Most of the patients with gastric cancer in China have been at the middle and advanced stages during diagnostic and treatment with poor prognosis overall. Perioperative radiotherapy, chemotherapy, ...immune therapy and other comprehensive treatment methods for gastric cancer patients preoperative and intraoperation may reduce tumor staging, increase the rate of surgical resection and prolong the time of patient survival. Perioperative comprehensive treatment has developed more than 30 years in China. Many results from relevant research were gotten combined with laying down the consensus and guidelines, and applied to clinic in recent years. With the emergence and development of new technologies and new strategies for comprehensive treatment, perioperative comprehensive treatment and conversion therapy will improve at much extent the rate of survival for gastric cancer patients in China.
Transformable liquid metal (LM)‐based materials have attracted considerable research interest in biomedicine. However, the potential biomedical applications of LMs have not yet been fully explored. ...Herein, for the first trial, the inductive heating property of gallium–indium eutectic alloy (EGaIn) under alterative magnetic field is systematically investigated. By virtue of its inherent metallic nature, LM possesses excellent magnetic heating property as compared to the conventional magnetite nanoparticles, therefore enabling its unique application as non‐magnetic agents in magnetic hyperthermia. Moreover, the extremely high surface tension of LM could be dramatically lowered by a rather facile PEGylation approach, making LM an ideal carrier for other theranostic cargos. By incorporating doxorubicin (DOX)‐loaded mesoporous silica (DOX‐MS) within PEGylated LM, a magnetic field‐driven transformable LM hybrid platform capable of pH/AFM dual stimuli‐responsive drug release and magnetic thermochemotherapy are successfully fabricated. The potential application for breast cancer treatment is demonstrated. Furthermore, the large X‐ray attenuation ability of LM endows the hybrid with the promising ability for CT imaging. This work explores a new biomedical use of LM and a promising cancer treatment protocol based on LM hybrid for magnetic hyperthermia combined with dual stimuli‐responsive chemotherapy and CT imaging.

An environmentally friendly approach for the treatment of an acid effluent was proposed in this study, and the comprehensive treatment of an acid effluent containing antimony and arsenic was ...initiated by selective reduction and evaporative crystallization. Antimony was selectively recovered from the effluent by reduction using iron powder as reductant. The effects of temperature, iron dosage, and stirring speed on the reduction process were investigated, and the mechanism of antimony reduction prior to arsenic reduction was also studied from the viewpoints of thermodynamics and kinetics. The changes in potential during the reduction process and the cyclic voltammetry of the effluent demonstrated that reduction of H3AsO4 to HAsO2 occurred more easily than that of the other components of the effluent. The comparative assessment of reduction by nano iron powder and the SEM-EDS analysis of reduction product indicated that the kinetics of arsenic reduction were poor. Therefore, antimony was reduced faster than arsenic and recovered prior to arsenic. The effluent after antimony removal was disposed by evaporative crystallization. After evaporative crystallization, most of the hydrochloric acid was recycled and arsenic in the effluent was crystallized.

Due to the chemodynamic and photothermal effects, cobalt sulfide quantum dots (CoS QDs) have a promising application prospect in tumor therapy. However, poor targeting and non-specific uptake limit ...their clinical application. To address these problems, a dual-targeting peptide/exosome/CoS QDs (PEP/Exo/CoS) was constructed to treat bladder cancer comprehensively. CoS QDs were firstly loaded into mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes by electrotransfection method. Transmission electron microscope and nano-flow cytometry showed that the diameter of exosome/CoS QDs was 50–120 nm. We further found that exosome/CoS QDs had excellent photothermal effects and stability, similar to CoS QDs. We then designed a dual-targeting peptide that can specifically bind both exosomes and bladder cancer cells. Targeting peptide modification promoted the specific binding of exosome/CoS QDs and delivery into cancer cells. Cell experiments showed that PEP/Exo/CoS specifically induced the increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentration in bladder cancer cells, but had no significant effect on transitional epithelial cells. In vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that PEP/Exo/CoS enabled remarkable anticancer properties through chemodynamic and photothermal effects. Moreover, PEP/Exo/CoS can significantly reduce the damage of CoS QD to normal tissues under laser irradiation. Our study provided a new method for the comprehensive treatment of advanced bladder cancer.

Background: Keratitis is an inflammatory eye disease frequently leading to complications, significantly decreased vision and visual disability. Common infectious agents include, in particular, ...aggressive Gram-negative microflora and opportunistic bacteria. The use of conventional antibacterial therapy does not guarantee a positive treatment effect. Infections caused by antibiotic-resistant germs frequently result in increased hospitalization rates with an increased length of inpatient stay at hospital and can cause severe corneal opacities. Formation of biofilms is a cause of increased antibiotic resistance. Purpose: To improve the efficacy of treatment of bacterial keratitis by integrating an adjunctive liposomal ozone-based solution into comprehensive treatment. Material and Methods: Forty-four patients (44 eyes) with bacterial keratitis, aged from 29 to 75 years, were involved in the study. Patients were divided into an ozone group of 21 patients and a control group of 23 patients. All patients were administered antibacterial therapy, mydriatics, desensibilizing agents, tissue preparations and vitamins. In addition, patients of the ozone group received an eye drop of ozone-based solution four times a day for 10 days. Results: The method allowed for a significant (р < 0.001) reduction in conjunctival discharge, mixed conjunctival injection, corneal edema and inflammatory response, leeading to a 3.3 ± 0.1 day reduction in the length of inpatient stay at the hospital. Conclusion: Utilizing a liposomal ozone-based solution as an adjunct to the comprehensive treatment of bacterial keratitis is a novel treatment method making it possible to accelerate corneal epithelization and reduction in inflammation, and to shorten the length of treatment.
A strong mutual relationship has been recognized between periodontal disease and malalignment of the dentition. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy oral condition for a long period of time and ...prevent recurrence of various undesirable oral conditions, it is thought that not only control of periodontal inflammation, but also control of occlusal power for stabilizing occlusion and dispersion of the occlusal force is essential. Furthermore, patients with advanced periodontitis, in addition to existing malalignment of the dentition, often have pathologic tooth migration (PTM), which leads to further malocclusion and secondary occlusal trauma, resulting in the progression of periodontitis.A 57-year-old woman diagnosed as having generalized chronic periodontitis with skeletal mandibular prognathism received orthodontic treatment with sagittal splitting of the mandibular ramus to improve the occlusal condition after the initial periodontal therapy, and periodontal surgery and prosthetic treatment were undertaken during the restraint treatment. These treatments resulted in improvement of the periodontal tissue health and stability of the dentition and occlusion. Thirteen years have passed since her first visit, and 6 years have passed since she received the supportive periodontal therapy (SPT), and the periodontal and occlusal stability are still well maintained. In a patient with chronic periodontitis and skeletal mandibular prognathism, comprehensive treatment, including orthodontic treatment with sagittal mandibular branch surgery and prosthetic treatment under thorough gingival inflammation control, was undertaken to achieve long-term periodontal health. We report a case in which we were able to maintain stable control of the periodontal condtion.
Rural domestic sewage treatment is crucial for improving rural living environment, controlling agricultural and rural pollution, and implementing the rural revitalization strategy. In this paper, we ...evaluated the achievements of rural domestic sewage treatment from the aspects of regulations and standards, treatment scale and technology, and environmental protection education, and analyzed the problems associated with treatment capacity, technology, standards, and operation and maintenance. Rural domestic sewage treatment should adapt to local conditions, focus on resource utilization, and be economical, convenient, and scientifically planned. Key tasks were proposed from the perspectives of treatment mode, technical process, resource utilization, and operating mechanism. The development path we proposed emphasizes systematic treatment and integration of all parties. Moreover, several countermeasures are suggested. Discharge standards should be formulated scientifically for rural domestic sewage as nitrogen and phosphorus in rural sewage needs to be reused for irrigation. Ecological and simple treatment of the rural domestic sewage should be promoted based on the economical and feasible principles. The market mechanism needs to be improved to promote the specialized trusteeship of rural sewage treatment.
