This paper explains the investigation of shallow and sediment-covered areas of the Dolenjska karst discovered during the construction of the motorway section between the villages of Hrastje and ...Lešnica. Research done during construction has again proved to be very useful; we came to numerous and augmentative conclusions about the development of karst features typical of the Dolenjska region. Again the importance of the participation of karst researchers in planning major activities concerning the karst and in monitoring the work was demonstrated. We have researched the unique features of the karst surface marked mostly by large areas of stone forests and characteristic karstification below the thick sediment beds.
ESPAD survey on the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs among adolescents in the Dolenjska region Aim: The purpose of the study was to assess the prevalence of drug use in 15-16-year old students ...in the region of Dolenjska, and to identify the trends of drug use over the past four years. Methods: The target population included students born in 1991 who answered the anonymous ESPAD questionnaire. The sample was representative of students of both sexes and of all types of secondary schools. The findings were compared with the results obtained by the ESPAD survey conducted in the Dolenjska region in 2003. Results: Alcohol and tobacco were the most frequently used drugs. Sixty-one percent of 15-16-year-old students reported the use of tobacco; 7% smoked 11 or more cigarettes per day in the previous month. Ninety-five percent of respondents reported drinking alcohol beverages in their lifetime; more then a half of them experienced drunkenness; 24.5 % in the last 30 days. The prevalence of lifetime marijuana use was 17 %; the prevalence for the use of inhalants was 12 %, and for tranquillizers or sedatives obtained without a doctor's prescription, 3 %. The prevalence for the use of other illegal drugs ranged between 0.5% and 4 %. Conclusion: The use of alcohol and some illegal drugs increased over the past four years, but the proportion of students who regularly smoked tobacco decreased.
The first volume in the Slovenski pravljičarji (Slovene Storytellers) collection of monographs contains tales recounted by Anton Dremelj-Resnik from Petrušnja Vas in Dolenjska. The esteemed ...academician Milko Matičetov has pronounced Resnik the best storyteller he has encountered during his field trips in various Slovene regions prior to his research work in Resia. The material in this book encompasses a rich palette of genres from short humorous folk tales, legends, historic tales, and anecdotes to the epically evolved animal tales and tales of magic. The book is prefaced with an extensive study, written by Anja Štefan, titled O pripovedovalcu, zbiranju in objavi njegovih pripovedi (On the Storyteller and on Collecting and Publishing His Folktales). In order to be understandable for every reader, the narratives have been set on paper in a consistently simplified dialectological system of the language spoken in the region of Dolenjska.
The relatively rich set of phrasemes with the phraseological units gobec or gubica, (žvalje), usta and usta, jezik and jezik (jezičina) in Slovene Eastern Dolenjska and Croatian Neo-Štokavian Ikavian ...subdialects provides us with an incentive to enlarge the collection of dialectal phraseology. Although it is undoubtedly best that noting and recording be performed by a researcher and speaker of a dialect, this does mean that the period over which data is gathered is a protracted one. Satisfactory results can also be obtained in a much shorter time with the help of a prepared set of phrasemes (e.g. standard ones from the same or a foreign language) and by using the guided conversation method, whereby a researcher, by setting out the situation, encourages informants/dialect speakers to use and explain phrasemes. This, for example, was how phrasemes in the Eastern Dolenjska micor-dialect of Šentrupert were gathered. The semantic coverage of phrasemes in both dialects is relatively small, but the largest (almost half) with phrasemes containing the unit usta ‘mouth’. We should be careful with the partial semantic coverage of prasemes, e.g. in one meaning only (ugrizniti se v jezik (meaning 2.) / ujist (ugrist) se za jezik). With semantically covered phrasemes we must notice differences which are dependent on the phonetic, lexical and morpho-syntactical system of both languages and are therefore less important, i.e. differences in the verb component (deti : staviti, odpreti : otvoriti/otvarat, vreči : bacit and zapreti : začepit) – this can condition a different prepositional phrase (držati se okoli ust : cidit se iz usta) – or other components (otprt : otvoren, do tal : do poda).
V članku objavljamo rezultate terenskega pregleda in sondiranj najdišč na severnih pobočjih Gorjancev južno od Šentjerneja. Predstavljena je tudi analiza arhivskih virov, ki govore o izkopa-vanju ...velike poznolatenske in zgodnjerimske nekropole Hribec v Mihovem. S pomočjo skic in zapisov smo uspeli rekonstruirati načrt grobišča in ga umestiti v prostor. Raziskave so pokazale, da je bilo širše območje Mihovega neprekinjeno poseljeno skozi celo prvo tisočletje pred Kr.
This publication presents fifty-four Hallstatt necropolises from central Slovenia, which are crucial to the course of researching the settlement and social structures of the Early Iron Age. ...Topographic sources are proffered as well as all the excavated materials, among which are also unique specimens.The book is divided into three parts. The first section extends a review of the history of excavations of Hallstatt tumuli, from the very onset and all through to WWI. It is a comprehensive study of the history of archaeology in Slovenia, posing the development of museology, the heritage protection profession and the professional and scientific efforts of the then investigators. Numerous illustrations of yet unpublished documents, preserved mainly in foreign museums and archives, are incorporated in the text.The second section is dedicated to the issue of chronology and the cultural- historical evaluation of Hallstatt necropolises in the Dolenjska region, which regarding their richness easily compare with the most important of necropolises in neighboring countries. It is precisely the tumulus necropolises from the Dolenjska region that form the foundations for the concept of the southeastern Alpine Hallstatt culture, which during the first millennium BC represented one of the most developed cultures in Europe.

The burial deposits from the grave with a cuirass from tumulus 52 or IV at Stična, excavated by the Duchess of Mecklenburg in 1913, have already been published four times ...and have been differently presented each time. None of the four versions completely corresponds with the data in the notes of the Duchess’s secretary, Gustav Goldberg. Of the finds that have previously been attributed to this grave, only a cuirass, a kernos and a small pot can definitely be ascribed to it. In addition, a fluted ciborium and spearheads may derive from the grave. Two lids, two smaller ciboria and 67 dome-shaped loop-backed buttons are certainly not from this burial. The smaller ciboria and the lids are from another Stična grave, from Magdalenska gora or perhaps some other cemetery of the Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) Hallstatt culture, while the dome-shaped buttons originate from the cemetery at Stražni dol near Golek pri Vinici.Rainer-Maria Weiss ascribed a belt-plate with figurative ornament depicting a procession of men and a woman to a grave with a cuirass from tumulus 52. Biba Teržan ascribed the same belt-plate to a grave with a double-crested helmet from tumulus 55 or VI at Stična. However, the belt-plate is not from any of these graves.The grave groups of the Mecklenburg Collection are unreliable. Finds from other graves from the same or even from a different site have sometimes been added to the Hallstatt period graves from Magdalenska gora and Stična. Some are undoubtedly from the Latest Hallstatt-La Tène cemetery at Stražni dol near Golek pri Vinici (e.g. dome-shaped buttons of the Vinica type, bronze sun rings, bronze shepherd’s crook pins and amber beads of Palavestra’s types 8d and 8e).
