Mit atemberaubender Geschwindigkeit erobern die neuen Technologien auch das Arbeitsfeld Museum: Multimedia in der Ausstellungsgestaltung, CD-ROM, Datenbanken, Netzwerke und das Internet setzen einen ...neuen Informations- und Kommunikationsstandard. Die Autoren des vorliegenden Bandes setzen sich vor dem Hintergrund ihrer praktischen Erfahrung mit einer Vielzahl von relevanten Fragen zu diesem Thema auseinander und tragen hierdurch dazu bei, dass Mitarbeiter von Museen und anderen Kultur-Einrichtungen die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der digitalen Medien bei ihrer Arbeit in Zukunft realistisch einschätzen können.

Apesar de rara, a ocorrência de lesão ocular devido à explosão acidental de disco compacto pode ser responsável por graves lesões no globo ocular. No presente artigo é relatado caso de perfuração ...corneana com trauma cristaliniano causado pela quebra intencional de disco compacto. Trata-se de paciente com 44 anos, sexo feminino, médica, avaliada em caráter de urgência com queixas de BAV, fotofobia, lacrimejamento e sensação de corpo estranho no OD, iniciados após presenciar quebra intencional de disco compacto. Apresentava perfuração corneana central, com sinal de Seidel positivo e lesão de cápsula anterior do cristalino com opacificação cortical anterior subjacente. A AV corrigida no OD era de 0,1. Tratada com lente de contato hidrofílica terapêutica e instilações tópicas regulares de solução antibiótica e hipotensora ocular, evoluiu com cicatrização da lesão corneana e estabilização da opacidade do cristalino. Decorridos 24 meses do trauma, sua refração encontrava-se semelhante aos valores prévios ao acidente e a acuidade visual era de 1,0 (-1).
Abstract: Lexicographers increasingly acknowledge the enormous potential of electronic dictionaries. The great capacity and speed characteristic of electronic products, combined with enhanced query ...and data retrieval technology, pave the way to a new generation of dictionaries unimagined in the paper-dictionary era. It is amazing to see how many of the lexicographer's greatest obstacles disappear in the electronic dictionary. This article will, firstly, attempt to give a perspective on typical features of electronic dictionaries. Secondly, electronic-dictionary entries will be designed as a solution to some of the most burning lemmatization problems encountered by lexicographers for African languages in paper dictionaries.

Opsomming: Die samestelling van elektroniese woordeboeke vir dieAfrikatale. Leksikograwe erken in toenemende mate die enorme moontlikhede van elektroniesewoordeboeke. Die groot vermoë en spoed wat kenmerkend is van elektroniese produkte,tesame met die bykomende tegnologie van soektogte en dataopsporing, berei die weg voor na 'nnuwe generasie woordeboeke wat ondenkbaar was in die era van gedrukte woordeboeke. Dit isverbasend om te sien hoeveel van die leksikograaf se grootste struikelblokke verdwyn in die elektroniesewoordeboek. Hierdie artikel sal eerstens probeer om 'n oorsig te gee oor die kenmerkendeeienskappe van elektroniese woordeboeke. Tweedens sal inskrywings vir die elektroniese woordeboekontwerp word as oplossing vir sommige van die dringendste lemmatiseringsprobleme watleksikograwe van Afrikatale by gedrukte woordeboeke teëkom.

The close interaction between linguistics and lexicography over the last few decades has had many good effects, not least of which has been the development of a theoretical framework or meta ...lexicography. However, this close link has had an unfortunate result: the marginalisation in the theoretical debate of nonlinguistic dictionaries and especially of the encyclopaedia. In this article, semantic, lexicographical and pragmatic motivations will be given for a renewed interest in encyclopaedias. The revolution caused by CD-ROM encyclopaedias and the benefits they hold for a large spectrum of users, will be the most important pragmatic motivations addressed. Microsoft Encarta 99 Encyclopedia will act as a guide for the exploration of the impact this revolution has had on the ideas of user-friendliness and dictionary accessibility. Finally, a future is envisioned in which the Internet will be the logical culmination of the ultimate potential of computers as accessible, user-friendly reference tools.
This presentation, on both printed copy and CD-ROM, summarizes a series of original data on the ultrastructure of human reproduction produced by our research group. In particular, female germ cell ...behaviour at the time of migration and colonization of the gonad and germ-somatic cell interactions inside the developing ovary are reviewed from a morphodynamic point of view. The results mostly consist of black-and-white transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM) images. Artificially coloured SEM pictures, light microscopy images and drawings have also been selected for iconography to render complex microanatomical details and their morphofunctional relationships more comprehensible. In all, 35 images are presented in this article, each related to a concise text section and accompanied by a self-explaining caption. A list of pertinent references is also provided. On November 2, 2004, California voters elected to radically expand their state criminal DNA database through the passage of Proposition 69. The approved ballot initiative authorized DNA collection ...and retention from all felons, any individuals with past felony convictions – including juveniles – and, beginning in 2009, all adults arrested for any felony offense. This dramatic database expansion threatens civil liberties and establishes a dangerous precedent for U.S. criminal databases.
