This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis, classification, and segmentation of Gujarati conjuncts, with the aim of providing a deeper understanding of the intricate conjuncts in the Gujarati script. The study investigates the coverage area and joining patterns of conjuncts to categorize them based on their distinct structural properties. The coverage area refers to the spatial extent of a conjunct and is classified into three categories: full box, upper half box, and lower half box characters. The joining patterns offer insights into how consonants are connected or merged within a conjunct, including possibilities such as horizontal lines, curves. Accurate segmentation of conjuncts is crucial for retrieving their constituent components. This paper also discusses a segmentation algorithm that considers information from neighboring pixels, as well as the joining patterns and coverage area of conjuncts. The research study incorporates 728 frequently used handwritten conjuncts of the Gujarati script. Experimental analysis is conducted on a substantial dataset of 45,000 conjuncts. The experimental results demonstrate that conjuncts falling into the lower half box category or those connected with a horizontal line or a curve exhibit the highest success rate of over 85%. Furthermore, statistical analysis reveals that the success rate remains consistent and comparable across the various character groups, providing further support for the findings.
Drawing upon a vast literature in psychoanalytic journals either on Shakespeares characters, or alluding to them in the course of other topics, this book discusses eight of Shakespeares plays, and ...the relationships between the main characters in them. Psychoanalytic and literary approaches sometimes diverge, but they can also concur in seeing those characters as true-to-life examples of different psychological states and types of relating; or as symbolic aspects of the personality. The chapters contain many references from Freud onwards, and reflect many different opinions, some questionable, some convincing; the characters examined will surely ring bells in the reader. The book is relevant therefore to counsellors and therapists, but also to those interested in literature and Shakespearean studies. Written for the thinking lay person, it does not blind the reader with psychoanalytic terminology and concepts, but uses them deftly to observe some of the emotions and conflicts to which we are all to some extent prey.
Reinforcement learning offers a promising methodology for developing skills for simulated characters, but typically requires working with sparse hand-crafted features. Building on recent progress in ...deep reinforcement learning (DeepRL), we introduce a mixture of actor-critic experts (MACE) approach that learns terrain-adaptive dynamic locomotion skills using high-dimensional state and terrain descriptions as input, and parameterized leaps or steps as output actions. MACE learns more quickly than a single actor-critic approach and results in actor-critic experts that exhibit specialization. Additional elements of our solution that contribute towards efficient learning include Boltzmann exploration and the use of initial actor biases to encourage specialization. Results are demonstrated for multiple planar characters and terrain classes.
Abstract
An automatic system based on “Digital Image Processing” technology is developed using MATLAB tool to recognize the vehicle by identifying the license plate. A database is linked to the ...MATLAB processor, which takes input as the detected number plate. Information about the owner is extracted and electronic format of the challan is generated if the number plate is in wrong format. Also in case of theft or crime, the required number plate is fed to the database system and if it is matched with the detected number plate, an alert is generated. The captured image is in RGB format which is converted into grey scale. Here theories and techniques used to identify the area and Edge detector operators is used to measure threshold values to get the dilated image. After that flood fill operation can be used to stuff the wholes to get a fine binary picture. The fundamental steps to identify the vehicle license plate and plate size, then the partitioned picture is amplified with gray scale only to get the license plate of vehicle. Afterwards the template matching process done to match the image from license plate and template’s picture, thus the number plate detected is then matched with one stored in the database system to get complete information of the vehicle owner. Adult attachment influences how people engage with stories, in terms of how immersed or transported they become into these narratives and the tendency to form close bonds with characters. This likely ...stems from the ability of stories and story characters to provide interpersonal intimacy without the threat of rejection. In Study 1, we expand on this work to examine how attachment relates to two previously uninvestigated aspects of character engagement: character identification and parasocial interactions. Taking a statistically conservative approach, controlling for broader traits, we demonstrate that the attachment dimensions of anxiety and avoidance differentially predict these forms of character engagement. A high-powered, pre-registered, Study 2 follows up on these results by examining the types of characters that are most appealing, based on one’s attachment orientation. Together, these studies demonstrate that attachment plays an essential role in both how we engage with characters and the types of characters to whom we are attracted.
The chemical recovery of a defaced serial number is a common forensic science practice, however it is not understood how proficient experts perform in correctly identifying recovered serial numbers. ...Understanding the accuracy of experts and how they compare to novices in character recognition can help to establish a baseline for this expertise. In this study an expert-novice comparison assessment was completed involving 118 test plates, each stamped with six randomised alphanumeric characters. The plates were defaced and chemically recovered before being viewed by multiple participants over six time intervals. A total of 3169 character inspections were completed. An assessment of confidence and error rates were calculated for both expert (trained) and novice (untrained) participants. Errors were counted when a participant interpreted a different character to that of the ground truth and believed the result was accurate for reporting. The results showed a similar (2.3 % and 2.4 %) error rate for the cohorts, however a statistical difference in confidence levels was recorded, demonstrating the more conservative nature of experts. This study aims to assist in validating practitioner interpretations, through addressing some forensic science criticisms, such as establishing error rates to routine scientific practices.

In this paper, by defining a new vocabulary for Jacobi theta functions, namely “spectral theta functions”, we show that how remarkably the N=2 superconformal characters are extracted by imposing a ...residue calculation on sl̂(2|1) affine Lie superalgebra characters in their non-unitary (non-trivial) cases. Therefore, to have more versatility in conformal quantum field theory context, we finalize our study by a complete prescription by which, all contents of well-known sl̂(2|1) characters could be uniquely translated to N=2 superconformal characters. In this regard, we firstly establish the key spectral theta function’s formula as well as deriving quasi-periodic and differentiation formulae of spectral theta functions. Then, both the mentioned algebraic characters in their non-unitary cases are studied to explore a relation between these algebras. Finally we come up with our residue calculation method to obtain a total reduction from sl̂(2|1) characters to N=2 characters, as a novel and applicable idea in mathematical physics.
