The article is based on the study of population dynamics in the rural area of the Banat Mountains. The study period ranged from 1993 to 2016. The aim of the paper was to observe the numerical ...evolution of the population and to make calculations on the evolution of some demographic indicators. Demographic indicators such as the natality, mortality, natural growth, natural, migratory movement and migratory growth of communes have been analyzed over the period mentioned. A first objective was to physically and then administratively delineate the Banat Mountains. The second objective was to obtain the necessary numerical data, then to process the data for each indicator. Data processing resulted in a series of indicator rates, and in addition, graphs were developed with the numerical evolution of newborns and deaths. The numerical data on the number of newborns and deaths were taken from the website of the National Institute of Statistics. There have been introduced in the Microsoft Excel 2013 program a few graphs. Also, through Microsoft Excel 2013, rates for demographic indicators were calculated, and then the results obtained were introduced into Arc Gis version 10.3. Finally, a series of maps on the territorial distribution of values for each indicator was generated.
The issue of otherness in the social construction of ethnicities and rural multiculturalism has long attracted the attention of scholars. By following a postcolonial background, this paper ...investigates the social construction of Roma as 'other' in a multicultural landscape (the Romania-Serbia border) using interviews with participants of different ethnic groups. This paper addresses the following questions: (i) Is the Roma population in this area completely spatially segregated? (ii) How do different kinds of prejudice against Roma operate within this multicultural context? (iii) How does discrimination against the Roma interface with power relations, in particular political power in the area? The findings indicate that, alongside ethno-nationalist racism, Roma face prejudice from apparently more 'progressive' groups, who accept multiculturalism, yet blame the Roma for their own disadvantaged social and economic position on the grounds of a failure to integrate that is pictured as 'backward'.
To improve global performance, every economic agent within the tourism industry must react to the evolution of all aspects related to the tourism potential and must be aware of their significance. ...Research conducted falls under this logic and contributes to enriching the information corresponding to the means through which the forms of tourism practiced in the Banat mountainous region might influence the increase in the area’s tourist potential quality. The theme selected aligns with the area of high interest with reference to familiarizing with and highlighting tourist resources and destinations in Romania for both the academic and economic environment.
The current study explains the hydrochemical processes controlling the variance in the hydrochemical facies for eighteen samples obtained from the study area. The groundwater samples were analyzed ...for the major ions "cations and anions" data in mg/l, total dissolved solids (TDS) in mg/l, electrical conductivity (EC) in μS/cm, pH unit less, and temperature in °C. Piper trilinear (three-line) diagram indicates the overall of samples belong to class 1 (Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, SO42-), category I (SO42- - Cl- and Ca2+ - Mg2+) and permanent total hardness (calcium chloride type). The contribution of cations in the study area was different percentages (dominant cation sodium (Na+)), while the sulfate (SO42-) is the dominant ion of the groundwater in the study area. The analytical values showed that overall the samples were brackish water and high enrichment salts within the impermissible limits of the World Health Organization standards. Irrigation parameters and water quality index were calculated for samples to assess water for agricultural and drinking uses for the inhabitants of the study area. The basic exchange is the exchange of sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+) ions in water with magnesium (Mg2+) and calcium (Ca2+) ions in materials which are exposed to weathering.
The object of this article is to preliminary present the rescue archaeological excavations prior to the construction of the Arad-Timişoara Highway, conducted in 2010 on-site B_06. The investigated ...area is located on the Arad-Seceani highway section, in the km 15+490-15+780 stretch. The field research concluded the site was a large settlement lying both on the highway route as well as to its west and east. The archaeological investigations carried out within the area of site B0_6 and the perimeter limits of the highway route identified and comprehensively examined 132 stratigraphic units, of which three are Sarmatian inhumations. Of the total researched features, 106 were discovered in the northern half of the investigated area, while the three graves, together with another feature, lay midway through the project area. The inhumations lay isolate from the 106 features from the northern side of the investigated area, but also from the 22 located southward as well. The 106 features belong to a Dacian settlement broadly dated to the 2nd – early 3rd century AD, while the graves date to late 2nd – first decades of the 3rd century AD, the features discovered in the southern half of the investigated area belonging to another chronological and cultural level (the 4th – 5th century AD).
Among Banat cities, Caransebeş comes into attention as a centre of Romanian culture and spirituality. Lived by Romanian people, the city and its neighbourhoods have passed through the vicissitudes of ...the history keeping pure the authentic of the area. Since the second half of the XIXth century, after the re-foundation of Caransebeş Diocese, national and cultural flag have been kept with care by the clergyman of the institution and the professor who contributed to the formation of the priests and teachers that, at their turn, contributed to the spread of religious feeling and alphabetization of the majority of Banat villages. In this town where also the most important personalities that contributed to the Great Union and later development of the province lived. All of these allows us to consider Caransebeş as the historical capital of Banat culture and spirituality.
The German-language Socialist Press in Banat in the Interwar Years; Case Study: Volkswille (the People's Will) and Banater Arbeiter-Presse (Banat Workers' Press). This study analyses the development ...and characteristics of these two socialist newspapers from Banat in a period when the number of German publications was at its peak and the German minority press played a very important role for its readers. The text focuses on the content particularities of the publications with an emphasis on the dedication and commitment of the editors and journalists to inform, educate and support the readership through their articles.
The present paper aims to bring forward new insights regarding the early medieval age in the Banat region of Romania. The main subject of our paper revolves around a grave discovered during the 2016 ...archaeological research of the “Cociohatu Mic” site located near the village of Dudeștii Vechi, Timiș County, Romania. The grave, as well as the grave goods were poorly preserved, still a few competent conclusions could still be drawn after analyzing the funerary inventory.
The Paleolithic sites Româneşti and Coşava, situated at the foothills of the Banat Mountains in Romania, provide an important testament of life of the first European modern humans (Homo sapiens ...sapiens) during Middle Pleniglacial. Even though these sites have been extensively excavated, little is known about the site formation of related loess-like sediments and soils. First luminescence data at the two investigated sections confirm sediments from the penultimate glacial period to the Holocene.
Assigning the levels of findings is difficult, because the sediments are close to the surface and are overprinted by recent soil development. Albeluvisols, influenced by stagnic features, are the typical surface soils in the study area and on comparable morphological positions in the region. Laboratory analysis has revealed that this soil has a complex genesis from hydrolysis weathering, which is connected with the development of a fragic soil horizon, overprinting the major find horizons at both sites. By using sedimentological and geochemical methods in combination, this study aims to reconstruct sedimentary evolution and soil processes at the sites, as well as to evaluate the state of preservation and the actual content of the archeological contexts.
Initial results indicate hints for a forest step and higher vegetation during MIS 3 at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in the Western Plain of Romania. These natural factors offer a local attractiveness of the region which could be the most important reason for the occurrence of first Anatomically Modern Humans. Our investigations lend a better understanding of the paleoenvironment as well as a first age control of Paleolithic levels for the region.
