The article deals with increasing cross-border education, namely students from Slovenia attending upper-secondary level minority schools in Austrian Carinthia. We conducted interviews with school ...management and focus groups with students, who also completed a short questionnaire. Based on qualitative and quantitative data, we drew conclusions about the motives of students from Slovenia for enrolment in Slovene minority schools in Austria and about the consequences of their decision – their well-being, their knowledge and use of languages, their plans for the future – as well as in relation to their sense of Europeanness and their varying identities. Cross-border schooling turns out to be a success story. The outcome seems to be particularly favourable for the Slovene minority in Austrian Carinthia as it maintains the scope and quality of minority education, while also having the positive consequence of giving the members of the Slovene minority much greater exposure to the Slovene language, especially spoken language, with which they otherwise have less direct contact.
Among young adults, high rates of binge drinking were observed in certain European countries. Binge drinking is associated with several health problems (unplanned pregnancy, HIV infections, problems ...with memory, and injuries). The aim of this questionnaire-based study was to measure the frequency of binge drinking and its association with sociodemographic, familial, lifestyle factors and school performance among secondary and university students (n=2449) in Csongrád County, Hungary.
In this cross-sectional study the students' sociodemographic data, parents' educational and economic level, and students' academic performance and self-reported use of tobacco, drugs, and alcohol were collected by a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses were applied using SPSS 24.0 software.
Altogether 2449 Hungarian secondary school students and university students participated in the study. Nearly one-third of the students were classified as binge drinkers, significantly more male university students. Tobacco or illicit drug use resulted in higher odds of being a binge drinker in both subgroups. Poor school performance and binge drinking were significantly correlated especially among secondary school students.
Targeting alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug use together, including education, parent interventions, and public health policies, are crucial in the prevention of possible serious consequences.
Članek prinaša rezultate pilotne raziskave, v kateri so preučevali izkušnje učiteljev s poučevanjem dijakov migrantskega ozadja v poklicnem in strokovnem izobraževanju. Področje je v Sloveniji ...neraziskano, hkrati pa podatki kažejo, da se v ta segment izobraževanja vključuje večji delež teh dijakov v primerjavi z dijaki, opredeljenimi kot Slovenci. Rezultati nakazujejo na pomanjkljivosti na področju statističnih podatkov, kot problem se kaže obravnava dijakov migrantskega ozadja kot dijakov s posebnimi potrebami, spodbudne pa so ugotovitve o dokajšnji senzibilnosti učiteljev in njihovi veliki iznajdljivosti pri iskanju načinov vključevanja dijakov v pouk. Zdi se, da se učitelji in šole trudijo pomagati dijakom po svojih najboljših močeh, pri čemer številne možnosti udejanjanja načela interkulturnosti še zdaleč niso izčrpane. članek se končuje z razčlenjenimi predpostavkami za nadaljnje raziskovanje.

V drugem delu se ...osredotoča na prikaz ključnih ugotovitev empirične raziskave med 687 učenci in dijaki devetih slovenskih šol, ki kažejo poznavanje terminologije izseljenstva med mladimi.
Članek se osredotoča na problematiko vključevanja begunskih in migrantskih otrok brez znanja nemškega jezika v nemški šolski sistem. Obravnava in skuša odgovoriti na vprašanje, kako otroke najhitreje ...vključiti v šolski vsakdanjik in pri tem najti najučinkovitejši model vključevanja. Osredotoča se na vključevanje otrok v berlinske šole in poskuša predstaviti v praksi preizkušene možnosti vključevanja. Podrobno je razloženo in predstavljeno delovanje v Willkommensklasse, predstavljene so tudi posebnosti takšnega razreda. Razložena in ovrednotena sta dva koncepta Willkommensklasse, ki sta se razvila v praksi.
Nadvse uporaben slovarski portal Fran so dijakom 3. letnikov brežiške gimnazije predstavili višji znanstveni sodelavci z Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša pri ZRC SAZU ter člani Pravopisne ...komisije pri SAZU – doc. dr. Nataša Jakop, dr. Peter Weiss in doc. dr. Helena Dobrovoljc.
Dijake 4. letnikov Gimnazije Brežice smo v sklopu Toporišičevega leta na zanimiv, hudomušen in ne preveč strokoven način seznanili s posameznimi področji jezikoslovčevega delovanja. Prof. dr. Jožeta ...Toporišiča poznamo predvsem po pomembnih priročnikih in slovenskem knjižnem jeziku. Dijakom pa smo ga približali in predstavili tudi v povezavi z neknjižnim jezikom (slengom, žargonom in argojem, narečji ter pogovornim jezikom), kot zagovornika vpeljevanja novega besedišča in hkrati (upo)rabe slovenskih besed.
