This study investigated the effect of varied digital presentation tools (PowerPoint and Prezi) on the learning performance of students. The research focus was to evaluate how different presentation ...technologies used by class instructors affect the knowledge acquisition of students. A quasi experimental pre- and post-test control group design was adopted to fulfill the research purpose. The educational experiment was completed within 4 weeks. The participants were 78 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Taiwan. Students from three classes were divided into three treatment groups: PowerPoint instruction, Prezi instruction, and traditional instruction. Two quizzes (formative evaluation) directly related to learning units were administered to assess the immediate learning outcomes of the students after class. A learning achievement test (summative evaluation) was developed to measure the basic geographical knowledge of the students in a social science class. Two weeks after the summative evaluation was completed, the same learning achievement test with different item numbers (delayed summative evaluation) was employed to assess the long-term learning effects of the students. The results showed that Prezi was a more effective instructional medium for knowledge acquisition compared with traditional instruction. PowerPoint demonstrated instructional effectiveness on only the long-term learning retention of the students compared with traditional instruction. However, no significant difference was observed among the three types of tests in Prezi and PowerPoint instruction.

In academia, funding for conference attendance is limited, and both students and early-career researchers are therefore only able to attend a limited number of conferences. This means that, ...typically, researchers need to choose between attending multiple local and, at times, more affordable conferences, or one or two large, expensive, international conferences. Local and less expensive conferences may be research-specific but will have a smaller audience and lower networking potential. In biological anthropology and bioarchaeology, the majority of these larger annual conferences are held in North America and Western Europe where travel and accommodation costs can be very high for those outside of these regions. These costs, in addition to visa restrictions, reduce the diversity of participants at academic conferences, skewing attendance to students and researchers from the host countries. Not only does this disadvantage individuals outside of the typical host-countries, but it also limits the breadth of academic dialogue, with inclusion in academic conferences determined all too often by financial resources rather than academic value. This paper discusses the demographics and lack of diversity at some of these large conferences and the factors that are known to limit international conference travel. It then presents the benefits of digital presentation methods using Digital Dilemma 2018 as a case study for how digital presentation methods can be combined with physical presentations at minimal cost and time. We hope that this will encourage more conferences to offer a digital presentation option in the future.
Introduction: Final year examinations for postgraduate residents of medical colleges in India were scheduled according to a defined protocol where doctor patient relationship was given utmost ...importance. Due to the currently prevailing pandemic, it has become extremely unsafe to conduct such an examination. So, an innovative method was devised by the Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Srinagar to ensure safety of the examiners and candidates as well as maintaining the required standard of the examination. This method was employed successfully in conducting exit examinations of final year postgraduate residents in this department. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness by a preformed questionnaire (developed by the faculty of Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Srinagar), Jammu and Kashmir, India of virtual pattern for exit examinations of final year postgraduate residents of medical colleges in India. Materials and Methods: A total number of 10 candidates appeared in the final year (MS Orthopaedics) examination. The conventional format which consisted of assigning patients to the candidates was replaced by a digital presentation format. In this format, the cases were prepared by the faculty, in the form of individual digital presentations for long as well as short cases. Presentation format consisted of detailed history, clinical examination, photographs of any deformity, elicited clinical signs and radiological imaging. A mock test was conducted four weeks before the date of the exam so that the candidates were familiar with the new virtual pattern. A questionnaire was designed to assess the acceptability of the virtual examination. It comprised of 10 questions and each answer was graded on a three point Likert point scale, producing a maximum score of 2 and a minimum score of 0 for each question. Results: Mean total scores for both the groups (examiners and candidates) were 18.25 and 16.9, respectively. The overall outcome regarding the responses was satisfactory in both the groups. The scoring was highest for the safety of the examination in examiner as well as the candidate group. In addition, overall satisfaction also scored the highest among the examiner group. Conclusion: This virtual pattern of examination presents a viable interim alternative to the traditional face to face examination, though it may not replace the latter. The time frame of the pandemic and its trend is difficult to imagine at this point of time, so, the virtual pattern might have to be used for future examinations as well. In addition, this pattern may even be utilised by other departments to frame their examinations.

Önemli miras değerlerine sahip çok sayıda miras alanının bütünlük kriterini karşılayamadığı göz önüne alındığında, bu makale, "bütünlükten" yoksun miras alanlarının, somut ve somut olmayan kültürel niteliklerinin entegre bir değerlendirmesi ve yerinde sunumu yoluyla miras değerlerinin kısmen yeniden kazanabileceğini ve canlandırabileceğini savunmaktadır. Arifiye Köy Enstitüsünde Eğitmen Kursuna ait mekânlar ve yarışma projesi sonucu üretilen mekânların dışında farklı alanlarda eğitim amacıyla gerçekleşen eylemler sonucunda mekânsal üretimler gerçekleşmiştir. Bu durum, birçok farklı alanda yerleşim gösteren Arifiye Köy Enstitüsünü diğer enstitü yerleşkelerinden ayıran özgün bir özelliktir. Arifiye Köy Enstitüsü, kurulduğu günden günümüze dek eğitim yerleşkesi olma özelliğini sürdürmesine rağmen özgün yapılarının büyük bir çoğunluğu kaybedilmiştir. 2000 yılında alınan tescil kararı sonucunda yerleşkede bulunan tek bir yapının tescillenmesi koruma kararlarının bütüncül bir yaklaşım ile ele alınmadığının bir kanıtı niteliğindedir. Zaman içerisinde değişen eğitim sistemlerine paralel olarak geçirdiği değişimler de yerleşkenin mekânsal özeliklerini dönüştürmüştür. Mevcut yapıların işlevsel değişiklikleri, bütüncül olmayan koruma yaklaşımı, yıkım kararları ve yerleşke içerisine farklı karakterde mimari yapıların eklenmesi yerleşkenin bütünlüğünü zedelemiştir. Mimari, tarihi, politik ve eğitsel değerlere sahip olan Arifiye Köy Enstitüsü yerleşkesi sahip olduğu somut izler ve somut olmayan kültürel miras değerleri ile bütüncül bir koruma yaklaşımı ile ele alınması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, enstitünün bütünlüğünü kaybetmiş bir miras alanı olarak korunmasında miras alanının sunumunun ve yorumunun önemi vurgulanmıştır. Arifiye Köy Enstitüsünün öneminin ve somut ve somut olmayan miras değerlerinin anlatılmasında, yorumunda ve sunumunda yöntem olarak dijital sunum tekniklerinin kullanılması, somut bir iz bulunmayan miras alanlarının korunmasında etkili bir yaklaşım olarak ele alınmıştır.

Bu çalışmada dijital kimlik kavramı, dijital kimliklerin önemi, kimliğin dönüşümü süreçleri tanımlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; dijital kimlik kavramına ilişkin literatürde yeterli çalışmanın bulunmaması nedeniyle alana katkıda bulunmak aynı zamanda değişim ve dönüşüme uğrayan kimlik yapıları konusunu ele almaktır. Bu araştırma, dijital kimlik, dijital kimliklerin önemi, dijital kimliğin dönüşümü konuları bağlamında hazırlanmış olan kuramsal bir makaledir. Araştırmada betimsel bir analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. Dijital kimlik yeni bir kavramdır. Bu nedenle yurt içi literatürde yeterli bilgi bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışma ile insanlara farkındalık kazandırma, dijital kimlik kavramının yapısı ve önemine ilişkin ışık tutulması bakımından katkıda bulunulacağı düşünülmektedir.

They chose the topic of Celtic material and spiritual culture, since a lot of evidence of their civilization was found in Slovakia. Besides the exhibition, the project includes a multimedia presentation for teachers, activity sheets for pupils, and a 3D visualisation of a Celtic settlement.

This paper elaborates on the problem of modeling provenance for both physical and digital objects. In particular it discusses provenance according to OAIS (ISO 14721:2003) and how it relates with the ...conceptualization of CIDOC CRM ontology (ISO 21127:2006). Subsequently it introduces an extension of the CIDOC CRM ontology, able to capture the modeling and the query requirements regarding the provenance of digital objects. Over this extension the paper provides a number of indicative examples of modeling provenance in various domains. Subsequently, it introduces a number of indicative provenance query templates, and finally it describes an implementation using Semantic Web technologies.

Sie wird durch das Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur des Landes Brandenburg ...gefördert. Ihre Hauptaufgabe besteht darin, brandenburgische Digitalisierungsprojekte beratend zu unterstützen. Ein Arbeitskreis Brandenburg.digital, mit Vertretern aller Kultursparten, bildet die Basis eines Kooperations- und Kompetenznetzwerks für die Vermittlung von Kultureinrichtungen an regionale Kooperationspartner. Neben der regionalen Verankerung bestehen kooperative Verbindungen zu Einrichtungen in anderen Bundesländern und zum Netzwerk der Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek.
The Coordination Office Brandenburg-digital was established at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam at the end of 2012. It is supported by the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Culture of the state of Brandenburg. Its main task is to advice and support digitization projects in Brandenburg. The basis of all cooperation efforts is a network of regional partners, all of who are institutions of the cultural heritage, organized in a work group. Besides the regional focus, there are cooperative ties to institutions in other federal states of Germany as well as to the network of the German Digital Library.
