Konya Halkevi, TBMM'de 8 Ağustos 1951 tarihinde kabul edilen ve 11 Ağustos 1951 tarihinde Resmî Gazete'de yayınlanarak yürürlüğe giren 5830 sayılı kanun ile Türkiye genelindeki bütün halkevleri gibi kapatılarak malları hazineye devredilmiştir. Bu süreç ülke genelinde olduğu gibi Konya’da da çeşitli tepkilere ve spekülasyonlara sebep olmuştur. Bazı aydınlar halkevlerinin faydalı hizmetleri üzerinde durmuş ve bu kuruma yapılan çeşitli suçlamaları cevaplamıştır. Ancak üzerinde en çok konuşulan konu halkevi binaları ve bu binalarda bulunan kitap, mobilya gibi eşyaların nasıl değerlendirileceği hakkında olmuştur. Halkevlerinin kapatılması şüphesiz ki Türkiye tarihinin önemli olayları arasındadır. Çalışmanın amacı, 1932-51 tarihleri arasında Türkiye’nin kültür hayatında çok önemli bir rol oynamış halkevlerinin kapatılma kararı ve devamındaki süreçte yaşanan gelişmeleri ve tepkileri Konya ili örneğinde ortaya koymak ve Türkiye yakın tarihinin bu önemli değişimine ışık tutmaktır. Bu sayede halkevi ve Cumhuriyetin ilk yılları ile ilgili araştırma yapan bilim insanlarına katkıda bulunulacaktır. Çalışma hazırlanırken halkevlerinin kapanma sürecine girdiği ve tasfiye edildiği süreçte Konya’da yayımlanan gazeteler taranmış, halkevi ile ilgili haber ve yazılar tespit edilmiş, nitel araştırma yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. ABSTRACT: Community Center in Konya, Turkey on February 19, 1932 opened one of the first fourteen community center. Since its establishment, it has been involved in education, culture and art activities and has provided many services to Konya from literacy courses to theater and conferences. Konya Community Center, on August 8, 1951 closing goods such as Parliament adopted on August 11, 1951 and the date of its publication in the Official Gazette enacted by Law No. 5830 of all community centers across Turkey have been transferred to the treasury. This process caused various reactions and speculations in Konya as well as throughout the country. Some intellectuals emphasized the useful services of the community centers and answered various accusations made to this institution. However, the most talked about subject has been on the community center buildings and how to evaluate the items such as books and furniture in these buildings. Closure of Community Centers is undoubtedly among the most important events in the history of Turkey. The purpose of the study is finding out the developments and reactions experienced after the closure of Community Centers which has played a very important role in Turkey's cultural life between 1932-1951. This will shed light on this important change in Turkey's recent history. In this way, contribution will be made to the scientists doing research on the Community Centers and the first years of the Turkish Republic. While the study was being prepared, the newspapers published in Konya during liquidation, when the community centers entered the process of closure and were liquidated, were scanned, the news and articles about the Community Center were determined and evaluated with qualitative research method.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a complex intervention that seeks to improve the functional capacity, wellbeing and health-related quality of life of patients with heart disease. A substantive evidence ...base supports cardiac rehabilitation as a clinically effective and cost-effective intervention for patients with acute coronary syndrome or heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and after coronary revascularization. In this Review, we discuss the major contemporary challenges that face cardiac rehabilitation. Despite the strong recommendation in current clinical guidelines for the referral of these patient groups, global access to cardiac rehabilitation remains poor. The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a further reduction in access to cardiac rehabilitation. An increasing body of evidence supports home-based and technology-based models of cardiac rehabilitation as alternatives or adjuncts to traditional centre-based programmes, especially in low-income and middle-income countries, in which cardiac rehabilitation services are scarce, and scalable and affordable models are much needed. Future approaches to the delivery of cardiac rehabilitation need to align with the growing multimorbidity of an ageing population and cater to the needs of the increasing numbers of patients with cardiac disease who present with two or more chronic diseases. Future research priorities include strengthening the evidence base for cardiac rehabilitation in other indications, including heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, atrial fibrillation and congenital heart disease and after valve surgery or heart transplantation, and evaluation of the implementation of sustainable and affordable models of delivery that can improve access to cardiac rehabilitation in all income settings.
BackgroundLittle is known about factors influencing HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) utilization among young urban transgender women (TW), transgender men (TM) and men who have sex with men (MSM), ...who are disproportionately affected by HIV. This prospective pilot study explores PrEP adherence and persistence among these traditionally underserved communities in primary care clinics located in community centers serving LGBTQ youth.MethodsTo examine factors related to PrEP outcomes, we established a cohort of PrEP-eligible young TW, TM and MSM at two clinics located in LGBTQ community centers and followed participants monthly. We measured tenofovir diphosphate levels at 12 weeks to assess adherence, defined as having a value >700 fmol/punch. Persistence was defined as picking up 2 refills during 12 weeks of follow up. Multivariate analysis will be used to describe associations between demographic, behavioral, social, and clinical characteristics and outcomes.ResultsOf the 50 participants, 25 were TW, 6 TM and 19 MSM. ∼75% were African American, ∼10% white and ∼5% Hispanic/Latino; average age 24.18. Results to date shows 27% adherence and 55% persistence. Taking hormones at baseline was inversely related to PrEP persistence, Relative Risk=0.67 (0.39–1.15) p=0.14. The trend is similar for adherence, RR=0.65 (0.20–2.1), p=0.48.ConclusionCombining gender affirming hormones and PrEP in community spaces for LGBTQ youth is a novel approach to engage a traditionally hard-to-reach population. While initial data shows low PrEP outcomes, the relatively high number of patients remaining in care (84%) demonstrates an opportunity to improve adherence and clinical outcomes. We observed that integrating hormone therapy with PrEP administration did not positively impact outcomes, suggesting that other factors (e.g. homelessness, trauma) are important. These findings indicate the need to develop interventions designed to address these factors while continuing to integrate PrEP with gender affirming services.DisclosureNo significant relationships.

Amasya'da çıkarılan dergilerden biri olan Yeşilırmak dergisi, Amasya'nın o dönemdeki seyrini ortaya koyması açısından önemli olmuş ve yayın hayatı boyunca cumhuriyet düşüncesini toplumun bütün fertlerine ulaştırma görevini üstlenmiştir. Dergide, Amasya ile ilgili yazıların yanında Türk inkılâbı, dil ve edebiyat yazıları da yer almıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, derginin o dönem içerisindeki yeri ve diǧer dergilerden farkını ortaya koymaktır.

In the midst of current debates about the accessibility of public spaces, resurfacing as a result of highly visible demonstrations and occupations, this book illuminates an overlooked domain of civic ...participation: the office, workshop, or building where activist groups meet to organize and plan acts of political dissent and collective participation. Author Nandini Bagchee examines three re-purposed buildings on the Lower East Side that have been used by activists to launch actions over the past forty years. The Peace Pentagon was the headquarters of the anti-war movement, El Bohio was a metaphoric "hut" that envisioned the Puerto Rican Community as a steward of the environment, and ABC No Rio, appropriated from a storefront sign with missing letters, was a catchy punk name that appealed to the anarchistic sensibility of the artists that ran a storefront gallery in a run-down tenement. In a captivating discussion of buildings and urban settings as important components of progressive struggles in New York City over more than a century, Bagchee reveals how these collectively organized spaces have provided a venue for political participation while existing as a vital part of the city's civic infrastructure. The "counter institution" explored in this book represents both a conceptual and a literal struggle to create a space for civic action in a city that is built upon real estate speculation. The author reveals the fascinating tension between the impermanence of the insurgent activist practices and the permanent but maintenance heavy aspects of architecture. The actors she vividly describes—the war resisters, the Puerto Rican organizers, the housing activists, the punks and artists—all seized the opportunity to create what are seen as "activist estates, " at a time and in a place where urban life itself was under attack. And now, when many such self- organized "activist" buildings are imperiled by the finance-driven real estate market that is New York City, this book takes stock and provides visibility to these under recognized citizens' initiatives. In 2012, the CDC Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program approved its first recognized organization. Since then, it has recognized 4,000+ organizations to deliver the National DPP lifestyle change ...program to 600,000+ participants at type 2 diabetes risk. This analysis examined data from 624,422 participants to determine the impact of 5 organization types on priority population outcomes: community centers, higher education, government, healthcare providers, and for-profit/insurers. Most participants (65.7%) enrolled in for-profit/insurer organizations. Community centers enrolled the highest percentage of participants who identified as Hispanic/Latino (20.8%) and Native Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander (3%), and government organizations the highest percentage of Black/African American (17.7%) and American Indian/Alaska Native participants (10.8%). Higher education organizations enrolled the highest percentage of Asian/Asian American participants (3.4%). Men primarily enrolled in for-profit/insurer organizations (25.3%), and those aged 65+ enrolled mainly in healthcare-based programs (30.6%). Time in the program is associated with type 2 diabetes risk reduction. Those enrolled in higher education organizations stayed in the program the longest, with a mean of 233 days. Community centers and government organizations, which lead in the enrollment of some priority populations, had means of 196 and 218 days, respectively. Native Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander participants stayed in community center programs above the mean of 226 days. In government organizations, Black/African American and American Indian/Alaska Native participants remained for an average of 227 and 219 days, respectively. Understanding which types of organizations better serve priority populations, and assisting them in recruitment and retention, is key to reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes among these groups and reducing disparities in outcomes.

Introduction
There is a dearth of studies examining the association between the use of community centers for older adults and psychosocial factors. Thus, our aim was to examine the association ...between the use of community centers for older adults and psychosocial factors (in terms of loneliness, perceived social isolation, and life satisfaction; also stratified by sex)—which is important for successful aging.
Methods/Design
Data were taken from a nationally representative sample—the German Ageing Survey—including older community‐dwelling individuals. The De Jong Gierveld tool was used to measure loneliness, the Bude and Lantermann tool was used to measure perceived social isolation, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale was used to quantify life satisfaction. Multiple linear regressions were used to evaluate the hypothesized associations.
Results
In the analytical sample, n equaled 3246 individuals (mean age was 75 years, 65–97 years). After adjusting for various socioeconomic, lifestyle‐related, and health‐related covariates, multiple linear regressions showed that the use of community centers was associated with higher life satisfaction among men (β = 0.12, p < 0.01), but not women. The use of community centers was not associated with loneliness or perceived social isolation for either gender.
Conclusions
The use of community centers was positively associated with satisfaction with one's own life among male older adults. Thus, encouraging older men to use such services may be beneficial. This quantitative study provides an initial basis for further research in this neglected area. For example, longitudinal studies are required to confirm our present findings.

Urban renewal districts have a relatively high concentration of elderly people. Open spaces are important for the elderly for enhancing social interaction and active aging. However, planning and ...design of open spaces tend to stress on the physical and safety needs of the elderly, while social needs are not frequently addressed. This study intends to identify whether the social needs of the elderly regarding the use of public open spaces in urban renewal districts are addressed in the standard planning and design guidelines which newly planned development and districts are often based upon. Eight focus groups were conducted in elderly community centers in two urban renewal districts in Hong Kong. The results indicate that elderly people consider ‘social and physical activities’, ‘community life facilities and services’ and ‘social network’, as well as a ‘clean and pleasant environment’ to be their most important needs. Thus, planners and designers should take into consideration these criteria for enhancing the social well-being of the elderly and active aging in public open spaces in urban renewal. Furthermore, it stresses that urban renewal districts are part of the elderly's past living experiences and established social networks, which is not the case in new developments and areas. As such, the users' actual needs should be elicited rather than perceived by planners and designers.
