. Istraživanje se oslanja na teoriju pozicioniranja u
malim pričama
(eng.
small stories
, Georgakopoulou 2008, 2017), posebnoj vrsti narativnog diskursa.
Deixis, a semiotic resource present in all languages, is usually defined as a direct link between the linguistic structure and the context of an utterance or a speech event, which is why it is studied in the domain of pragmatics (Levinson 1983). Typical deictic resources are indexicals such as pronouns or adverbs (I, you, that, here, yesterday, etc.) that position speakers in relation to other aspects of the communicative context; other participants, space, time, and the text, i.e., the utterance itself. Building on contemporary approaches within discourse analysis, this paper aims to expand the understanding of deixis from its referential and textual function to its social embeddedness in the deictic field in different interactional contexts, with an emphasis on the practice of sharing experiences online. The study is informed by the theory of positioning in small stories (Georgakopoulou 2017a, 2017b), a particular type of narrative discourse. Compared to privileged and dominantly studied narrative genressuch as narratives of personal experience, which are about some extraordinary, linear events from the past (Podboj 2020), small stories encompass a wide range of short, elliptic accounts about mundane, trivial, everyday situations, ongoing events, or events that have just happened. Social networks, where a great amount of communication occurs nowadays, are designed in a way that particularly favours sharing of such narrative formats. The aim of the paper is to illustrate the role of deixis in the process of affective positioning (Giaxoglou 2015) on social networks by analysingexamples of sharing on Twitter. Special emphasis is given to the processes of entextualisation (Androutsopoulos 2014, Leppänen et al. 2014) and the multimodal construction of discourse through the combination of verbal and visual semiotic resources. The main conclusion of the study is that small stories shared on Twitter favour a multimodal construction of deixis, with an aim of affective positioning of the author.
In this paper, the author aims to show how various implications of poststructuralist theories on the notion of subjectivity can be treated through the so-called “narrative method”. The said narrative method is profiled precisely through the poststructuralist theoretical framework that highlights the elusive character of subjectivity. This insight is used to draw attention to the realm of language, which is a crucial factor in the emergence of any utterance about the structure of our reality. This way of speaking is recognised as essentially narrative, which means that the story must be used as the fundamental unit of language. The narrative method can also be used to intervene in the field that makes its existence possible in the first place. This paper will therefore first analyse texts by Gayatri Spivak, Roberto Calasso and Michel Foucault. These texts will be interpreted from the point of view of the philosophy of stories, which first emerged with the writings of Wilhelm Schapp. It will turn out that these stories bring language closer to its authentic understanding – namely, as a pure multiplicity of contingent stories. To achieve this, we need to apply our narrative method.
Alija Nametak and Almin Kaplan are two writers of Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature. Their prose work is defined by two separate historical periods. Alija Nametak`s prose originated in the 1930s, ...retaining a realistic poetic framework of storytelling and thematically entering into historical strife, folklore, and social relations amalgamated into the patriarchal way of life of Bosniak rural communities in Herzegovina. On the other hand, Almin Kaplan creates in the cultural climate of the first decades of the 21st century, combining poetic and prose expression in his literary work. Kaplan's literary world built on post-war actuality realistically depicts Bosnian society and convincingly portrays a man sandwiched between the magma of dreams and harsh reality, at the crossroads of personal and collective values, in a time of economic transition, unemployment, broken ethical values, and new globalist movements, but still burdened by the war trauma of the 1990s. Although they are separated by almost the whole century, Alija Nametak and Almin Kaplan can be connected by certain similarities that will be the backbone of this research: woven into the Herzegovinian ambiance with all its geographical, historical, social, and cultural conditions, both draw their literary motifs from the socio-cultural landscape of Herzegovina, which is a stage for small human stories and universal truths. The research corpus of this paper will be based on the novel Meho (2019) and the collection of short stories Dubravske priče (2020) by Almin Kaplan and several short stories from the collection Trava zaboravka (1966/1998) by Alija Nametak.
Texts with the elements of mythic language are often those in which symbolic values are found and the transcribed and hidden meanings in everything which seems quite commonly and daily. The motives in artistic and folk fairy tales are often attributed with means of one dimensionality, but in the selective use of these motifs there are hidden values and significance which can be interpreted through detailed research and understanding the meaning context of fairy tales. This paper is based on the idea that the author of the Story of Long Ago in her fairy tales used motifs and meanings spectrum which is applied to the flora of Slavic mythology. The use of specific specimens of flora carries symbolic and meaningful functions within which that can be detected by studying the corpus of mythical motifs and elements that were inherited in Slavic mythology and ethnobotanics.
Andrić’s Bosnia is the area that the author portraits in its variety of life and distinctive situations occurring in the private and public sphere: as the protagonists act people from different ...social classes, nationalities and denominations. Therefore, great narrative work of Ivo Andrić offers the possibility of classification and selection according to the different criteria. The paper shall analyze some of the thematic and stylistic aspects in The Friar’s Stories (ten Andrić’s short stories written in the period from 1923 to 1951 with the Bosnian friars acting as the main protagonists).
Raščlamba obuhvaća slovopisnu, pravopisnu, fonološku, morfo(no)lošku, sintaktičku i leksičku razinu.
Orthographic, grammatical and lexical norms at the beginning of the 20th century in Croatia were codified by normative works largely in line with the concepts of the Croatian Vukovians, grounding their linguistic views on the works of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. The language practice, however, still retained certain older distinctive linguistic features typical of the Zagreb School of Philology. The paper analyses Croatian Tales of Long Ago from that perspective, as a document of the state of the language and orthography at the time. The starting point of the research is the third edition dated 1926, the last one published during the author's life, also authorised. Having in mind opposite language conceptions, certain linguistic peculiarities of this edition are pinpointed, focusing primarily on the changes caused by language policy and introduced in relation to the previous manuscripts, typed versions and two printed versions (the critical edition of 2011 lists all the differences between them), but also including other relevant features. Linguistic analysis includes orthographic, phonological, morpho(no)logical, syntactic and lexical levels.
Man uses different techniques and tools in order to help himself or others and enhance the quality of life. This paper assumes that stories and visual metaphors are soul-healing if honest, encouraging, consoling and inspiring, thus aiding man in overcoming different psychological and existential problems. Special emphasis is placed on the healing powers of film stories and cinematherapy which is increasingly used as a supporting technique in various psychotherapies and is a successor of bibliotherapy which is still frequently used in logotherapy. That line of psychotherapy founded by Viktor Frankl attempts to provide an answer to the question of existential emptiness that ails the modern man more often and it occurs due to the impossibility of discovering meaning. This paper tries to answer the question how film stories, often evolving around existential matters (who am I, where do I come from and where am I going) can aid the persons struggling with making sense out of their own life and problems of suffering, freedom and responsibility as well as which films to suggest to clients in logotherapy practice (as well as other psychotherapies).
