The paper presents small finds from the fortified settlement at Žerovnišček near Bločice in the Notranjska region. The majority of finds are dated to the Early and Late Iron ...Age, particularly to the Late La Tène period. It seems that the abandonment of the settlement at the end of Late Iron Age or at the beginning of the Roman period denotes political changes – the Roman conquest of the Cerkniško polje area. The reason was probably the good strategic position, as Žerovnišček allowed control over an important communication route running from the Amber Route towards Dolenjska, Bela krajina and Kvarner Bay.

The paper presents some cases of terrain unstability from the Dolenjska karst area formed in the last yearsaround Žužemberk and Dolenjske Toplice. The Dolenjska karst has its own characteristic way ...of development. Themain features are thick soil top, mainly composed of clay, and high and strongly fluctuating water table. Presentedare a landslide, two rockfalls and a sinkhole collapse. A landslide nearby Žužemberk was initiated in soil top. Bothrockfalls appeared in tectonically highly disturbed carbonate rocks along the Žužemberk fault. The sinkhole collapsein the area around Dolenjske Toplice developed in tectonically damaged rocks inside the Dolenjska - Notranjskahorst and during a period of heavy rain.
The routes between the north Adriatic and the Apennine peninsula on the west and the Balkans and the central Danubian plains on the east ran across Razdrto ever since ancient times. In the late ...prehistory and in the early Roman era the pass of Razdrto was known under the name of Ocra as was the mountain above it.Several Bronze age sites were discovered in the area of the Razdrto pass. The posts in the Razdrto area from the end of the 2nd and first half of the 1st century BC (Mandrga, Preval) differ from the other sites along the east Alpine routes, as they were not spatially linked to any of the existing indigenous settlements and did not show any contact with the surroundings even with their small objects. Most of the remains can be explained as traces of Roman passengers who stopped at Razdrto for a shorter period of time and not as remnants of a significant Roman settlement.A gravel covered road was constructed across the Razdrto pass in the second half of the 1st century BC or in the Augustan period. A roadside building was erected in the middle or late Augustan period and demolished in the mid 1st century AD.The shift of transit from Razdrto to Hrušica (Ad Pirum) took place in the 1st century AD. Post 1st century AD written sources no longer mention the road across Ocra, and the archaeological remains dating after the mid 1st century AD are extremely modest at Razdrto.
Brackish water of coastal karst aquifers is useless. Desalination methods are: interception method to capture fresh water in karst massif, isolation and rise-spring-level methods to prevent sea water ...inflow and reduced pumping of fresh water in dry periods. Four typical cases explain these methods.
The paper describes the dolomite relief of the Žibrše hills where dells are a characteristic relief feature. It discusses the main geomorphological characteristics and genesis of the relief. ...Carbonate rock covers almost one half of Slovenia's surface area, of which dolomite comprises about one quarter. Dolomite relief with dells, which cover a little less than one tenth of the dolomite areas, is par-ticularly interesting. The relief with dells is neither typical fluviodenudational relief because there are no surface water streams nor typical karst relief because dells are linear relief features. Their occurrence and development have not previously been studied in detail. The paper describes the principal characteristics of dolomite relief with dells in the Žibrše hills northeast of Logatec. Considered geomorphologically, the studies of the geological structure and chemistry stud-ies indicate that the dells were formed by periglacial processes during the cold periods of the Pleistocene, and due to the carbonate nature of the rock, by karst processes as well.
