The Kvarner area is located in the Northern Adriatic Sea, between the south-east Istrian Swell, the Rijeka coast and the Croatian sea boundary. It includes several islands, representing the ...outcropping parts of anticlines produced by the compressional/transpressional deformation of the External Dinaric Chain. An extensive 2D seismic dataset, acquired for hydrocarbon exploration and calibrated by wells, allowed us to reconstruct the time structural maps in Kvarner and unravel its regional fault pattern. The Dinaric compressional phase affected the area in the Late Cretaceous, with both thin- and thick-skinned tectonics related to Adriatic Carbonate Platform (AdCP) succession rigidity. Structural highs facing the Kvarner offshore from the Istrian inland continue through the Kvarner and Rijeka bays and outcrop in the islands. These anticlines, originating from the pre-Messinian Dinaric thrust system, were reactivated by the post-Messinian transpression, as testified by flower structures. Several sharp valleys represent two main low structural lineaments, developed between the anticlines and partially incised during the Messinian. They were observed throughout the entire studied area, specifically in the western part of the bays, where the lineament continues through the valleys and penetrates the SW-Istria land. Data show that the Messinian erosional effect and sedimentation patterns were influenced and driven by the morphology of older structures produced by the Dinaric compressional phase.
•Thin-and thick-skinned tectonics is present in the External Dinarides.•Structures of Kvarner Islands continue in the Istrian peninsula through Kvarner offshore.•Sharp valleys are filled by a prograding clinoform system bounded by two major unconformities.•Older tectonic structures played an important role in recent geodynamics of External Dinarides.

Cilj. Rad se bavi životom i djelom tiskara, nakladnika i urednika, Rudolfa Desselbrunnera (Graz, 1851. ‒ Gradačac, 1931.) i njegovim tiskovinama: Galeb, Vragoljan i Kvarner koje je izdavao u Bakru, a ...tek nekoliko brojeva na Sušaku. To razdoblje s prekidima obuhvaća vrijeme od 1878. do 1892. godine. Rad je podijeljen u dva dijela zbog opsežnih saznanja i dosad nepoznatih detalja iz života i djelovanja te nakladničke ostavštine R. Desselbrunnera. U ovome, drugome dijelu rada, upoznajemo čitatelje s tri lista koja je Desselbrunner tiskao, bio im nakladnikom i uglavnom ih sam uređivao. Time smo nastojali olakšati pretraživanje i korištenje odabranih članaka radi novih znanstvenih spoznaja o tiskarstvu te praćenja društvenih i političkih događaja u Hrvatskom primorju u drugoj polovici 19. stoljeća.
Metodologija. Da bi postigli najvažnije zacrtane ciljeve ovoga dijela rada, autori su pročitali i analizirali članke svih brojeva spomenutih listova, izdvojivši pritom ukupno njih 245 kao reprezentativni uzorak. Potom su ih obradili metodom sadržajne analize.
Rezultati. Ovim radom ostvarena su tri značajna rezultata. Prvo, omogućen je uvid u dostupne detalje iz života i djelovanja R. Desselbrunnera kao i u sadržaj članaka i njihovo lako pretraživanje, čime je znatno olakšano daljnje istraživanje informacijskim znanstvenicima, povjesničarima, etnolozima i dijalektolozima. Drugo, dokazano je da je Desselbrunner zaslužan za promicanje građanskih sloboda, slobode tiska i govora kao i etabliranje kulture dijaloga. Treći je rezultat ovoga rada dokaz da je na lokalnoj razini u svojim tiskovinama trajno zabilježio brojne društvene događaje u gradu Bakru i okolici, ponudivši tako dopunske izvore za pisanje lokalne povijesti.
Originalnost. Originalnost rada prepoznaje se kroz obradu arhivskoga gradiva, a može se iščitati i iz pristupa obradi članaka koji nije zamijećen ni kod pisanja o većim riječkim pa ni hrvatskim starim novinama.

Rad sintetizira dosadašnja istraživanja i rezultate provedenog istraživanja na konkretnom primjeru – turističkoj destinaciji Kvarnera. Društvene mreže su postale važan alat u izgradnji imidža ...turističke destinacije i prepoznatljivosti na turističkom tržištu. Stvaranjem zanimljivih sadržaja na društvenim mrežama može se utjecati na privlačenje potencijalnih turista u destinaciju, kao i dijeljenjem sadržaja i vizualnih materijala korisnika društvenih mreža koji su već posjetili destinaciju. Stoga se u radu propituje u kojoj mjeri posjetitelji turističke destinacije Kvarnera koriste društvene mreže kao izvor informacija i koliko one utječu na odabir turističke destinacije Kvarnera kao njihove odredišne destinacije. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da društvene mreže značajno utječu na odluku turista o odabiru turističke destinacije Kvarnera kao destinacije odmora, ali u manjoj mjeri nego na odluke turista koji posjećuju druge primorske regionalne destinacije. Stoga su potrebni dodatni napori kako bi se popularizirale stranice na Facebooku i Instagramu među potencijalnim turistima.
Ivan Klobučarić was one of the most important Croatian cartographers at the turn of the 17th century. In 1579 he produced a panorama of Rijeka which is kept in the War Archives (Kriegsarchiv) in ...Vienna. The Styrian Provincial Archives (Steiermärkische Landesarchiv) in Graz houses a map of the Bay of Rijeka with a panorama of the city dated 1586, attributed to Klobučarić. His cartographic legacy created between 1601 and 1605 can be found in the Clobucciarich – Skizzen collection. It comprises 108 sheets. Most are double-sided. Some pages show two or more items, so that the entire collection includes around 500 cartographic depictions. In terms of western Croatia, there are about twenty. This paper provides a list of the contents of Klobučarić’s cartographic depictions relating to the area of Croatia. A sketch of the Kvarner Littoral from Rijeka to Sveti Juraj with the mainland hinterland is described, with a map of parts of Croatia from Rijeka to Omiš with the mainland hinterland. An analysis was conducted of the contents of the parts of the sketch and map showing the Kvarner Littoral, comparing the representation of settlements showed and those omitted, with toponyms on the map and those shown on earlier maps of the Kvarner Littoral. The paper indicates errors in previous works about Klobučarić’s life, work and cartographic activities.
Ivan Klobučarić jedan je od najznačajnijih hrvatskih kartografa s kraja 16. i početka 17. stoljeća. Autor je panoramske vedute Rijeke iz 1579. koja se čuva u Ratnom arhivu (Kriegsarchiv) u Beču. U Štajerskom zemaljskom arhivu (Steiermärkische Landesarchiv) u Grazu nalazi se karta
Riječkog zaljeva s vedutom Rijeke iz 1586. koja se pripisuje Klobučariću. U tom Arhivu, u fondu Clobucciarich – Skizzen čuva se Klobučarićeva kartografska ostavština nastala u razdoblju 1601–1605. Sastoji se od 108 listova. Na većini listova prikazi se nalaze s obiju strana papira. Na pojedinim stranicama postoje dva ili više prikaza, tako da čitav fond sadrži oko 500 kartografskih prikaza. Za područje zapadne Hrvatske, Klobučarićeva ostavština sadrži dvadesetak kartografskih prikaza. U radu je dan popis sadržaja Klobučarićevih kartografskih prikaza koji se odnose na područja Hrvatske. Opisana je skica Kvarnerskog primorja od Rijeke do Sv. Jurja s kopnenim zaleđem i karta dijela Hrvatske od Rijeke do Omiša s kopnenim zaleđem. Provedena je analiza sadržaja dijela skice i karte na kojem je prikazano Kvarnersko primorje, usporedbom zastupljenosti naselja koja je Klobučarić prikazao i onih koja nije te usporedbom toponima sadržanih na
karti s toponimima prikazanim na ranije izrađenim kartama na kojima je prikazano Kvarnersko primorje. Ukazano je na pogreške uočene u dosadašnjim radovima o Klobučarićevu životu i njegovu kartografskom djelovanju.
The Cenomanian–Turonian boundary (CTB) on the intra-Tethyan Adriatic Carbonate Platform (AdCP) is generally characterised by a transition between microbially laminated and/or bioclastic limestones to ...calcisphere-rich massive limestone with bioturbated intervals, organic-rich interbeds, firmgrounds, as well as neptunian dikes, carbonate turbidites, tempestites and slumped structures. Compilation of the results from two study sites in the northwestern part of the AdCP and from previous research (on Istria Peninsula and islands in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia) provides a more complete overview of geological events and paleoenvironmental conditions that transformed the formerly contiguous shallow-marine environments during this time period. For the first time, a comparison between protected inner-platform area (Barban section) and a coeval intra-platform basin (Premuda Island section) during the CTB was made. This study utilized a combination of litho-, bio-, and microfacies studies with SEM, EDS, TOC, δ13C and δ18O stable isotope analyses. The stratigraphic successions start with shallow-marine carbonate deposits of the Milna Formation that is conformably overlain by the drowned-platform deposits of the Sveti Duh Formation on the platform and by the Veli Rat Formation in the contemporaneously developed intraplatform basin. These deposits are in turn overlain by the Gornji Humac Formation, which represents re-establishment of shallow-marine depositional systems on the AdCP, whereas the deeper water environment persisted in the intra-platform basin until the Santonian.
Despite diagenetic modifications of shallow-marine carbonate deposits, the results of TOC and stable isotope analyses indicate the influence of global Oceanic Anoxic Event 2 (OAE2). Combination of local and regional synsedimentary tectonics and global Late Cretaceous sea-level changes accompanied by anoxic and hypoxic conditions, extinction of numerous benthic foraminifera, diversification and expansion of planktonic foraminifera and calcareous dinoflagellates, provide new insights into the character of the CTB interval in this part of the Tethyan realm.
The studied rock collapse structure is located on the Liburnian coast (Rijeka Bay, channel zone of the NE Adriatic). The relief of the southern part of this coast, with a length of 6.5 km, is a large ...escarpment with very steep to vertical slopes reaching heights of 100 m above sea level, as a result of tectonic movements along the Kvarner fault zone. These events probably led to a sudden relaxation of the highly fractured rock mass. The progressive expansion occurred at locations where previously favourably oriented faults and fissures had formed a polygonal rock collapse resembling a rock-slide which is the focus of this study. Another aim of this study is to reconstruct and explain the complex morphological evolution of the studied landslide, from the pre-failure deformations, through the failure itself, to post-failure displacements, as well as possible future instabilities. Recent techniques to survey the instability, location and to analyse the evolution of the rupture surface and its dimensions were combined (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Side Scan Sonar and Remotely Operated Vehicles). The estimated total volume of displaced rock mass is 950,000 m3. The lower part of the instability phenomenon was submerged during the Holocene sea level rise. Since then, a large part of the displaced rock mass has been in a stable position, with sporadic rock falls. However, given unfavourable orientation and discontinuity characteristics, as well as unfavourable environmental influences, possible instabilities might also be expected in the future.
Mletački slikar Baldassare DʼAnna (Venecija, 1572. – 1646.) zastupljen je brojnim slikama u Istri i Dalmaciji. Relativno dobro istražena, njegova su djela protumačena kao eklektični radovi na kojima ...se prepoznaju izravni i dosljedni utjecaji suvremenika i prethodnika na liniji Tizian – Jacopo Palma, mlađi. Taj je očigledni utjecaj rezultirao konvencionalnim oltarnim palama i slikama sakralne tematike koje slijede renesansne kompozicijske obrasce simetričnosti i jasnoga rasporeda s čvrsto modeliranim likovima na kojima ponavlja tjelesne odlike i fizionomije. Tom korpusu slikarovih djela u Hrvatskoj (i Bosni i Hercegovini) autor dodaje dosad neuočena djela na otoku Braču, Šolti, Lošinju i Krku na kojima se ne prepoznaju novosti u likovnom smislu, ali se još više uočava uloga, značenje i popularnost koju je DʼAnnino zakašnjelo renesansno slikarstvo imalo kod dalmatinskih naručitelja. Ukazuje se i na – nedovoljno istraženu – ulogu njegovih suradnika u radionici jer su vidljive oscilacije u likovnoj vrijednosti njegovih slika.

Ilovik is one of the smallest inhabited islands (5.51 km2) in the Adriatic Sea. It is composed of karstified Cretaceous and Paleogene limestones. Despite its small size, the island was the subject of an extensive research program.
The main objective was setting up a groundwater extraction site to extract brackish groundwater at a rate of least 1.0L/s with chloride concentrations below 5000 mg/L.
The research was carried out in three phases using various methods: geological and hydrogeological mapping, geophysical profiling (electrical tomography and seismic refraction), investigatory core drilling, test-well design, pumping tests, groundwater level monitoring, and hydrogeochemical analyses (in situ and laboratory tests). The underground spread of electrical resistivity mapped the groundwater level and transition zone from fresh to brackish water, and seismic velocities indicated fractured zones. After the pumping tests, hydraulic parameters were calculated based on calculations for similar karstic aquifers, and hydraulic conductivity was within orders of magnitude of 10−4–10−6m/s. The results have great applicability, as the water quantity and quality were determined. Additionally, parametric estimation of the hydrogeological properties was useful even in heterogeneous Dinaric karst environments. Such karst environments have to be studied via several different methods, with common interpretation, to avoid ambiguous conclusions.
