The increasing disparities between European regions constitute a great challenge for sustainable development and require identification of the factors responsible for this process. Given the ...substantive role of R&D in shaping innovativeness and economic development, understanding its dynamics and spatial patterns can provide new insights into regional growth prospects. Although prior studies have investigated the patterns of innovation convergence, apparently none has attempted to test the convergence club hypothesis in R&D expenditure in the European regional scope. Therefore, the present study aims to fill this gap. The paper aims at examining the convergence path of R&D expenditure across European regions and at identifying the factors conditioning club membership. Data were retrieved from Eurostat’s regional database and Regional Innovation Scoreboard datasets over 2008–2018. Employing a nonlinear time-varying factor model, we reveal that R&D expenditure in the examined regions follows the pattern of club convergence. The results of our research allow to identify five convergence clubs characterised by distinct disparities in the R&D expenditures. We also demonstrate that the emergence of the identified convergence clubs might be attributable to the initial differences in human capital, external knowledge embedded in patents and technological structures across regions as measured by employment in medium-high and high-tech manufacturing and knowledge-intensive services. These results provide policy implications in terms of the formulation and implementation of more tailored innovation policies, based on smart development and specialisation strategies. The presence of business R&D convergence clubs requires shifting EU policy actions towards a more sustainable model promoting both the advantages of the strongest regions and the development opportunities in less-developed ones.
In this work we use numerical simulations to investigate the potential impact of the presence of a KInSe 2 (KIS) layer on the CIGS surface due to KF post-deposition treatment (PDT). Although we focus ...on a KIS layer, due to the generality of the approach our results can be extended to other Alk-InSe 2 of similar energy gap (larger than the CIGS bandgap), since no hypotheses have been made on the layer composition except for the energy gap being large enough to make it transparent to the AM1.5G spectrum. We consider different values for the KIS electron affinity, resulting in a range of conduction band offsets with CIGS and CdS, in the case of trap-free KIS or KIS with acceptor traps. We also evaluate the effect of the KIS layer on the cell current-voltage characteristics at low temperature.
The contribution brings attention to the growing role of knowledge intensive services in the Society 4.0. Faculty of Economics of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň joined forces with the ...Institute of Technology and Economics in České Budějovice in the project “Knowledge-intensive services sector adaptation to the conditions of Society 4.0” supported by the programme ÉTA of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. This contribution summarizes the research results of the completed first phase of the project: the development of two studies focused on identification, analysis and evaluation of methods and tools for knowledge intensive services adaptation and catalogue of requirements to competencies and skills to the changing jobs. Those studies were complemented by the questionnaire research among the relevant companies in Plzeň and South Bohemia regions followed by semi-structured interviews with managers of selected companies. The presented findings, observations, recommendations and feedback from business practice form the basis for the second phase of the project, which is focused on creating a methodology for adapting small and medium-sized enterprises in the services sector to the conditions of Society 4.0.

Latar belakang: Pelayanan asuransi dari pemerintah (JKN) melalui badan penyelenggara BPJS-KIS saat ini merupakan bagian besar rumah sakit yang ada di Indonesia. Meskipun begitu masih banyak peserta ...BPJS-KIS yang masih belum mengetahui tatacara menggunakan asuransi JKN di rumah sakit. Pihak rumah sakit melalui Customer Relationship Management (CRM) seharusnya bisa memberikan informasi tersebut melalui website atau melalui media social RS. Tujuan: Penelitian ini memberikan usulan model penyampaian informasi melalui model social-CRM sebagai bentuk ikatan antara pasien asuransi pemeritah BPJS-KIS terhadap rumah sakit kelas C di Yogyakarta sebagai rujukan pertama Faskes 1. Method: peneliti mengambil contoh website rumah sakit kelas C di Yogyakarta baik rumah sakit pemerintah, organisasi sosial dan swasta. Dari website rumah sakit tersebut kami menganalisis seberapa besar bentuk informasi tentang asuransi dan service RS terhadap pasien BPJS _KIS. Kami memberikan usulan desain model social-CRM atau CRM-2.0 untuk rumah sakit dengan memasukan informasi BPJS-KIS dalam menu khusus. Dalam model social CRM ini kami memberikan usulan fitur yang mudah di akses peserta/ pasien KIS yang di hubungan dengan social media RS seperti Facebook, twiter instagram dll. Hasil: Bentuk usulan social CRM rumah sakit yang diperuntukan masyarakat pengguna asuransi BPJS –KIS yang dapat diakses melalui social media RS.

Els resultats demostren que els KIS presenten un grau de concentració més elevat que el de la població, i que és més acusat que en altres països i en altres activitats de l’economia del coneixement. Els KIS s’aglomeren en grans àrees metropolitanes, amb variacions que depenen de la intensitat de coneixement invertit en la producció dels serveis.

Los resultados demuestran que los KIS presentan un grado de concentración mayor que el de la población, y más acusado que en otros países y en otras actividades de la economía del conocimiento. Los KIS se aglomeran en grandes áreas metropolitanas, con variaciones que dependen de la intensidad de conocimiento invertido en la producción de los servicios.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a group of colorless and odorless environmental pollutants with a wide range of toxic effects. Some PCBs, especially less chlorinated ones, will rapidly undergo ...phase I metabolism after entering the body, and hydroxylated polychlorinated biphenyls (OH-PCBs) are the main metabolites of PCBs. Intestinal flora α-glucosidase is a common carbohydrate-active enzyme which is ubiquitous in human intestinal flora. It can convert complex dietary polysaccharides into monosaccharides, assisting the body in degrading complex carbohydrates and providing energy for the survival and growth of bacterial flora. The present study aims to investigate the inhibition of the activity of intestinal flora α-glucosidase by OH-PCBs. 4-Nitrophenyl-α-D-glucopyranoside (PNPG) was used as a probe substrate for α-glucosidase, and in vitro incubation experiments were conducted to study the inhibition of 26 representative OH-PCBs on α-glucosidase. Preliminary screening of in vitro incubation was performed with 100 μM of OH-PCBs. The results showed that 26 OH-PCBs generally exhibited strong inhibition of α-glucosidase. The concentration-dependent inhibition and half inhibition concentrations (IC50s) of OH-PCBs on α-glucosidase were determined. 4'-OH-PCB 86 and 4'-OH-PCB 106 were chosen as representative OH-PCBs, and the inhibition kinetic parameters (Kis) of inhibitors for α-glucosidase were determined. The inhibition kinetic parameters (Kis) of 4'-OH-PCB 86 and 4'-OH-PCB 106 for α-glucosidase are 1.007 μM and 0.538 μM, respectively. The silico docking method was used to further analyze the interaction mechanism between OH-PCBs and α-glucosidase. All these results will help us to understand the risks of OH-PCB exposure from a new perspective.
