Undeniably, the theoretical foundations of public speaking comprise ancient Greek and Roman rhetorical approaches. The major Chinese philosophical schools are not considered to have valued public speaking skills. Compared to Western rhetoric, Chinese rhetoric emphasizes writing more than speaking. However, given proper transformation, contemporary presentation performance can be improved by deploying key points from ancient Chinese rhetoric, such as the way of looking at public speaking, the enhancement of speaker credibility, the analysis of the audience, and the skills of organizing a speech.
