The purpose of this study is to identify the usage status of self-regulation strategies at Science and Art Centers (BILSEMs) that provide the gifted students with education in Turkey. This research ...was designed within qualitative study and survey model was used. It was conducted with 24 teachers at Science and Art Centers each in the Western Black Sea, Marmara and Aegean regions in Turkey. The teacher interview form designed by the researchers was used as the data collection instrument. Descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were used for analyzing the data. It was concluded in the research that the teachers do not find themselves competent about self-regulation strategies. The most observed self-regulation deficiencies among BILSEM students are deficiencies of motivation and meta-cognitive strategies. The teachers think that BILSEM curricula do not aim to bring self-regulation skills to students. It was determined that the activities performed by teachers in BILSEM curricula (Adaptation, Supportive Education, Realizing Individual Abilities, Improving Special Skills, and Project) are rather for actualizing motivation, meta-cognitive and cognitive strategies.

Background: Retention in care is important for optimal treatment outcomes and effective positive prevention. Reports from India and other countries have mentioned various factors affecting retention ...but the data on 'opting out' from Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) under the National AIDS Control Programme are scanty. Aim and Objectives: To estimate prevalence and predictors for opting out from Antiretroviral Treatment among HIV infected individuals attending ART center at ICMR-National AIDS Research Institute, Pune. Material and Methods: In this retrospective study, records of individuals taking ART between January 2006 and May 2017 were reviewed. An individual who no longer wished to continue treatment with the national programme because of his/her personal choice and stopped visiting the centre was reported as being 'opted out' from the programme. Results: Of the total 3842 individuals ever initiated on ART, 115 (3%) individuals opted out. The possibility of opting out from ART was 4.9 95% CI: 1.78-13.6, (p=0.002) times more in individuals who showed declining trend in their CD4 counts and 8.8 95% CI: 3.33-23.27,(p<0.001) times more in individuals who received treatment for less than a year. Sixty four (56%) opted out individuals could not be contacted telephonically. Of the 51 (44%) individuals that were contacted, 16 replied that they will visit the clinic as per their convenience. The reasons for opting out from ART in remaining 35 patients were inconvenience for coming to the clinic in terms of distance or financial issues (13), taking treatment from private sector (10), side effects of the drugs (5), death (4) and taking treatment from other government programme clinics (3). Conclusion: Efforts should be taken to address the issues of individuals not willing to continue ART from the programme clinics (opted out). The counseling should be strengthened to prevent the individuals opting out from the treatment. The national operational guidelines for ART services need to address the issues of these individuals so that they can be brought back into the programme.
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the view of gifted school teachers on educating the preschool-aged gifted and talented students. Study is grounded as a case-study which is a method in ...qualitative research area. Data is collected with semi-structured interview questions from 10 different gifted school teachers working in Balikesir, Turkey. Three different questions were posed during semi-structured interviews to clearly introduce the view of teachers. According to analysis results; it was achieved that all participants believe the necessity of an education for gifted and talented students starting from the preschool age. Beside this necessity, teachers were emphasized that given education should be supported with a proper curriculum, physical structure (buildings & classes, science & art materials etc.) and improved knowledge (in the field of educating preschool aged gifted and talented students) of the teachers. When the responses of teachers for 3 different questions were assessed, teachers which are working for the education of gifted and talented students(out of preschool age) are affirming their opinions that the education for the gifted and talented students should be started to given in preschool age.

AbstractThe irregular shape of three large balconies in a performing arts center resulted in areas at the balcony tip and edge susceptible to potentially annoying levels of vibration. To mitigate ...this effect, the building designers added tuned mass dampers to the underside of each of the three balconies. Proper implementation of tuned mass dampers requires reliable information about the dynamic properties of the structural system. Finite-element models of the structure were constructed and experimentally verified. These models were used to determine the size, frequency, and damping ratio of three tuned mass dampers, two of which targeted the first bending mode of the edge and the remaining one targeted the first bending mode of the tip, for each balcony. The suspensions of the tuned mass dampers were made up of two laminar flow viscous damping units along with eight precompressed helical steel springs. The mass of the tuned dampers were selected as a small percentage of the modal mass of the modes targeted for damping. On completion of the tuned mass dampers installation, the effectiveness of the damping solution was evaluated via further testing.
Open to the public since 1993, Casa da Cerca-Contemporary Art Center, a cultural institution supervised by the Municipality of Almada and housed in an old eighteenth century leisure estate, was a ...personal project of painter Rogério Ribeiro. The initial program of researching and dissemination of the history and practice of Drawing and of its contemporary use, remains to this day. Loved by some, criticized by others, and permanently debated within the institution, this function is constantly updated by a team that, while cherishing the initial idea, has focused on involving visitors, creating a privileged relationship that sees rising loyal and diverse audiences. This article provides the testimony of a biographical and participatory project — which has hitherto received the scant attention of two dissertations on museology and tourism — and to evoke some of the various strategies used by Casa da Cerca to relate to its entourage and audiences, through its programming, on the 20th anniversary of its cultural activity.
