To attract and retain international students, institutional support services at Asian universities must add value from the student’s perspective. This study aims to explore international students’ ...experiences at Indian higher education institutions and understand their thoughts on how the university’s International Student Office (ISO) could best support them. Data was collected from 11 students. Eight participated in individual in-depth interviews and three in a small focus group discussion (international: n = 10 and non-resident Indian: n = 1). A qualitative thematic analysis was employed to extract themes that describe international student experiences and the role of the institutional support services i.e., the ISO. Grounded in the consumer value concept, this study discusses four emergent themes. These are ISO support during the stressful initial transition phase, overcoming language-related issues, mitigating cultural differences and envisaging an ISO that is organised for usage. Findings indicate that the students’ perceived value of institutional support provision is a multidimensional construct comprising attributes that capture sought-after outcomes, experiences, and interactions. This study proposes a consumer-centric framework by which international student support services at the university may offer more effectiveness and value.

This study was conducted for the purpose of evaluating the healthy lifestyle behaviors of students at the Faculty of Education. The study sample consisted of 300 students who receive education at the ...faculty of education. The "Socio-demographic features form" and "Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II (HLBS)" were used in the data collection stage of the study. The data were analyzed in the SPSS 23 environment using number, mean, percentage, analysis of variance, t-test, and correlation analysis. The Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used as nonparametric tests. In order for the study to be carried out, the ethics committee approval from Artvin Çoruh University Ethics Committee, written permission from the institution where the study was conducted, and verbal approval from the participants were obtained. According to the findings of the study, the students’ point average for the HLBS was determined as 124.86 ± 1.092 points. The healthy lifestyle behaviors of students do not differ according to gender, family type, class, smoking, alcohol use and the presence of a chronic illness. However, as the number of individuals and siblings in the family increases, the healthy lifestyle behaviors of students decrease, and as the educational level of the mother and the economic level increase, the healthy lifestyle behaviors also increase. On the other hand, the educational level of the father is not related to the healthy lifestyle behaviors of students. In the light of the results of the study, it is suggested to carry out comparative studies with wider samples that examine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of students.

This study looks into how a group of graduate research students from an Australian university created online collaborative spaces that facilitated highly productive environments for thesis writing ...during the global lockdown and travel restrictions triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Using virtual meetings and shared digital repositories, these researchers progressed through stages in their writing from the formation of research questions, developing literature review, data collection and analysis and finally writing the discussion, each working on a different topic within the broader field of education. The study found that the regular online Shut Up N Write (SUNW) sessions created the conditions that allowed these researchers not only to share their work and solicit critical feedback, but to be aware of their own learning styles. The writing sessions became a facilitative ground in which a process and genre approach to writing allowed them to work independently, yet also drawing on advice from others that provided a greater sense of belonging. Using reflective autoethnographic narratives, and by combining genre, metacognition and third space theories, the study problematises these virtual meetings as spaces of inner growth as writers who, while learning from each other, also find their own distinctive voices in developing their theses. AbstractIn a supportive and immersive environment, engaging in English extracurricular activities is crucial for university students as it enhances their language skills, cultivates valuable ...communication and teamwork abilities, and significantly alleviates their anxiety levels. This quantitative study aimed to examine the causality between the independent variable (intervention in English extracurricular activities—EECAs) and the dependent variable (learners’ anxiety levels) using the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale developed by Horwitz et al. Data were collected from a sample of 306 first-year students at a university in Vietnam through self-report surveys administered both before and after participating in EECAs. The analysis of the collected data employed descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests, revealing a causal relationship between participation in these activities and language learners’ anxiety levels. The results revealed that active involvement in extracurricular activities may reduce learners’ anxiety levels. These findings emphasize the significance of considering the potential impact of extracurricular activities on learners’ anxiety levels and call for further research and interventions to address and alleviate anxiety in language learners involved in such activities.
AbstractIndonesian researchers have published a substantial number of research articles on science education. However, there is no overarching sense of the science education research landscape in ...Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to provide such an overarching sense with respect to science education research focused on Indonesian secondary schools between 2000 and 2020. Systematic review and bibliometrics methods were used to analyse 287 papers retrieved from Scopus. The study found that the publications have drastically increased since 2017 with only a few of them published in leading science education journals. International collaborations among Indonesian science educators have included many countries, such as Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Australia, Thailand, and Canada. The most common research topics are critical thinking skills, problem-based learning, cooperative learning, HOTS, learning tools, blended learning, creative thinking skills, project-based learning, misconceptions, and lesson study, mostly researched through quantitative rather than qualitative methods. These findings are important for Indonesian science educators to assess their progress and identify areas for improvement to have a greater impact on the community. In the international context, these findings provide critical knowledge for global academics as they initiate and build international networks and collaborations to advance science education globally.
AbstractIn recent years, due to the impact of COVID-19 and the continuous improvement of the internationalization level of university education, students’ demand for internationalized learning has ...been increasing, and Internationalization at Home (IaH), has become a topic of concern. However, internationalization learning is a long-term process that requires students to maintain a strong willingness to learn over a long period of time, existing literature has not yet studied the factors that affect students’ willingness to continue learning in IaH. This paper explores the factors that affect students’ willingness to continue learning in IaH by constructing a theoretical model combining Expectation Confirmation Model and Flow Theory, so as to develop a student-centered internationalized learning model that benefits the students and promotes the development of IaH. It is found that teaching resources, teaching organizers, teaching activities, teaching technology and teaching evaluation positively influence students’ willingness to continue learning, and it is also found that the flow experience has a positive influence in IaH's willingness to continue learning. This paper contributes to IaH literature by identifying factors influencing IaH students’ learning intentions and combines Flow Theory and Expectation Confirmation Model to construct an innovative theoretical model.
