Video-based person re-identification (re-id) is an important application in practice. Since large variations exist between different pedestrian videos, as well as within each video, it is challenging ...to conduct re-id between the pedestrian videos. In this paper, we propose a simultaneous intra-video and inter-video distance learning (SI 2 DL) approach for the video-based person re-id. Specifically, SI 2 DL simultaneously learns an intra-video distance metric and an inter-video distance metric from the training videos. The intra-video distance metric is used to make each video more compact, and the inter-video one is used to ensure that the distance between truly matching videos is smaller than that between wrong matching videos. Considering that the goal of distance learning is to make truly matching video pairs from different persons be well separated with each other, we also propose a pair separation-based SI 2 DL (P-SI 2 DL). P-SI 2 DL aims to learn a pair of distance metrics, under which any two truly matching video pairs can be well separated. Experiments on four public pedestrian image sequence data sets show that our approaches achieve the state-of-the-art performance.
The article presents an innovative approach to the educational and methodological support of the educational process in a distance format. The purpose of the study is associated with the ...identification of such a structure and content of thematic complexes of e-learning tools, the use of which at the stage of basic training of specialists at the Maritime University would optimally meet the objectives of improving the quality of basic knowledge and competencies, the level of digital and professional literacy of industry personnel. The scientific novelty of the study is the development of the methodological concept of distance learning in the direction of increasing the efficiency of the educational process based on the thematic electronic modules developed by the author, consisting of subject-specific video blocks, to different forms of training sessions united by one topic. The author reveals the structure, content and technological features of the implementation of video blocks in the process of educational activities of students in lectures, practical and laboratory classes, as well as in the process of evaluating the success of mastering the course being studied. The article presents the qualitative results of the study, which show the effectiveness of the developed methodological concept of distance learning in the cycle of basic academic disciplines in terms of improving the level of basic training of students as a fundamental basis for professional knowledge and competencies.
In online learning, the teacher-student interaction mainly takes place in the form of themed discussion anytime, anywhere, and the posting and commenting on the theme. It is of great practical ...significance to select a proper behavior analysis method that effectively analyzes the mass data on teacher-student interaction. Taking online English courses as an example, this paper explores the teacher-student interaction during online learning. Firstly, the ant colony algorithm was adopted for cluster analysis of teacher-student interaction, and the analysis procedure was detailed. Next, the features of teacher-student interaction were illustrated from three aspects, namely, overall interaction on online learning platform, progress of themed discussion, and teacher-student interaction, in order to examine the teacher-student interaction model. Finally, the features were obtained for teacher-student interaction in themed discussion of online English courses.

The pandemic of the new coronavirus infection has significantly affected all areas of society in all countries of the world, the education sector is no exception. In view of the rapid spread of the ...growth of morbidity, many universities were forced to abandon the traditional educational model and switch to a remote mode of operation. However, such a transition raises a serious question about the quality of training of students. This paper analyzes the effectiveness of distance learning in one of the technical specialties of the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University). This analysis contains various statistical data. This study shows that although distance learning forms have a number of positive aspects, they also have a number of negative factors, in view of which a complete transition from the classical educational model to the distance form is impossible.
The current study addresses two antecedents that may serve to explain teachers’ online instructional practices during the COVID-19 pandemic: first, the professional aspect that deals with suitable ...training of teachers and school support for distance learning, and second, informed by the professional aspect, the personal (psychological) aspect that discusses the self-efficacy and attitudes of teachers toward distance learning. A mixed-methods design was employed by collecting data from 327 Israeli schoolteachers. A phenomenological paradigm was used to enrich the information from the point of view of teachers who experienced the transition to distance learning. The empirical model included three aspects connected to distance learning: the professional, personal (psychological), and pedagogical-practical. The professional level included training and school support for distance learning. The personal level referred to teachers’ perception of their efficacy to use technology for distance learning and their attitudes toward incorporating technology in teaching. The practical aspect comprised actual teaching methods that teachers used during distance learning. The results of the quantitative data analysis revealed that teachers’ perceived efficacy to deploy competency-based learning strategies exceeded their actual use of such activities during the crisis. In practice, they maintained classroom discipline rather than enhancing collaborative practices, according to their report. The current study indicates that teachers’ perceived ability to deploy distance learning activities might play a central role in explaining actual online instructional activities used during the crisis. This psychological aspect can be nurtured by appropriate professional training and technical and emotional support. Based on both quantitative and qualitative analyses, appropriate preparations are suggested to provide teachers with technical, pedagogical, and emotional support during times of crisis.
