In order to investigate the influence of differently sized particle fractions on the fate of ionic chemicals in water-sediment systems, we performed simulation studies following OECD guideline 308. ...We used 14C-labelled anionic (4-n-dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid sodium salt, ‘14C-DS-’), cationic (4-n-dodecylbenzyltrimethyl ammonium chloride, ‘14C-DA+‘) and non-ionic (4-n-dodecylphenol, ‘14C-DP’) organic chemicals. The sediment was subjected to particle size fractionation. For each particle fraction and test compound, water-sediment systems were prepared and incubated for 14 days. Across all particle fractions, higher amounts of applied radioactivity (AR) of 14C-DS- (in sand 60.1%, in silt 45.1%, in clay 57.0%) and of 14C-DP (sand: 31.8%, silt: 24.4%, clay: 29.2%) were mineralised compared to 14C-DA+ (sand: 5.1% AR, silt: 3.5% AR, clay: 2.4% AR). The highest bioavailability was observed for 14C-DS- followed by 14C-DP and 14C-DA+ across all particle fractions. Formation of non-extractable residues (NER) of 14C-DS- did not substantially differ between the particle fractions, whereas NER formation of 14C-DA+ was higher in the clay fraction (24.3% AR) than in silt (15.9% AR) and sand (8.4% AR). The same trend was observed for 14C-DP. We showed that differently sized particle fractions have an influence on the fate of ionic chemicals in water-sediment systems and conclude that this should be considered when simulation studies in soils and sediments with different textural compositions are performed. Since a positive charge of organic chemicals tends to form higher portions of NER in the clay fraction of sediments, these NER should be further investigated in terms of their nature and types of binding.

Mastitis, upala mliječne žlijezde jedna je od tri glavne bolesti koje utječu na profitabilnost proizvođača mlijeka i najskuplja bolest intenzivnog mliječnog govedarstva. Ekonomski gubici nastaju zbog ...odbacivanja mlijeka, povećanog izlučenja krava, troškova lijekova, rada veterinara i rada samih stočara. Međutim, sve je više dokaza da hranidba može imati značajan učinak na imunosni sustav, čime utječe na incidenciju infekcije i tijek mastitisa. Glavni utjecaj hranidbe na zdravlje vimena je putem supresije imunosnog sustava. Loš sastav obroka ne uzrokuje mastitis, ali može olakšati bakterijama da se udomaće u mliječnoj žlijezdi, što rezultira povećanom stopom mastitisa. Mliječna žlijezda krava često je izložena potencijalnim patogenima, ali većina krava ne dobije mastitis jer je njihov imunosni sustav adekvatan da spriječi infekciju. Cilj ovog rada je rasvijetliti povezanost između određenih minerala iz hrane i mastisa u mliječnih krava. Minerali dokazano imaju učinak na proizvodnju i reprodukciju, a njihov nedostatak može rezultirati imunosupresijom. Minerali koji utječu na zdravlje vimena su: selen, bakar, cink, kalcij, fosfor, magnezij, sumpor, mangan i molibden.
Mastitis, an inflammation of the mammary gland, is one of the three main diseases that affect the profitability of milk producers and the most expensive disease of intensive dairy cattle farming. Economic losses occur due to the rejection of milk, increased excretion of cows, the cost of medicines, the work of veterinarians, and the work of the herdsmen themselves. However, there is increasing evidence that nutrition can have a significant effect on the immune system, thereby influencing the incidence of infections and the course of mastitis. The main influence of feeding on udder health is through the suppression of the immune system. A poor diet does not cause mastitis, but it can make it easier for bacteria to colonize the mammary gland, resulting in an increased rate of mastitis. The mammary gland of cows is often exposed to potential pathogens, but most cows do not develop mastitis because their immune systems are adequate to prevent infection. This work aims to describe the relationship between certain minerals from food and mastitis in dairy cows. Minerals have been proven to affect production and reproduction, and their deficiency can result in immunosuppression. Minerals that affect the health of the udder are selenium, copper, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, manganese, and molybdenum.

Među funkcionalnim namirnicama posljednjih godina često se ističu microgreens različitog povrća, aromatičnog bilja i žitarica kao izvor polifenola, vitamina i minerala, koji pokazuju pozitivan ...utjecaj na ljudsko zdravlje. Microgreens se konzumiraju u fazi kotiledona i nepotpuno razvijenih prvih pravih listova u svježem stanju pa ne dolazi do gubitka hranjivih tvari tijekom obrade. Nutricionisti preporučuju konzumaciju microgreensa zbog veće količine vitamina i minerala, odnosno, manje količine nitrata u odnosu na potpuno razvijene biljke. U radu je, na temelju pregleda literature, prikazan izbor vrsta, nutritivna vrijednost, tehnologija uzgoja i upotreba microgreensa.
The Alhama de Granada spa is a space resource with a strong historical use. The properties of its mineral-medicinal waters have aroused the curiosity of many people. For that reason, in the last ...centuries the lands of Alhama have welcomed different civilizations in search of thermal cures in their spa. However, use of these salubrious waters has also been marked by greed and litigation. In this document, firstly the geographical context and the historical uses of the water in the Alhama de Granada spa are collected and secondly, the different phases of the legal regime and ownership of the water are described. In this way, the objective is to carry out a geohistorical analysis of the use of the mineral-medicinal waters of the Alhama spa and its legislative framework in order to draw conclusions related to the current situation of the resource and local development.
La station thermale d'Alhama de Granada est une ressource territoriale avec une utilisation historique marquée. Les propriétés de ses eaux minéralo-médicinales ont suscité la curiosité de beaucoup de personnes, c'est pourquoi, au fil des siècles, les terres d'Alhama ont accueilli différentes civilisations dans leur station thermale à la recherche d'une cure thermale. Cependant, l'utilisation de ces eaux salutaires a également été marquée par la cupidité et les litiges. Dans ce document, d'une part, le contexte géographique et les utilisations historiques de l'eau de la station thermale d'Alhama de Granada sont rassemblés et, d'autre part, les différentes phases du régime juridique et de la propriété des eaux sont décrites. De cette façon, l'objectif est de faire une analyse géohistorique de l'utilisation des eaux minéralo-médicinales de la station thermale d'Alhama et de son cadre législatif afin d'établir des conclusions liées à la situation actuelle de la ressource et le développement local.
Le terme dell'Alhama de Granada sono una risorsa territoriale con un marcato uso storico. Le proprietà delle sue acque minerali-medicinali hanno suscitato la curiosità di molti, ecco perché, nei secoli, le terre di Alhama hanno accolto nelle loro terme diverse civiltà alla ricerca di una cura termale. Tuttavia, l'uso di queste acque salutari è stato segnato anche dall'avidità e dal contenzioso. In questo documento, in primo luogo, vengono raccolti il contesto geografico e gli usi storici delle acque delle terme di Alhama de Granada e, in secondo luogo, vengono descritte le diverse fasi del regime giuridico e della proprietà delle acque. In tal modo, l'obiettivo è quello di effettuare un'analisi geostorica dell'uso delle acque minerali-medicinali delle terme di Alhama e del suo quadro normativo al fine di trarre conclusioni relative alla situazione attuale della risorsa e dello sviluppo locale.
A estância termal da Alhama de Granada é um recurso territorial com uma marcada utilização histórica. As propriedades das suas águas mineromedicinais despertaram a curiosidade de muitos, razão pela qual, ao longo dos séculos, as terras de Alhama acolheram nas suas termas diversas civilizações em busca de uma cura termal. No entanto, o uso dessas águas salutares também tem sido marcado pela ganância e pelo litígio. Neste documento, em primeiro lugar, são recolhidos o contexto geográfico e os usos históricos da água das termas de Alhama de Granada e, em segundo lugar, são descritas as diferentes fases do regime jurídico e da titularidade das águas. Desta forma, pretende-se fazer uma análise geohistórica da utilização das águas mineromedicinais da estância termal de Alhama e do seu enquadramento legislativo de forma a estabelecer conclusões relacionadas com a situação atual do recurso e o desenvolvimento local.
El balneario de Alhama de Granada es un recurso territorial con un marcado uso histórico. Las propiedades de sus aguas mineromedicinales han despertado la curiosidad de muchos, por tanto a lo largo de los siglos las tierras de Alhama han acogido en su balneario a diferentes civilizaciones que buscaban la cura termal. Sin embargo, el uso de estas aguas salutíferas también ha estado marcado por la codicia y los litigios. En este documento se recogen en primer lugar el contexto geográfico y los usos históricos del agua del balneario de Alhama de Granada y, en segundo lugar, se describen las diferentes fases del régimen jurídico y titularidad de las aguas. De esta forma, el objetivo es hacer un análisis geohistórico del uso de las aguas mineromedicinales del balneario de Alhama y de su marco legislativo con el fin de establecer conclusiones relacionadas con la situación del recurso en la actualidad.
Celer je povrće koje se odlikuje visokom nutritivnom i zdravstvenom vrijednosti. Fosfor je u ljudskom organizmu od iznimne važnosti za žuč, bubrege i probavu. Dnevna potreba u ljudskoj ishrani za ...fosforom kod odraslog čovjeka iznosi 700 mg. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi količine fosfora u korijenu celera korjenaša prikupljenom na tržištu grada Zagreba. Uzorkovanje je provedeno 2016. na dvije tržnice, u dva trgovačka lanca i u dvije trgovine ekološkim proizvodima. Uzorci su sušeni na 105 °C do konstantne mase nakon čega su mljeveni i homogenizirani. Nakon razgradnje s HNO3 i HClO4 fosfor je određen spektrofotometrijski. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su znatno variranje u količini fosfora u korijenu celera, u suhoj tvari od 0,50 do 0,93% P, a u svježoj tvari od 67 do 90 mg P/100 g svježe tvari, ovisno o prodajnom kanalu. Konzumacijom 100 g celera iz ovog istraživanja može se podmiriti od 9,8 do čak 12,8%. dnevnih potreba za fosforom.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of sepiolite mineral used in the production of polypropylene based wood plastic composite (OPK) materials on thermal properties and thermal ...conductivity. The pellets obtained from the mixture of wood flour, polypropylene and sepiolite minerals with double-screw extruder were milled and pressed to produce OPK boards. Thermal properties such as Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) as well as the thermal conductivity properties of the produced boards (ASTM C 1113-09) have been determined. It has been determined that the addition of the sepiolite mineral used as fire retardant in OPK materials increases the thermal and thermal conductivity properties, while the crystallization degree decreases.
The aim of this study was to compare the biological activities of ethanolic propolis extracts of
obtained from Ardahan and Erzurum provinces of Turkey. Samples were tested for antioxidant, ...anticytotoxic, anticarcinogenic, antibacterial, and antifungal potentials using different techniques. Propolis samples from the two provinces had different mineral and organic compositions related to their geographical origin. The ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) test showed superiority of Ardahan propolis over the Erzurum. Regardless of origin and the presence of mitomycin C in the culture medium, propolis enhanced human peripheral lymphocyte viability, which depended on the duration and propolis concentration. Antiperoxidative activity on MCF-7 breast cancer cells was concentration-dependent. Erzurum propolis showed the highest anticarcinogenic activity at the concentrations of 62.5 μg/mL and 125 μg/ mL, which dropped at higher concentrations. All propolis samples also showed antibacterial activity against the tested human pathogens similar to ampicillin and penicillin controls, except for

. In conclusion, propolis samples from both provinces showed promising biological activities, but further research should focus on finding the right concentrations for optimal effect and include the cell necrosis pathway to get a better idea of the anticarcinogenic effects.
Introduction: Oxidative stress is involved in the pathophysiology of systemic arterial hypertension (HAS) and the role of antioxidants in this context still needs to be better understood. Objective: ...To evaluate the prevalence of hypertension and the relationship with polyphenol intake and total dietary antioxidant capacity (DTAC) in climacteric women from Serra Gaúcha-RS, Brazil. Materials and methods: 41 women participated in the study (CEP 2,420,632; 12/07/2017) and they were subjected to measurements of weight, height, waist circumference, and blood pressure. Different questionnaires were applied to obtain sociodemographic and health information, in addition to the 24-hour Food Recall. Comparisons between the hypertensive and non-hypertensive groups were made using Student's t-test or chi-square. Results: The prevalence of HAS in the population was 29,27 % (IC95% 14,73; 43,81) and hypertensive women had a BMI statistically higher than non-hypertensive women (p=0.047). Although without a statistical difference, it was observed that the hypertensive group had decreased DTAC and total polyphenol intake (9 and 11% reduction, respectively). The mineral magnesium had its intake significantly reduced (30%; p=0.006) by hypertensive women. This group also had an intake below the recommended for vitamins A and E. Among the foods and beverages that contributed to increasing the participants' DTAC, coffee ranked first in both groups. Conclusion: These data demonstrate the importance of monitoring the consumption of antioxidants to prevent and/or control hypertension and diseases related to heart health in climacteric women.
Introduzione: lo stress ossidativo è coinvolto nella patofisiologia dell'ipertensione arteriosa sistemica (ha) e il ruolo degli antiossidanti in questo contesto deve ancora essere compreso. Obiettivo: valutare la prevalenza dell'ipertensione e del rapporto con l'assunzione di polifenolo e la capacità antiossidante dietetica totale (DTAC) nelle donne climatiche del Gaucho-RS di Serra, Brasile. Materiali e metodi: 41 donne hanno partecipato allo studio (2,420.632 del DEI 2,420.632; 07/12/2017) e sono stati sottoposti a spazi vuoti, altezza, circonferenza della vita e pressione sanguigna. Sono stati applicati diversi questionari per l'ottenimento di informazioni sociodemografiche e sanitarie, oltre al richiamo del cibo 24 ore su 24. I confronti tra gruppi ipertensivi e non ipertensivi sono stati effettuati da studente o T-test a T-square. Risultati: la prevalenza di ha nella popolazione è stata del 29,27% (IC95% 14.73; 43.81) e le donne ipertesi hanno presentato BMI statisticamente superiore a quelle non ipertesi (P = 0,047). Sebbene senza differenza statistica, è stato osservato che il gruppo ipertensivo ha presentato DTAC e ingestione di polifenoli totali diminuiti (rispettivamente 9 e 11% di riduzione). Il minerale di magnesio aveva la sua ingestione significativamente ridotta (30%; p = 0,006) da parte delle donne ipertesi. È stato osservato che esibivano un'ingestione al di sotto del raccomandato per le vitamine A ed E. Tra i prodotti alimentari e le bevande che hanno contribuito ad aumentare il DTAC dei partecipanti, il caffè era il primo in entrambi i gruppi. Introdução: O estresse oxidativo está envolvido na fisiopatologia da hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS) e o papel dos antioxidantes nesse contexto ainda precisa ser melhor compreendido. Objetivo: avaliar a prevalência de hipertensão e a relação com ingestão de polifenóis e capacidade antioxidante total dietética (DTAC) em mulheres climatéricas da Serra Gaúcha-RS, Brasil. Materiais e métodos: 41 mulheres participaram do estudo (CEP 2.420.632; 07/12/2017) e foram submetidas a aferições de peso, altura, circunferência da cintura e pressão arterial. Aplicaram-se diferentes questionários visando a obtenção de informações sociodemográficas e de saúde, além do Recordatório Alimentar de 24 horas. Comparações entre os grupos hipertenso e não hipertenso foram feitas através de teste t de Student ou qui-quadrado. Resultados: A prevalência de HAS na população foi de 29,27 % (IC95% 14,73; 43,81) e as mulheres hipertensas apresentaram IMC estatisticamente superior ao das não hipertensas (p=0,047). Embora sem diferença estatística, observou-se que o grupo hipertenso apresentou DTAC e ingestão de polifenóis totais diminuídos (9 e 11 % de redução, respectivamente). O mineral magnésio teve sua ingestão significativamente reduzida (30 %; p=0,006) pelas mulheres hipertensas. Observou-se que elas exibiram uma ingestão abaixo do recomendado para as vitaminas A e E. Dentre os alimentos e bebidas que contribuíram para aumentar a DTAC das participantes, o café ficou em primeiro lugar em ambos os grupos. Conclusão: Esses dados demonstram a importância do monitoramento do consumo de antioxidantes visando a prevenção e/ou controle da hipertensão e de doenças relacionadas à saúde do coração, em mulheres climatéricas.
Introducción: el estrés oxidativo está involucrado en la fisiopatología de la hipertensión arterial sistémica (tiene) y el papel de los antioxidantes en este contexto todavía debe entenderse mejor. Objetivo: Evaluar la prevalencia de la hipertensión y la relación con la ingesta de polifenol y la capacidad antioxidante dietética total (DTAC) en las mujeres climáticas de la Serra Gaucho-RS, Brasil. Materiales y métodos: 41 mujeres participaron en el estudio (CEP 2,420,632; 07/12/2017) y se presentaron a las brechas de peso, la altura, la circunferencia de la cintura y la presión arterial. Se aplicaron diferentes cuestionarios para la obtención de información sociodemográfica y de salud, además del retiro de alimentos las 24 horas. Las comparaciones entre los grupos hipertensos y no hipertensos fueron hechos por el estudiante o la prueba T CHi-Square. RESULTADOS: La prevalencia de la prevalencia en la población fue del 29.27% (IC95% 14.73; 43.81) y las mujeres hipertensas presentaron a la BMI estadísticamente más altas que las no hipertensas (P = 0.047). Aunque sin diferencia estadística, se observó que el grupo hipertensivo presentaba DTAC e ingestión de polifenoles totales disminuidos (reducción del 9 y 11%, respectivamente).
