Hedoris - the standalone heterogeneous simulation system has been developed to support thermal simulations of heterogeneous devices. The heterogeneity of the simulation system comes from the variety ...of the software integrated in following packages: the Cadence embedded simulator Spectre uses the models generated by Matlab scripts driven by physical structure descriptions of real heterogeneous devices and device parts. This article reports the developed system and discusses its advancements and limits.

Service discovery deals with locating services which can be used to accomplish a task. For example discovering a printer to print documents on, or locating a shop offering the service of ...hairdressing. When you locate a service you usually obtain an address which you use to invoke the o.ered service. Here in this chapter we will start by looking at an example of service discovery from human life, with a short story of a pizza restaurant which o.ers the service of baking pizzas and see how customers can discover it. Next, we will have a look at how those methods from the pizza-story can be applied in computer networks. Finally, an introduction to UPnP is given as an example of a service discovery system.
In order to enhance the interoperability of device in EPA industry network control system, the characteristics of XDDL, the application flow and functions of EPA device description were discussed. ...The latest methods of XML parsing and the utilization efficiency of the device description data after being parsed were analyzed. A kind of parsing method and a double buffers technology used for device description data application were proposed. To evaluate the optimizing solution, the parsing methods were tested and compared. The test results indicated that the processing efficiency of EPA data parsing and application was improved. On the basis, the applying prospect of the optimizing solutions in CIMS and field device system was discussed.

Concurrently, standard, open and nonproprietary technologies, such as XML, SOAP, Web services and the like, have greatly evolved and been diffused in the computing area. This article presents a FOUNDATION fieldbus™ device description technology named Open-EDD, based on XML and other related technologies (XLST, Xerces, OO, XML Schema), proposing an open and non-proprietary alternative to the EDD (Electronic Device Description). This initial proposal includes defining the programming language of the technology in the Foundation fieldbus™ protocol, implementing a compiler and a parser, and finally, integrating and testing the new technology using field devices and a commercial fieldbus configurator.

Typical power consumption exclusive of programming logic for a 1024 × 8-bit core array is 57 mW plus 9.8 μJ per readwrite cycle and for a 4096 × 10-bit array is 72 mW plus 12.8 μJ per cycle. The 4096 × 10-bit array has been assembled as a dual-cycle 2048 × 20-bit memory and packaged using soldered cordwood modules. The time required for a single read-add-one-write cycle is 4 μs.
