The celebration of Giovanni Battista Giorgini’s catwalk show in February 1951 aims to give the historical relevance of an event that wasn’t just an episode, but the result of long and established ...relations, especially with America. It revealed also an international attitude expressed by Italian fashion practitioners long before Italian fashion was officially recognised. For this reason, some narratives around the different processes of “emancipation from Paris” deserve to be scrutinized in more nuanced narratives. The archive of seamstress and then couturière Elvira Leonardi Bouyeure (1906-1999), aka Biki, offers one of those narratives.
It is traditionally accepted that the critical heat flux (CHF) decreases with increasing nucleation site density (NSD). However, such a CHF-NSD relation was no longer observed in the BETA-B ...experiment performed on nano-film heaters; instead the increase of NSD resulted in a gain in CHF. To address this seeming contradiction in the relation between critical heat flux and nucleation site density, the present work employed probabilistic analysis to reveal the different tendencies. A concept of effective NSD was proposed, which concerns the active nucleation sites appear within a bubble lifetime, and the resulting bubbles have the chance of direct interaction. We assumed that the boiling crisis on a heater surface is mainly induced by two mechanisms: dry spot expanding in isolated bubble regime for low-NSD surface, coalescence of dry spots under multiple bubbles in fully developed nucleate boiling regime for high-NSD surface, or a combination of the two in the transition regime for medium-NSD surface. Accordingly, we estimated the critical heat flux of each boiling regime at which the boiling crisis occurs. The result indicated that there is a threshold of nucleation site density below which the increase of NSD is contributing to CHF enhancement, while the trend is inverted beyond the threshold.
This paper deals with the role of brands in the emergence of the Italian fashion business. Starting from the mid-1950s, the main Italian clothing manufacturer Gruppo Finanziario Tessile (GFT) managed ...brands to build a domestic market for mass-produced clothing. In the 1970s increasing competition and changing consumption patterns pushed GFT towards partnerships with leading fashion designers for building new brands and entering international markets. The emergence of strong designers' brands determined major organisational challenges that resulted in opposite outcomes: the demise of GFT, which failed in its attempt to control the entire value chain, and designers' achievement of an international standing in the fashion industry thanks to improved brand management capabilities.
Namen prispevka je prikazati možnost kombiniranja različnih matematičnih metod za analiziranje sestave krmnih obrokov v danih okoliščinah. Z matematičnimi modeli, ki temeljijo na omejeni ...optimizaciji, smo proučevali cenovno-stroškovna razmerja v obdobju 1998 do 2008 in iskali morebitne spremembe v sestavi racionalnih krmnih obrokov za goveje pitance. Za analizo smo uporabili normativne in pozitivne matematične metode. S pomočjo klasičnega linearnega programa, nadgrajenega s tehtanim ciljnim programom, smo izvedli normativno analizo. Da bi ugotovili, kako bi se v danih razmerah odločal povprečen rejec, pa smo simulacijo izvedli tudi s pozitivnim matematičnim programiranjem. Dobljeni rezultati kažejo, da se je sestava racionalnega krmnega obroka v zadnjih desetih letih nagnila v prid koruzne silaže, izrazito pa se je zmanjšala količina travne silaže v obroku. Zaradi naravnih danosti v Sloveniji take spremembe niso izvedljive, zato bomo morali več pozornosti posvetiti zniževanju stroškov pridelave travne silaže.
