It proposes that a cihuacoatl tecuhtli and governor of Mexico-Tenochtitlan after the conquest, Motelchiuhtzin, baptized as Andres de Tapia, may have been behind the creation of the manuscript, which eventually reached Spain with Tapia's son, Hernando, when he traveled there to petition for the rights of his family. El articulo présenta la informacion historica existente acerca del periodo, de personas y motivos que podrian haber llevado a la creacion del llamado Codice Borbonico, uno de los manuscritos pictogrâficos nahuas mas importantes de la época colonial temprana. Se propone que el libro pintado fue mandado hacer por Motelchiuhtzin, bautizado como Andres de Tapia, cihuacoatl tecuhtli y gobernador de Mexico-Tenochtitlan después de la conquista, para que su hijo Hernando lo llevara a Espana a la corte de Carlos V para recibir los titulos de nobleza. Der Artikel fasst die verfügbaren historischen Daten zusammen, die zur Entstehung des Codex Borbonicus, einer der wichtigsten frühkolonialen Bilderhandschriften der Nahua, gefuhrt haben könnten. Die Untersuchung versucht zu rekonstruieren, welche Personen und Motive daran beteiligt waren. Die Autoren gelangen zu dem Ergebnis, dass Motelchiuhtzin, ein Mitglied des aztekischen Hochadels, cihuacoatl tecuhtli und Gouverneur von Mexiko-Tenochtitlan, als Auftraggeber hinter der Erstellung des Dokuments stehen könnte. Motelchiuhtzin wurde nach der spanischen Eroberung getauft unter dem Namen Andres de Tapia. Der Codex gelangte schließlich nach Spanien durch die Reise des Hernando de Tapia, dem Sohn des Motelchiuhtzin, welcher dort die Rechte seiner Familie einforderte.
Se evalúan las características formales y tecnológicas pertinentes de tres esculturas de piedra de rostros humanos con parálisis facial recuperadas en las inmediaciones de la Pirámide de la Luna en ...Teotihuacan. Estas singulares esculturas de piedra son consideradas en términos de la cronología relativa de los avances tecnológicos en este temprano centro urbano y religioso, permitiendo su amplia contextualización dentro del corpus escultórico de Teotihuacan. Otra escultura de piedra de un rostro humano con parálisis facial fue encontrada en la Calzada de los Muertos (Matos Moctezuma 1970, 1980). Sin embargo, estos hallazgos únicos no han sido considerados en detalle en los catálogos y estudios de las esculturas de piedra teotihuacanas. A pesar de haber sido recuperados en la superficie de la Plaza de la Luna, la mención de estos raros hallazgos está en gran medida ausente de las publicaciones sobre las extensas investigaciones arqueológicas llevadas a cabo en el complejo arquitectónico de la Pirámide de la Luna y sus alrededores desde la década de 1960. La falta de datos sobre el contexto arqueológico original y la cronología precisa de estos artefactos únicos presenta una grave limitación. Pertinent formal and technological characteristics of three stone sculptures of human faces with facial paralysis recovered from the vicinity of the Pyramid of the Moon at Teotihuacan are evaluated. These unique stone sculptures are considered in terms of the relative chronology of technological advances at this early urban and religious center, permitting the broad contextualization of these artifacts within the sculptural corpus of Teotihuacan. Another stone sculpture of a human face with facial paralysis was found on the Street of the Dead (Matos Moctezuma 1970, 1980). However, these unique finds have not been considered in detail in catalogs and studies of Teotihuacan stone sculptures. Despite having been recovered on the surface of the Plaza of the Moon, mention of these rare finds is largely absent from publications on the extensive archaeological investigations carried out in and around the Pyramid of the Moon Architectural Complex since the 1960s. The lack of data on the original archaeological context and precise chronology of these unique artifacts presents an important limitation. However, stylistic and technological studies in conjunction with consideration of these artifacts within the context of the visual communication system of Teotihuacan can provide important insights into the possible function and relative chronology of these exceptional sculptures. Dieser Text analysiert die einschlägigen stilistischen und technologischen Merkmale dreier Steinskulpturen von menschlichen Gesichtern mit Gesichtslähmung, die in der Nähe der Mondpyramide in Teotihuacan gefunden wurden. Diese können in Hinblick auf die relative Chronologie des technologischen Fortschritts innerhalb des skulpturalen Korpus von Teotihuacan kontextualisiert werden. Eine weitere Skulptur eines menschlichen Gesichts mit Gesichtslähmung wurde auf der Straße der Toten gefunden (Matos Moctezuma 1970, 1980). Jedoch sind diese einzigartigen Funde trotz ihrer Bergung an der Oberfläche der Plaza de la Luna sowohl in Katalogen und Studien über die Steinskulpturen von Teotihuacan als auch in den Publikationen über die archäologischen Untersuchungen des Architekturkomplexes der Mondpyramide kaum berücksichtigt worden. This paper analyzes the figure of the hurricane in the Totonac culture of the Gulf of Mexico, especially in Taj in, in its mathematical and geometrical forms expressed in the Flyers' Dance. I discuss how the Flyer dancers control the arrival and the movements of the hurricane with the dance. Las religiones de Mesoamérica presentan complejas cosmovisiones, o visiones del mundo, que son populadas de un sin fin de fuerzas de la naturaleza y de lo sobrenatural. Estas fuerzas pueden monstrar múltiples características y por eso, se identifican, a menudo, con agentes atmosféricos o elementos metereológicos. Este artículo quiere analizar la figura del huracán en la cultura totonaca de la Costa del Golfo, especialmente en el territorio de El Tajin, figura que se expresa en sus posibles formas matemáticas y geométricas en la Danza de los Voladores. Cet article, à la frontière entre histoire et anthropologie, est centré sur un dialogue entre quelques données appartenant au domaine de la Chine archaïque et le travail de Roberte Hamayon sur les ...chamanes sibériens. Deux aspects sont analysés dans ce dialogue. Nous avons abordé la pratique du comparatisme comme usage d’hypothèses en provenance d’un champ de recherche d’un autre domaine, ainsi que les difficultés auxquelles cette pratique expose. Après ce préalable, nous avons cherché à approfondir certaines facettes des rapports entre la société humaine et la nature dans la Chine archaïque. Nous examinons dans la première partie de l’article le chamanisme tel que décrit dans les travaux de Roberte Hamayon, de façon à montrer qu’un manque de référence anthropologique a pu conduire certains spécialistes de la Chine à des conclusions aventureuses. La seconde partie de notre travail, basé en grande partie sur nos recherches antérieures, revient sur le rôle joué par le roi dans les rapports homme-nature. Interviennent dans ces rapports des femmes qui peuvent être considérées comme « monnaie d’échange » entre le souverain et les dieux mâles de la nature. Au coeur de cette relation, la notion d’alliance, à laquelle les recherches de Roberte Hamayon nous ont rendu sensible, constitue un outil de compréhension fondamental dont nous illustrons ici quelques résultats.
This article is situated between history and anthropology, and is centered on a dialogue between ancient China and Roberte Hamayon’s work on Siberian shamans. What is at stake in this dialogue is twofold: first, the problem of further research in a given field by considering hypotheses that come from a different field; and second, the pursuit of observations concerning the relationship between human society and nature in ancient China. In the first part, we examine the notion of shamanism as described by Hamayon and its applicability to ancient China. This is to highlight that a lack of in-depth anthropological references led some sinologists to dubious conclusions. The second part, based on some of our previous studies, examines in more detail the relationship between man and nature. In this relationship, the king plays a fundamental role, but so too do women. These women can be considered as “go-betweens” who interact with the male gods of nature, the rivers and the mountains. At the heart of this relationship lies the important notion of exchange and alliance. Hamayon’s work introduced us to the problematics of alliances through Siberian societies and here we reveal the results of this inspiration.

Pour en souligner la fécondité, cet ...article procède en quatre temps. En l’abordant sous l’angle d’une « économie morale du jeu », il le rapproche et le contraste tout à la fois de l’Essai sur le don, de Marcel Mauss ; il illustre le mode d’articulation entre rite et jeu suggéré par la lecture croisée de ces deux ouvrages au travers d’une description des enjeux attachés à la célébration des rituels chez les Nuosu (Yi de Liangshan), dans le sud-ouest du Sichuan. Dans un deuxième temps, l’article continue à explorer les effets sociaux produits par le croisement de l’action rituelle, du jeu et du don en relisant les analyses de R. Hamayon à la lumière de Marcel Granet. La troisième partie contraste l’unité sémantique du champ considéré dans l’aire culturelle étudiée par R. Hamayon avec l’éclatement (au moins apparent) du vocabulaire du « jouer » en monde chinois ; et elle signale certaines pratiques récentes qui résonnent avec les intuitions développées dans l’ouvrage. La dernière partie s’appuie sur les Recherches philosophiques de Ludwig Wittgenstein pour esquisser quelques réflexions autour de l’articulation entre « jeu », « langage » et « pensée ».
Jouer (Why We Play: An Anthropological Study), by Roberte Hamayon, provides the reader with a specific focus on the mechanisms governing a whole facet of social interactions in the Asian world and beyond. To underline the fruitfulness of the approach developed by the book, this article proceeds in four stages. First, by approaching it from the angle of a “moral economy of play” it both associates and contrasts it with Marcel Mauss’s The Gift, and illustrates the articulation between rite and play suggested by a cross-reading of these two works through a description of the stakes attached to the ritual performances of the Nuosu (Yi of Liangshan) ethnic group in southwest Sichuan. Second, the article continues to explore the social effects produced by the intersection of ritual action, play, and gifts by rereading Hamayon’s analyses in light of Marcel Granet. The third part contrasts the semantic unity of the field in the cultural area studied by Hamayon with the (at least apparent) explosion of the vocabulary of games and playing in the Chinese world; and it points to some recent practices that resonate with the insights developed in the book. The final part draws on Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations to outline some reflections on the articulation between “play,” “language,” and “thought.”
