Academic and theoretical foundations of Slovenian emigration research were set at the University of Ljubljana in the 1930s. In the 1960s, more systematic, complex and multi-disciplinary Slovenian ...emigration research began to develop. As part of this process, Slovenian Migration Institute was established in 1982. The book was conceived upon the 30th anniversary of the Institute's affiliation to ZRC SAZU. Besides the Institute's researchers, some other scholars were invited to contribute chapters, especially members of younger generations who tend to test most up-to-date research approaches and treat their themes from new or under-researched angles. The central part of the book is thus thematically divided into three sections: “Selected aspects of Slovenian emigration research”, “Approaches, methods, categorisation”, and “Topical issues”. With such thematic structure and contents, the book is primarily aimed at touching upon some new questions concerning the present state and future development of Slovenian emigration research, taking into account contemporary international trends in migration studies as well as some specificities pertaining to Slovenian emigration.

The purpose of the monograph Crossroads of Orthography which aims, as did its predecessor Junctures of Orthography (2012), to present arguments for additions and changes to normative rules – is to ...encourage normative and orthographic activities in Slovenian linguistic society. In the 20th century, these activities were intensified only after publication of normative guides called “pravopis” and during polemical discussions that accompanied the results. With both monographs, we want to encourage public debate before the publication of the new normative guide and also to find answers to the language and normative difficulties, which are not problematic only in terms of linguistics and orthography, but also within the wider social environment. In six thematic sections of the monograph, 26 authors of 22 articles deal with specific normative issues (capitalization and punctuation) as well as with other topics on different levels of grammatical description – phonology, morphology and word formation. The problems of orthography in other, often non-linguistic fields are discussed. In the last two parts of the monograph, the problems of lexicographic approaches to orthography and its relation to language culture are considered.
The monograph Drobci ledenodobnega okolja (“Fragments of Ice Age environments”) presents a compilation of seventeen chapters in which experts from different scientific fields discuss specific topics ...related to the Ice Age in Europe. Ten of them are devoted to the presentation, analysis and interpretation of palaeontological data concerning various large mammal species ranging from mastodon and mammoth to the cave hyena, ibex, cave lion and bears, with the emphasis being placed on the cave bear. Several chapters address the topic of Last Glacial climatic conditions in the Southeastern Alps by studying fossil micromammal and palaeobotanical remains as well as geoarchaeologiocal data. A special article is devoted to a comprehensive review of previous analysis of the bone flute from Divje babe I, but includes also new musicological research findings on the extraordinary technical capabilities of this oldest musical instrument. The concluding chapter presents a study of old manuscripts and printed sources, providing some interesting insights into the discovery of one of the most significant palaeontological sites in Slovenia - the cave of Mokriška jama. The monograph is dedicated to the anniversary of the prominent researcher of the Slovenian Palaeolithic - Ivan Turk.
