Regional student organizations are essential for student development and fostering regional peer relationships. However, regional student organizations faced challenges in management due to the lack ...of digitization such as in the proposal’s approval, work programs submission, and accountability reports. With these challenges, the development of information systems was essential for simplifying regional student organization management and increasing member participation and involvement. This research focused on the information system design stage, which includes database design and interface design where the goal is to design an information system for student organizations in Kendal area using Node.js technology and Next.js frameworks that use the System Development Life Cycle with a waterfall model for the research method. Next.js is a popular framework that simplified web application development with server-side rendering and static site generation, enhancing system performance and reliability. In conclusion, the design of a Web-Based Management Information System for Student Organizations in Kendal Regency using the Next.js framework successfully incorporated various system components, including Unified Modelling Language diagrams, Entity-Relationship Diagrams, system architecture, and user interface design. The future research should focus on the development and implementation on the proposed system for further improvement of student organizations management in Kendal District.
Graduate nurses must be able to manage oncologic emergencies to ensure best patient outcomes. Many oncologic emergencies are unexpected and nurse educators cannot plan for them in the clinical ...setting. Active teaching strategies must be developed to prepare students with appropriate nursing oncology knowledge and skills. There is limited evidence that the use of simulation in prelicensure nursing curricula increases students' knowledge, confidence, and competence related to clinical emergencies. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the effect of simulation-based experiences (SBEs) involving patient and family member standardized participants (SPs) on baccalaureate nursing students': 1) confidence and competence (objective and self-perceived), 2) anxiety and self-confidence with clinical decision-making, and 3) satisfaction and self-confidence in learning using SBEs with SPs related to oncologic emergency management within a seminar-style course. A longitudinal, one-group, convergent mixed-methods design with questionnaire variant was used. A convenience sample of 25 senior baccalaureate nursing students participated in this study. Participants engaged in two 20-minute SP simulation scenarios, followed by a 40-minute structured debriefing. The overall goal of the simulations was to recognize and provide appropriate evidence-based nursing care for an oncologic emergency and provide appropriate communication and support to the patient and family member. Data were collected pre-seminar, pre-simulation, and post-simulation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and one-way repeated measures analysis of variance. Qualitative responses to open-ended questions were analyzed using conventional content analysis. There was a significant increase in students' confidence and self-perceived competence; and a significant decrease in anxiety and increase in self-confidence in clinical decision-making related to nursing management of oncologic emergencies over time. All seven student groups in the hypercalcemia SBE, and five student groups in the hypersensitivity reaction SBE demonstrated objective competence. Qualitative themes included: realism, critical thinking, and benefits. This was one of the first studies to examine the effectiveness of SP simulation in a seminar-style nursing course for the application of oncology content. The findings support integration of simulations that provide opportunities to practice knowledge and skills required to effectively manage an oncologic emergency and supports feasibility and efficacy of incorporating simulation into seminar-style courses. The inclusion of family-centered care increases realism and complexity. Future research is needed to address the limitations of this study and expand the empirical evidence related to simulation and oncology content.
This study aims to analyze gender mainstreaming in student organizations from the basic aspects, student understanding, and policy implementation in several Islamic religious universities. This ...research is normative-empirical. This study found that implementing gender mainstreaming in student organizations was not optimal from the legal aspect, student understanding, and implementation. From the legal aspect, they have not included a philosophical foundation with the value of gender justice and equality, have not made a wise local academic culture the basis for sociological considerations, and have not included a juridical basis related to the acceleration of gender mainstreaming. From the aspect of student understanding of gender, it is still very low, which is indicated by the composition of the Intra-Campus Student Organization (OMIK) in strategic positions dominated by men. And from the aspect of implementation, it has not been optimal due to among others the commitment of the academic community to the enforcement of gender-responsive policies is still low and the activities in the field of student affairs that are carried out are not based on gender analysis.
This meta-analytic review examines the relationships between students' sense of school belonging and students' motivational, social-emotional, behavioural, and academic functioning in secondary ...education. Moreover, it examines to what extent these relationships differ between different student groups (grade level, SES), measurement instruments, and region. The meta-analysis included 82 correlational studies, published in peer-reviewed journals between 2000 and 2018. Results revealed, on average, a small positive correlation with academic achievement, and small to moderate positive correlations with motivational outcomes such as mastery goal orientations; with social-emotional outcomes such as self-concept and self-efficacy; and with behavioural outcomes such as behavioural, cognitive, and agentic engagement. A small negative correlation is observed with absence and dropout rates. Similar results are found across different student groups (grade level, SES). Although the results vary to some extent across measurement instruments and region, generally, the results reveal that school belonging plays an important role in students' school life.
The rapid spread of new coronaviruses throughout China and the world in 2019-2020 has had a great impact on China's economic and social development. As the backbone of Chinese society, Chinese ...universities have made significant contributions to emergency risk management. Such contributions have been made primarily in the following areas: alumni resource collection, medical rescue and emergency management, mental health maintenance, control of staff mobility, and innovation in online education models. Through the support of these methods, Chinese universities have played a positive role in the prevention and control of the epidemic situation. However, they also face the problems of alumni's economic development difficulties, the risk of deadly infection to medical rescue teams and health workers, infection of teachers and students, and the unsatisfactory application of information technology in resolving the crisis. In response to these risks and emergency problems, we propose some corresponding solutions for public dissemination, including issues related to medical security, emergency research, professional assistance, positive communication, and hierarchical information-based teaching.
Participatory design-based research continues to expand and challenge the "researcher" and "researched" paradigm by incorporating teachers, administrators, community members, and youth throughout the ...research process. Yet, greater clarity is needed about the racial and political dimensions of these collaborative research projects. In this article, we focus on how race and power mediate relationships between researchers and communities in ways that significantly shape the process of research. Using the notion of politicized trust as a conceptual lens, we reflect on two distinct participatory design projects to explore how political and racial solidarity was established, contested, and negotiated throughout the course of the design process. Ultimately, this article argues that making visible how race and power mediate relationships in design research is critical for engaging in ethical and sociopolitically conscious relationships with community partners and developing theoretical and practical knowledge about the repertoires of practice, tasks, and sociocultural competencies demanded of university researchers.

On Sep 4, 2016, Hong Kong's voters went to the polls to elect the 70 members of its legislature, known as the Legislative Council or LegCo. The election results largely maintained the existing ...distribution of power between democratic and pro-Beijing (or pro-establishment) forces. But the vote also reflected the emergence of increasing divisions within each of these camps and especially the rise of localism, a new political tendency that seems poised to dramatically transform Hong Kong's political landscape. Since the transfer of sovereignty from Britain to China almost twenty years ago, on Jul 1, 1997, politics in Hong Kong has been shaped by the struggle over how to implement the "one country, two systems" formula. In reaction, Hong Kong student organizations launched a boycott of academic classes and staged a strike outside government headquarters. When police attacked these students with tear gas, public outrage sparked large-scale protests that merged with those of the civil-disobedience movement for universal suffrage known as Occupy Central with Love and Peace.
How prevalent are Republican and Democratic student groups, and why are some schools home to Republican and Democratic student groups while other schools are not? Some commentators and scholars ...suggest that Republican student groups may be less prevalent than Democratic student groups and, when present, will likely be found at “red schools” (rather than “blue schools”) in Republican‐leaning areas of the country. However, other scholars argue that both Republican and Democratic student groups should be similar in their overall prevalence and located at a similar set of “engaged schools” (as opposed to “unengaged schools”). Analyzing our original database of Republican and Democratic student organizations across 1,953 four‐year, not‐for‐profit U.S. colleges and universities, we first show that Republican student groups are nearly as common as Democratic student groups: Republican student groups can be found at 39% of campuses, while Democratic student groups are present on 40% of campuses. Employing binary and multinomial logistic regression analyses, we then show that Republican and Democratic student groups tend to be located at the same types of schools, that is, larger, wealthier, public schools that offer political science majors. Our article holds significant implications for theorizing on student organization presence more generally.
While women represent approximately half of all medical students, only 38% of general surgery residents are women. The objective of this study is to explore how access to mentors and organizational ...support affects career choices.
In June of 2016, a survey was sent to medical students at a single institution (n = 472). Questions utilized a 5-point Likert scale. A two-sample t-test was used to evaluate data.
A total of 160 students participated in the survey. Among MS1/MS2 students, women were more likely to rank same-sex role models as a positive influence (mean 3.1 vs. 2.4; p < 0.05). Similar results were seen among MS3/MS4 students (mean 3.6 vs. 2.5; p < 0.05). More women ranked the presence of organizations that support women in surgery as being important (mean 4.6 vs. 4.1; p < 0.05).
Exposure to same-sex mentors was highly rated among female participants. These findings encourage the creation of national mentorship programs. Early involvement in organizations can positively influence career choice. Addressing gaps in mentorship opportunities and widening accessibility to national organizations are important in reducing barriers.
