbols discussed character even more than verbal symbols.
A biography of the American Gilbert Imlay (c 1754 - c 1828), revolutionary war veteran - and infamous lover of Mary Wollstonecraft. It also highlights how Imlay unwittingly acted as an intermediary ...between figures of greater significance, whose ideas, ambitions and schemes he frequently borrowed and disseminated across the Atlantic and continents.
Jeffersonians in Power Freeman, Joanne B; Neem, Johann N; Lewis, James E., Jr

In the 1790s, the Jeffersonian Republicans were the party of "no." They opposed attempts to expand the government's role in society, criticized the Washington administration's national bank, railed ...against a standing army, and bemoaned the spirit of the Federalist regime, which, they claimed, favored elite over ordinary Americans.
Accordingly, Thomas Jefferson asserted that his election as President in 1801 was a "revolution": with Jeffersonians in power, the government could be stripped down in size and strength. But there was a paradox at the heart of this image. Maintaining the security, stability, and prosperity of the republic required aggressive statecraft, and as a result, Jeffersonians deployed state power to reduce taxes and the debt, enforce a shipping embargo, go to war, and ultimately to support a national bank during Madison's administration.
This book explores the logic and logistics of Jeffersonian statesmanship. Focusing on Jeffersonian Republican statecraft in action,Jeffersonians in Power maps the meeting place of ideology and policy as Jeffersonians shifted from being an oppositional party to exercising power as the ruling coalition.
