La incertidumbre por el futuro ha dado como resultado, a lo largo de los años, una prolífica producción textual que se interroga sobre el devenir de la humanidad y la sociedad. La narrativa de ...anticipación se posiciona, así, como un tipo textual predilecto, que utiliza la especulación futurista para reflexionar sobre el presente. Este artículo se propone interrogar la relación del ser humano con la naturaleza como un otro y sus modos de vinculación —explotación y representación— en un corpus latinoamericano que otorga agenciamiento al sistema tierra en detrimento del Antropoceno. Con un enfoque metodológico interdisciplinario que conjuga ecocrítica, estudios poscoloniales y nuevos materialismos, se analizará una serie de textos que postulan la importancia de pensar formas de vida por fuera del paradigma occidental —capitalista y antropocentrista— donde la naturaleza recobra su agencia como sujeto activo. Contemplaremos así preocupaciones ambientales, de representación y poder entre las agencias humanas y no-humanas. Nuestro objetivo será, entonces, recoger regularidades en el pensamiento anticipatorio latinoamericano sobre el devenir humano y del medio natural que ponen en tela de juicio nuestro vínculo con la naturaleza, los cuerpos y las materialidades no-humanas.

This study discusses the environmental issue distortion of the game Dark Souls using Garrard's ecocriticism theory and uses the qualitative descriptive method to analyze the data. The objectives of ...the study are to show the disruption of the natural order and its consequences. This study is conducted by gathering data from the game through screenshots and dialogues while also from the video through the narrative. The study shows that the disruption of natural order occurred because the individuals of the Age of Fire did not desire their era to end with them being replaced by the Age of Dark, which would be humanity's era, and thus do whatever is necessary to extend the Age of Fire, despite the fact that involves changing the nature of humanity itself. The consequences of the disruption experienced by every individual as the world grew hostile and dangerous, the world's logic warped, individuals suffering from the world's conflict as many resigned to their ultimate fate. Despite acknowledging environmental problems, few solutions have been formulated, leading to the continued deterioration of nature. AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas isu lingkungan yang menyimpang dari gim (permainan) Dark Souls dengan menggunakan teori ekokritik Garrard dan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menunjukkan gangguan terhadap tatanan alam dan konsekuensi dari gangguan terhadap tatanan alam tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data dari gim melalui tangkapan layar dan dialog, serta video melalui narasi. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terganggunya tatanan alam terjadi karena individu-individu di Zaman Api tidak menginginkan era mereka berakhir dan digantikan oleh Zaman Kegelapan, yang akan menjadi era umat manusia sehingga mereka melakukan apa saja untuk memperpanjang Zaman Api, meskipun hal itu berarti mengubah sifat dasar dari umat manusia itu sendiri. Konsekuensi dari gangguan yang dialami oleh setiap individu ketika dunia menjadi semakin tidak bersahabat dan berbahaya, logika dunia menjadi bengkok, individu-individu yang menderita akibat konflik dunia banyak yang pasrah pada nasib mereka. Meskipun mengakui adanya masalah lingkungan, hanya sedikit solusi yang telah dirumuskan yang mengarah pada kerusakan alam yang terus berlanjut.

Analyzing two films, Ponyo by Hayao Miyazaki and The Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro, this paper studies the portrayal of humanity’s complex relationship with water that refuses to present ...itself as static, simple, and reducible. Attending to water as a dynamic entity, it investigates the dynamics of value and agency of water in its manifested ally, rebel, and love. Engaging in the discussion of reciprocity as a way forward to a world of harmony, the paper argues how water as an equalizer can inform humans to shun their anthropocentric hubris and can help recognize the shared materiality between the human and the non-human world. Drawing on references from the recent scholarship on elemental ecocriticism, material ecocriticism, and environmental ethics, the eco-aesthetics of the films will be studied to evoke an ethical position about water’s fluidity and omnipresence that demand our respect and our recognition of the agency of the non-human world.
In recent years, the emergence of indigenous literature contextualizes the historicity of colonialism and the ensuing resistance. This present study articulates how the Native Hawai’ians articulate ...their resistance against American domination through the resilience of their cultural heritage and advocates for political changes, as is reflected in Lynn Kalama Nakkim’s Mahele o Maui. The study applied an econarratological perspective which foregrounds the reader's active role in reimagining a different socio-cultural perspective of the natural environment from Mahele’s perspective and engaging with other (non-Western) environmental imagination. The theory of resilience and resistance, as stated by Adamson and Molina, underlines how indigenous Hawai’ian tradition manages to persevere and transform through the Western model of narration, a novel. The study explores how Nakkim’s fiction articulates the indigenous epistemology of Aloha Aina to actively resist American domination with the eventual goal of achieving sovereignty and independence. The finding concludes how Native Hawai’ians’ literature has a similar concern with other indigenous struggles in the world, advocative and politically oriented in outlook, echoing their struggle for the right of self-determination and eventual sovereignty.

From an ecocritical perspective, Woolf's ability to manoeuvre herself in and out of the natural world -in both her life and her writings-is as exciting as it ever was. The environmental qualities that Woolf and her close circle honed in on during the interwar years, leaves us with a trail of culturally significant nature writing transformations.
