The article presents the problems caused by the destruction in 1944 of the manuscript containing the copy of Samuel Twardowski’s entitled Wojna domowa z Kozaki i Tatary prepared under the author’s ...control. For the first part of the work, the basis for the edition must be the edition of the first part from 1660, published under the author’s control. For the second to the fourth part, the Kalisz edition was corrected by Alojzy Kowalkowski’s notes. The edition of Kalisz, as it was censored by the Jesuits from Kalisz for the needs of education in the colleges of the order, cannot constitute the basis for a new edition on its own. We only have the notes of Alojzy Kowalkowski, who compiled the manuscript with the Kalisz edition before World War II. As the individual copies of the Kalisz edition differ, relations between them should be established. Moreover, we do not know whether the burned manuscript was the basis for the Kalisz edition, or whether there is a copy of the work that was directly used by Jesuit printers. In the diocesan archives in Pelplin, the notes of Kowalkowski, which may be a handwritten copy of either a lost manuscript or the Kalisz edition. If they were a copy of the manuscript, could they become the basis for a new edition of parts II–IV of the work?
Ten specimens of two phosphatic fossils have been recently discovered in lower and middle portions of Middle Cambrian Jince Formation in the Czech Republic. They are attributed to the genus ...Sphenothallus Hall, 1847 and described as two separate species; comparatively small conchs are described as S. kozaki sp. nov., the much larger specimens characterized by its smooth and partly flexible organo-phosphatic walls of shell are determined as ?S. kordulei sp. nov. Sphenothallus is known to range from Cambrian to Permian and accommodates numerous species. However, its Cambrian distribution is considerably restricted. Generally rare specimens have been described from Lower to Middle Cambrian of Laurentia and from the Lower Cambrian of Gondwana and peri-Gondwana. The new record of Sphenothallus from the Jince Biota represents a notable extension of their geographic range.
Dix spécimens phosphatés appartenant à deux espèces ont été récemment découverts dans des sections inférieures et supérieures de la Formation de Jince dans le Cambrien moyen de République tchèque. Ils sont attribués au genre Sphenothalhus Hall, 1847 et décrits sous deux espèces distinctes ; les plus petites conques sont attribuées àS. kozaki sp. nov., les plus grandes, caractérisées par les parois lisses et partiellement flexibles de la coquille organo-phosphatée, sont attribuées à ?S. kordulei sp. nov. Sphenothalhus est connu du Cambrien au Permien et comprend de nombreuses espèces. Néanmoins, sa distribution au Cambrien est considérablement restreinte. Globalement, de rares spécimens ont été décrits dans le Cambrien inférieur et moyen de la Laurentia et dans le Cambrien inférieur du Gondwana et du péri-Gondwana. Ce nouvel enregistrement de Sphenothallus dans la faune de Jince représente une augmentation notable de leur extension géographique.
The stratigraphic classification of the Middle to Upper Pleistocene distributed in Namegata and Kashima uplands of Ibaraki Prefecture was examined. This Pleistocene is divided into four formations. ...These can be correlated with the Yokaichiba Formation, Kozaki Formation, Kamiiwahashi Formation and Kioroshi Formation in ascending order. The geological structure in this area shows westward-dipping monoclinic structure. The contour line of the boundary between the upper and the lower parts of the Yokaichiba Formation bends in the southern part of Namegata Upland. This bending part is reratively a subsiding area. The location of large-scale buried valley, thickness variation and depositional process of the Kamiiwahashi Formation are controlled by this structure.

Sr isotopic ratios and Rb, Sr and REE abundances are determined for granitic clasts from the middle Permian Kozaki Formation in the Kurosegawa Belt, Kumamoto, Southwest Japan, in order to elucidate ...their source and formation. Garnet-biotite granodiorite clasts, uniquely found in the Kozaki Formation, show M-type REE tetrad patterns and wide variation of Rb/Sr ratios, which enable their petrogenesis and age determination. The REE patterns indicate shallow formation of the garnet-bearing granodiorite. The Rb-Sr isotopic data yield an age of 251 ± 46 Ma with an initial ratio of 0.7055 ± 0.0006. The Rb-Sr age is close to the sedimentation age of the Kozaki Formation defined by paleontological data and K-Ar ages of the corresponding granitic clasts in the Permian conglomerate (“Usuginu conglomerate”) of the Kitakami area, Northeast Japan. The initial Sr isotopic ratio of 0.7055 is slightly higher than the ratios around 0.7040 reported for the Permian granitic rocks from the Akaishi Range and the eastern Kyushu and the corresponding Permian granitic clasts in the Kitakami area. The initial ratio for the garnet-biotite granodiorite clasts is also slightly higher than the ratios (0.7037 and 0.7032) at 345 and 400 Ma reported for Yatsushiro granite of the Kurosegawa Belt (Nohda, 1973; Yanagi, 1975). These Sr isotopic data suggest that the garnet-biotite granodiorite clasts correspond to rocks differentiated from the Kurosegawa granitic rocks. The Sr initial ratio of 0.7055 at 251 Ma for the garnet-bearing granodiorite clasts is slightly enriched but still primitive, and the Sr initial ratio clearly indicates that the clasts were not derived from typical-continental crust. The Rb-Sr isotopic data and our preliminary Sm-Nd isotopic data for the garnet-biotite granodiorite clasts yield εSr (251 Ma) = +18 and εNd (251 Ma) = +6, suggesting an intra-oceanic arc provenance for the garnet-biotite granodiorite body from which the clasts in the Kozaki Formation had been derived.

The Lower Member consists of conglomerate, sandstone, mudstone with limestone. The Middle Member is mainly composed of conglomerate and pebbly sandstone. The Upper Member consists of pebbly mudstone, mudstone and sandstone. The Lower and Upper members yield radiolarian fossils. The radiolarians of the Lower Member indicate Early Permian, and these of the Upper Member denote earliest Late and later Late Permian. Fossil evidence suggests that the Kozaki Formation ranges in age from Early to Late Permian. The Upper Member of the Kozaki Formation probably corresponds to the Kuma Formation.
