This study was carried out to determine the effect of short and long term applications of fluorogestone acetate vaginal sponges andnorgestomet ear implants on the fertility parameters on Damascus ...goats. Eighty eight multiparous goats, between 3-6 years of ages, having no fertility problem were randomly assigned to 4 groups as; long term sponge (LTS, n=22), short term sponge (STS, n=22), long term implants (LTI, n=22) and short term implants (STI, n=22). It was concluded that the estrous of the Damascus goats during the breeding season could be synchronized succesfully by the short or long term application of the FGA sponges and norgestomet implants with the combination of PMSG and PGF2alpha. No difference in the fertility parametersin the short or long term application were detected. Short term applications were found as succesful as long term applications. Therefore the short term applications were found to be more useful for the flexiblity of the usage in the field conditions.
Çalışma; üreme sezonunda Şami ırkı keçilerde, fluorogeston asetat (FGA) içeren vaginal sünger ve norgestomet içeren kulak altı implantların uzun ve kısa süreli kullanımlarının fertilite parametreleri üzerindeki etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla düzenlendi. Araştırmada; sağlıklı, en az bir doğum yapmış, yaşları 3 ile 6 arasında değişen 88 Şami keçisi kullanıldı. Keçiler uzun süreli sünger (USS, n=22), kısa süreli sünger (KSS, n=22),uzun süreli implant (USİ, n=22) ve kısa süreli implant (KSİ, n=22) olmak üzere rastgele 4 eşit gruba ayrıldı. Sonuç olarak aşım sezonunda FGA içeren vaginal sünger ve norgestomet içeren kulak implantlarının PMSG ve PGF2alfa ile kombine edilerek kullanımı ile östrüslerin başarılı bir şekilde senkronize edilebileceği kanaatine varıldı. Uygulamaların kısa (6 gün) veya uzun (14 gün) süreli olmasının fertilite parametrelerinde bir fark meydana getirmediği, kısa süreli uygulamalarının fertilite açısından uzun süreli uygulamalar kadar etkin olduğu, saha şartlarında yapılan uygulamalarda süre açısından daha avantajlı olduğu kanısına varıldı.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Double-Ovsynch protocol on various fertility parameters at different postpartum days in dairy cows. Fifty-one Holstein cows were used and allocated ...into 4 groups. Group 1, group 2 and group 3 each contained 12 cows on the 25th, 32nd and 39th day of postpartum (as considered day 0), respectively. Group 4 (n=15) served as control group that nothing was applied until 40th day of postpartum then artificial insemination was performed at observed estrus. Cows in groups 1-3 were treated with GnRH on day 0, PGF2alpha on day 7, GnRH on day 10, GnRH on day 17 and PGF2alpha on day 24. The injection of GnRH was applied 56 h after the second PGF2alpha injection and then timed artificial insemination (TAI) was performed at 16-20 h later (average 18th hour). The synchronisation rates changed between 66.67% and 91.67% in the study groups however a higher rate was observed in the groups 2 and 3. The lowest level of estrus symptoms at the TAI was seen in the groups 1-3 (P< 0.05). The highest pregnancy rate after the first TAI (58.33%) was obtained in groups 2 and 3. The highest cumulative pregnancy rate (91.67%) were observed in groups 1 and 2. In conclusion, Double-Ovsynch protocol beginning at the different days of postpartum in dairy cow may provide a good reproductive performance without estrus detection.
Bu çalışmada postpartum farklı günlerde uygulamaya başlanan Double-Ovsynch protokolünün çeşitli fertilite parametreleri üzerine olan etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma 51 adet Holstein ırkı inek üzerinde yürütüldü ve hayvanlar 4 gruba ayrıldı. Grup 1, grup 2 ve grup 3'ün her birinde bulunan 12 hayvan sırasıyla postpartum 25., 32. ve 39. günlerde bulunuyordu. Grup 4 kontrol grubu olarak değerlendirildi ve bu gruptaki hayvanlara (n=15) postpartum 40. güne kadar hiçbir uygulama yapılmadı, bu günden sonra östrus gösterenlere suni tohumlama işlemi uygulandı. Çalışma grubundaki ineklere ise 0. gün GnRH, 7. gün PGF2alfa, 10. gün GnRH, 17. gün GnRH ve 24. gün PGF2alfa uygulandı. PGF2alfa uygulamasından sonraki 56. saatte GnRH uygulaması yapıldı ve bunu takiben 16-20. (ortalama 18. saatte) saatlerde suni tohumlama işlemi uygulandı. Çalışma gruplarında senkronizasyon oranları %66.67 ile %91.67 arasında değişirken, grup 2 ve grup 3'de yüksek oranda senkronizasyon gözlendi. Çalışma grubundaki hayvanlarda ilk suni tohumlama sırasında çok az oranda östrus belirtileri gözlendi (P< 0.05). Çalışmada birinci tohumlamada en yüksek gebe kalma oranları (%58.33) grup 2 ve grup 3'de belirlendi. Kümülatif gebelik oranları en yüksek olarak (%91.67) grup 1 ve grup 2'de gözlendi. Sonuç olarak, ineklerde değişik postpartum dönemlerde başlanan Double-Ovsynch uygulaması ile östrus tespitine gerek kalmadan yüksek oranlarda reprodüktif performans elde edilebileceği belirlendi.
A total of 80 Hair goats, aged 12-16 months-old were used in the trial. Goats were divided equally into four groups (n=20 per group). Intravaginal progestagen sponges containing flugeston acetate (20 ...mg ) were inserted into the goats for 8 days in the KSS group (short-term) and for 12 days in the USS group (long-term). In the KSI (short-term) and USI (long-term) groups ear implants containing 3 mg norgestomet was administered for 8 or 12 days, respectively. Tiaprost tromethamol (PGF2 alpha; 0.294 mg) and PMSG (400 IU) were injected intramuscularly on the 7th day in the KSS and KSI groups, and on the 11th day in the USS and USI group following sponge or implant insertion. All goats were hand-mated once at the detection of estrus. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed on day 70 post mating by means of B-mode real time ultrasonography. The estrous response, the time to onset estrous, pregnancy rate, birth rate, gestation duration and litter size was 100%, 26.5±2.2 h, 50%, 100%, 148.0±0.75 d, and 1.0 in the KSS group, 100%, 30.6±2.2 h, 5%, 100%, 152.0 d and 1.0 in the USS group, 100%, 36.6±2.2 h, 61.1%, 100%, 147.7±0.79 d and 1.0 in the KSI group, and 100%, 28.8±1.8 h, 35%, 100%, 151.7±0.92 d and 1.0 in the USI group, respectively. No significant difference in term of estrous response between the groups was recorded. However, there were significant differences between groups KSI and USI in term of the time to onset estrus (P< 0.05). The pregnancy rates in the KSI and KSS groups were higher than in the USS groups (P< 0.05), but were similar with the USI group. It was concluded that short and long-term intravaginal sponge (flugeston acetate) and ear implants (norgestomet) treatments combined with PMSG and PGF2 alpha could be successfully used to induce the estrus in young goats in the non breeding season. However, the pregnancy rate was higher in the short-term (8 d, vaginal sponge or ear implant) estrus induction protocols compared to long-term (12 d, vaginal sponge or ear implant) protocols. Thereof, the short-term intravaginal sponge or ear implant treatments can be suggested for the estrus induction during non breeding season in young goats.
Araştırmada, yaşları 12-16 ay arasında değişen toplam 80 baş kıl keçisi kullanıldı. Keçiler; kısa süreli sünger (KSS), kısa süreli implant (KSİ), uzun süreli sünger (USS) ve uzun süreli implant (USİ) olmak üzere dört eşit gruba ayrıldı. Flugeston asetat içeren vaginal süngerler (20 mg); KSS grubundaki keçilere 8 gün süreyle, USS grubundaki keçilere ise 12 süreyle uygulandı. Norgestomet (3 mg) kulak implatı KSİ grubuna 8 gün, USİ grubuna ise 12 süre ile uygulandı. Tiaprost tromethamol (PGF2 alfa; 0.294 mg) ve PMSG (400 IU) KSS ve KSİ grubundaki keçilere vaginal sünger ya da implantların yerleştirilmesini takiben 7. günde, USS ve USİ grubundaki ise 11. günde kas içi enjekte edildi. Östrüsleri tespit edilen keçiler elde sıfat yöntemi ile çiftleştirildi. Gebelik teşhisi çiftleşmeyi takip eden 70. günlerde B-mode real time ultrasonografi ile gerçekleştirildi. Östrüs oranı, östrüs gösterme zamanı, gebelik oranı, doğum oranı, gebelik süresi ve yavru verimleri sırasıyla; KSS grubunda %100, 26.5±2.2 saat, %50, %100, 148.0±0.75 gün ve 1.0, USS grubunda %100, 30.6±2.2 saat, %5, %100, 152.0 gün ve 1.0, KSİ grubunda %100, 36.6±2.2 saat, %61.1, %100, 147.7±0.79 gün ve 1.0, ve USİ grubunda ise %100, 28.8±1.8 saat, %35, %100, 151.7±0.92 gün ve 1.0 olarak elde edildi. Gruplar arasında östrüs oranı, doğum oranı, gebelik süresi ve yavru verimleri arasında önemli bir farklılık belirlenmedi (P> 0.05). KSS ve USS gruplarında, östrüs gösterme zamanı açısından bir farklılık gözlenemezken (P> 0.05), KSİ ve USİ grupları arasındaki farklılık önemli bulundu (P< 0.05). KSİ ve KSS gruplarında elde edilen gebelik oranları USS grubundan daha yüksek (P< 0.05), ancak USİ grubu ile benzerdi. Sonuç olarak; üreme mevsimi dışındaki genç keçilerde, östrüslerin uyarılması için PMSG ve PGF2 alfa ile kombine edilen kısa (8 gün) ve uzun (12 gün) süreli flugeston asetat intra vaginal sünger ve norgestomet kulak implantı uygulamalarının başarılı şekilde kullanılabileceği görüldü. Bununla birlikte, kısa süreli vaginal sünger ya da kulak implantı uygulanan gruplarda elde edilen gebelik oranlarının, uzun süreli uygulamalara göre daha yüksek olması nedeniyle, üreme mevsimi dışındaki genç keçilerde östrüslerin uyarılması için kısa süreli vaginal sünger ya da kulak implatı uygulamalarının önerilebileceği kanaatine varıldı.
The efficiency of different progesterone and PGF2 alpha treatments in the induction of ovarian activity and synchronization of oestrus was investigated the beginning transitional period in sheep. A ...total of 75 ewes were used in the experiment. Animals were divided into 5 groups. Vaginal sponges containing either 30 mg or 40 mg fluorogestene acetate (FGA) were inserted into the vagina of ewes in the first (FGA-30; n=15) and second (FGA-40; n=15) groups, respectively. The sponges were withdrawn after 12 day. In the third group of ewes (n=15), ear implants containing 3 mg norgestomet (N-IMPLANT) were inserted subcutaneously and removed after 9 day. In the fourth group (n=15), Tiaprost tromethamine (PGF2 alpha; 0.294 mg) was intramuscularly injected twice at an interval of 9-d. The control (Control) group is consisted of 15 ewes. After the second PGF2 alpha injections and the withdrawal of the sponges and implants, 600 IU PMSG was injected to all ewes in the FGA-30, FGA-40, N-Implant and PGF2 alpha groups. After the detection of oestrus ewes, they were naturally mated. Oestrus response rates were significantly higher in the groups FGA-30 (93.3%), and N-IMPLANT (93.3%) than those in the groups PGF2 alpha (53.3%) and Control (26.6%). However, oestrus rates in the group FGA-40 were only significantly higher (86.6%) than those in the group Control (26.6%). The pregnancy rates in the groups FGA-30 (93.3%) and N-IMPLANT (93.3%) were significantly higher than that in the group PGF2 alpha (53.3%). No significant difference was observed among the groups FGA-30, FGA-40, N-IMPLANT and PGF2 alpha with respect to lambing rates. Multiple birth rates were significantly higher in the group N-IMPLANT (35.7%) than in the group PGF2 alpha (0.0%). As a conclusion, a double dosed application of PGF2 alpha was observed to be inefficient compared to different progesterone treatments in ewes the beginning transitional period.
Bu çalışmada, geçiş dönemi başındaki koyunlarda farklı progesteron ve PGF2alfa uygulamalarının, östrüs senkronizasyonu ve ovaryum aktivitesini uyarmadaki etkisi araştırıldı. Araştırmada toplam 75 koyun kullanıldı ve koyunlar 5 gruba ayrıldı. Birinci gruptaki koyunlara (n=15) 30 mg flourogesterone acetate (FGA-30), ikinci gruptaki koyunlara (n=15) 40 mg flourogestene acetate (FGA-40) içeren süngerler vagina içine yerleştirildi. Her iki gruptaki süngerler 12 gün sonra uzaklaştırıldı. Üçüncü gruptaki koyunlara (n=15) 3 mg Norgostomet içeren kulak implantı (N-İMPLANT) kulak derisi altına yerleştirildi ve 9 gün sonra uzaklaştırıldı. Dördüncü gruptaki koyunlara (n=15) Tiaprost tromethamine (PGF2alfa; 0.294 mg) 9 gün arayla iki kez kas içi yolla enjekte edildi. Beşinci grup (n=15) kontrol olarak oluşturuldu. Vaginal süngerlerin, implantların çıkarılmasını ve ikinci PGF2alfa enjeksiyonunu takiben tüm çalışma gruplarındaki koyunlara kas içi yolla 600 IU PMSG enjekte edildi. Östrüste oldukları belirlenen koyunlara doğal aşım yaptırıldı. Östrüs görülme oranları FGA-30 ve N-İMPLANT gruplarında (%93.3), FGA-40 grubunda (%86.6) ile PGF2alfa (%53.3) ve Kontrol (%26.6) gruplarına göre istatistiki açıdan önemli şekilde yüksek belirlendi. Gebelik oranları ise FGA-30 (%93.3) ve N-İMPLANT (%93.3) gruplarında, PGF2alfa (%53.3) grubuna göre belirgin olarak yüksek bulundu. Kuzulama oranı açısından deneme grupları arasında önemli bir farklılık gözlenmedi. Çoklu doğum oranı N-İMPLANT grubunda (%35.7), PGF2alfa (%0.0) grubuna göre belirgin olarak yüksek bulundu. Sonuç olarak, geçiş dönemi başındaki koyunlarda PGF2alfa'nın çift doz uygulanmasıyla farklı progesteron tedavileri kıyaslandığında PGF2alfa'nın yeterli cevap oluşturamadığı belirlendi.
In this study, it was aimed that to take the heifers which are not pregnant via insemination following ovsynch method to resynchronization protocols used progesterone and to determine the most ...appropriate method. Pregnancy rates after the ovsynch protocol were 37.5%, 52.9% and 54.5 in groups I, II and III, respectively. Oestrous rates of the heifers that did not become pregnant between days 20-27 after the insemination were 40% and 60% in groups I and III, respectively. Total pregnancy rates after the last insemination were 43.8%, 58.8% and 63.6% in groups I, II and III, respectively. In conclusion, it was determined that group II was more succesful than group I as numerically. It was concluded that usage of resenchronization methods will provide to keep the animals under control after the insemination, and shorten the parturition-pregnancy interval in cows.
Bu çalışmada, ovsynch yöntemiyle tohumlanan düvelerden gebe kalmayanlarının en kısa sürede gebe bırakılması için progesteron destekli resenkronizasyon protokollerine alınması ve bu yöntemlerden en uygununun belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Ovsynch yöntemiyle senkronizasyon sonucu gebelik oranları I., II. ve III. gruplarda sırası ile %37.5, %52.9 ve %54.5 olarak bulundu. Tohumlamadan sonraki 20-27. günler arasında gebe kalmayanların östrüs gösterme oranı I ve III. gruplarda sırası ile %40 ve %60 olarak belirlendi. Son tohumlama sonucu toplamda gebelik oranları %43.8, %58.8 ve %63.6 olarak tespit edildi. Sonuç olarak, karşılaştırılan resenkronizasyon protokollerinden II. grubun, I. gruba göre sayısal olarak daha başarılı olduğu tespit edildi. Resenkronizasyon protokollerinin kullanılmasının, tohumlamadan sonra hayvanların sürekli kontrol altında tutulmasını sağlanacağı, sağmal ineklerde de doğum-yeniden gebe kalma süresi kısaltacağı kanısına varıldı.
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of oestrus synchronization in two different periods on the reproductive performances of sheep under extensive production system. In this study, the ...estrus cycle of the ewes was synchronized in two different periods (before and during the mating season). This research was conducted on approximately 125 Kıvırcık sheep in breeders' farms and 8 Chios rams in Adnan Menderes University-Group Sheep Breeding Program (ADÜ-GKYP) flock for three years. The oestrus cycles of the ewes were synchronized with intravaginal progestagen sponges impregnated with 30 mg cronolone. After 14 days sponges were removed and the females received an intramuscular injection 500 IU (PMSG) and five or six ewes were mated with Chios rams. Before the introduction of rams, the ewes were weighed and body condition score (BCS) were determined only two years. This research was continued three years and detailed flocks recording were managed. Before and during the mating season the effect of hormonal synchronization on lamb production and the reproductive performances of sheep were determined and analyzed.
Bu çalısmada, iki farklı dönemde kızgınlık senkronizsayonun yetistirici kosullarında koyunların üreme performansları üzerine etkisini belirlemek amaçlanmıstır. Koyunların kızgınlık döngüleri iki farklı zamanda (üreme mevsiminden 1.5 ay önce ve üreme mevsiminde) senkronize edilmistir. Hayvan materyalini Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Grup Koyun Yetistirme Programı (ADÜ-GKYP) üyesi 2 yetistirici isletmesinde bulunan, her yıl yaklasık 125 bas Kıvırcık koyun ve ADÜ-GKYP üst sürüsündeki, 8 bas Sakız koç olusturmustur. Koyunlara 30 mg cronolone (progesteron) içeren süngerler 14 gün süreyle vaginal olarak takılmısıtır. Süngerler çıkarıldıktan sonra kas içi enjeksiyonla 500 IU PMSG kullanılarak kızgınlıklar toplulastırılmıstır. Koyunlar, Sakız koçlarla dogal çiftlesme yöntemi kullanılarak 5_6 koyuna bir koç düsecek sekilde gruplandırılarak çiftlestirilmistir. Asım öncesi koyunlar tartılarak canlı agırlıkları belirlenmis ve vücut kondüsyon puanlaması (VKP) iki yıl süre ile alınmıstır. Üç yıl devam edilen uygulamalarda, isletmelerde sürülerin ayrıntılı kayıtları tutulmustur. Çiftlesme mevsimi öncesi ve çiftlesme mevsiminde hormon uygulamanın, koyunlarda kuzu verimine etkileri, bu çalısmayla ortaya konulmustur.
The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of GnRH-PGF2A-GnRH, GnRH-PGF2, PGF2A-PGF2A-GnRH combination, and PGF2A and PGF2A regimens for pregnancy rate and prevention of early embryonic ...deaths in cows. Blood samples were collected on day 0, 4, 8, 12, 15, 18, 21 to determine plasma progesterone levels in all groups starting from the day of last applications. Plasma progesterone levels on day 0 were similar among the four groups for the pregnant and non-pregnant cows. On the other hand it was significantly higher in the pregnant cows than in the non pregnant cows on day 21. As a conclusion, GnRH-PGF2A-GnRH regime may provide better results than two injections of PGF2A for higher pregnancy and lower early ermbryonic deaths in cows.
İneklerde doğal aşım ya da suni tohumlama sonrası fertilizasyon oranının % 89-100 olmasına rağmen buzağılama oranının % 45-65 arasında olduğu bildirilmektedir (Roche ve ark 1981, Curran ve ark 1986, Noakes 1986, Youngquist ve Braun 1986, King 1991, Zavy 1994). Bu oransal kaybın % 10'unun fertilizasyonun olmaması, % 22'inin 21. günden önce meydana gelen erken embriyonik ölümler, % 6'sının 21-42. günler arasında meydana gelen geç embriyonik ölümler ve % 5'inin de 43-270. günler arasında oluşan abortuslar nedeniyle olduğu ifade edilmektedir (Noakes 1986, Sheldon 1997). Buzağılama oranlarındaki kayıpların büyük yüzdesini oluşturan embriyonik ölümlerin önemli nedenlerinden birinin corpus luteum'dan yetersiz progesteron hormonu salınımının olduğu (Kastelic 1994b), özellikle yüksek oranda embriyonik ölümle karşılaşılan sürülerde en önemli nedeni oluşturduğu belirtilmektedir (Noakes 1988, Flint 1992). Gebeliğin devamı için 15-17. günlerden itibaren corpus luteum'un fonksiyonunu sürdürmesi gerekmektedir. Bu nedenle sunulan çalışma embriyonik ölümlerin önlenmesinde bir tedavi seçeneği olan tohumlama sonrası 12. günde GnRH uygulamasının ineklerde fertilite üzerine etkisini belirlendi. Bu amaçla değişik yöntemlerle senkronize edilen ineklerde tohumlamayı takiben 12 gündeki GnRH uygulamalarının gebelik oranları arttırmakla kalmayıp, erken embriyonik ölüm oranlarını azalttığı, plazma progesteron seviyeleri, corpus luteum çaplarını etkilediği belirlendi.
